Mother of god. Every time I go to hunter I come here. I wish this place was in the city, I would be here every single day. My personal favorite is the Rueben but their soups are awesome, the other sandwiches I’ve had are also great. Real surprise was how good their coffee was! Delicious. I come here at least once a week during the winter, and honestly I dont want to go anywhere else. Skip the prices at the mountain, drive 15 minutes here after a day of the slopes. You won’t regret it. Also the people are some of the kindest you’ll ever meet.

This is such a quaint little store and if I lived in the area I would hang out here literally all the time. The seating area is concealed from the deli area which is nice because you really feel you could stay here for hours unnoticed. The food is fresh and very tasty, and the sandwiches we had were all delicious. The chilli hot chocolate was also incredible, and the pastry/cake portions are incredibly generous. The little shop itself has some really interesting products and foreign things(Barry’s Tea, but only the decaf?? WHAT), though there are no prices so that’s a bit uncomfortable. Lovely service and a cute little place overall.

Although unassuming from the outside, come in and enjoy tasty food at the Circle W. We had breakfast here 4 times and loved every visit. They also serve lunch and sell a variety of gourmet items including many international products. The staff provide wonderful and friendly service so you feel like an old friend right away. Make the stop and enjoy!

We were staying around town and were actually looking for a different place and walked in and were confused. BUT it ended up being a great surprise. We ordered some breakfast sandwiches which they cook to order and sat and enjoyed some coffee. The staff was so pleasant and the whole store was comfortable enough to overstay your welcome to chat and relax. It was a cute general store with your basic grocery and then some.

We stopped here for lunch after hiking the falls and had two delicious sandwiches. I had a fall special and my husband had the Tannery. We also picked up a few hard to find grocery supplies at the general store. I would recommend stopping here if you’re near by.

Whenever we come upstate from New York City, a stop at Circle W for lunch is a must. What a quaint old fashioned country store. I remember this place in my youth, which is going back almost 50 years. It was THE country store for the tiny village. It is so refreshing to sort of relive your youth with your children now, walking in the same footsteps from long ago. Enough about the past, this little gem has a nice ambiance, and delicious food. All homemade and i’m sure local products as local as they can be. My favorite is the classic BLT, nothing extravagant, but very tastey. I thoroughly enjoy it.

Great little local shop with amazing food that both locals and tourists can enjoy. The sandwiches are large and filling and the service is very friendly and fast.

This store is very clean and cute, and service is very friendly. They sell very unique and interesting things but they are a bit pricey. A sandwich can cost you $ 10. I’ve tried this place twice and both times I’ve had positive experiences. In a nutshell, good food, bit pricey.

I don’t see what the hubbub is about this place, except that there are so few spots in Palenville that this gets good reviews. Everything is VERYEXPENSIVE(think Manhattan rather than Hudson Valley prices) and the service is abysmally slow. Would not come here again.

Excellent place for lunch right before heading into the Catskills for some hiking! My family and I stopped by for a meal. The décor made it feel like it was a hipster café in Williamsburg, not a general store in the middle of nowhere. The sandwiches were a bit expensive but generously portioned and well-made. I got a panini with prosciutto, goat cheese, fig jam, and arugula and felt that they were too generous with some of the items & threw off the balance a bit… but the other sandwiches were all well portioned and the veggies were super fresh. The rest of the store had some interesting things to browse through but I wouldn’t necessarily buy the items from there unless you were in a pinch because they do have to charge a lot for the items.(Having lived in a small rural town for a few years and spoken with the local general store owner, I understand the high prices.)

Our sandwiches were amazing. The service and ambiance were amazing. The food is overpriced.

Simple well prepared food. Way over priced on the groceries they sell. I would not mind either of these things however, there is a total lack of service and gratitude missing from the environment. Being a resident of the town I can be confident in saying that although we locals do pay for the overpriced fare. It is clear that they are catering to a different clientele. The environment feels most certainly clickish“I can honestly say I have never had a bad meal there but have never felt like my business was appreciated

Like the Last Bite in High Falls, the Circle W is one I almost hate to share for fear you’ll all move in and crowd me out. Gorgeous store, great folks, really good food. I’ve been for lunch a number of times and never had a bad experience. They even got me to enjoy black bean soup. That’s a first. The groceries are eclectic and wonderful — not too many places carry both PG Tips and Yorkshire Tea. It’s a place I take clients when I want to show them just how great this area is.

There aren’t too many options and because of that I think that the numbers are a bit inflated. While the choices here sound good I definitely thought the sandwich I got was okay. Honestly, nothing to be that excited about. The market area is small, with some basics but nothing you’d consider as true groceries. The baked goods though are really great and homemade, it was all right but nothing amazing.

Had amy first great breakfast at Circle W this morning. I hope to have many more. Beautiful store– and so well curated! Everything you need is likely to be there! And it fills such a need in the area where there’s no handy food store. Beautiful baked goods– which I can’t usually eat because of the gluten– but they have gluten free bread so It was really perfect, sitting with my friends at a sun-filled window table. It’s a great restoration of a wonderful old country store & you can’t help but feel that the old ghosts that must live there are very happy! Visit soon!

Absolutely amazing sandwiches, really good quality food and basics on the shelves, and very friendly employees. A must stop if you’re anywhere close for breakfast or lunch.

In an area with not many food options, this place is really stood out. But it was good enough to have stood out almost anywhere. We stopped by on the way to Hunter Mountain and picked up sandwiches for lunch. Everything was of the highest quality. And the homemade lemon bar was off the hook. I typically don’t even like lemon bars, but this one was the perfect combination of sweet and tart with a buttery, flaky crust. The place was so good we stopped back by on our way to New York City and picked up some breakfast sandwiches on bagels to go. They were exactly what you would hope a breakfast sandwich would be. A gem of a place in the neighborhood.

As you can see from my amount of check-ins this place is still AMAZING! Since I moved away I’ve had a hard time finding anywhere that even compares to here,(and we’re talking the capital region.) So when I’m in the area I try my best to stop by and grab a sandwich. My fiancé’s response to every new sandwich place we try… «still not as good as Circle W.»

This is one of my parents’ favorite Palenville places, and after visiting, I can see why. The Circle W is a General Store where you can pick up all sorts of stuff you might need: sauces, oils, vinegars, canned goods, jams, preserves, spices, cereals, rice, pasta, environmentally-friendly cleaning products and any condiment you might need. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of organic products, especially given how difficult it can be to buy such items in the area. They also stock locally-produced goods like quality maple syrup made right down the road. As if that wasn’t enough, it also doubles as a delicious café serving up an excellent breakfast, fantastic sandwiches, and homemade baked goods of all kinds. There are always specials available including soups, quiches(portabello and goat cheese!), pastries and more. In addition to all the tasty treats, It seems to be a true neighborhood hub; everyone that happens by seems to know each other by name, and it makes you long for small-town times that you never even knew. The owners and staff are incredibly friendly, and they effortlessly combine that old-fashioned community feel with the modern world. A man who could very well be Rip Van Winkle might sit down at the mini-table in the corner and surprise you by pulling out his iPad to play on the free wi/fi. Personally though, this bright, happy place makes me want to put away the electronics and set up at the sunny table in the window with the Sunday Times and a LEGIT bacon, egg and cheese. And whenever I’m in town, I think that’s just what I’ll do.
