Love, love, love this place. Delicious sandwiches, friendly staff and such a charming little hole in the wall.

This is the best sandwich shop I have been to anywhere. Love the missile, the fall brook and the California split. Amazing. Soups are the best and the service is outstanding. A must try when you’re in the desert

Me and my wife have eaten here twice, and both of the times we have left satisfied. decent food, nice staff, and quick service.

It’s not exactly easy to find, but being tucked away from view makes this place an even better find! I had an amazing Missile Sandwich – pulled pork, ham, cheese, grilled – that I highly recommend. Gotta try I!

This place was a Mom and Pop place where the sandwiches were fresh and tasty. It is located in an industrial area where there are auto repair shops. The place is small but cozy. The owners are friendly. There is one shared restroom. It is clean and we would definitely come back. I had the greeled cheese with bacon. Our friends had the California split and the mizzle. Everything was fresh.

Arrived in Palm Desert late Friday afternoon and was craving fast food. When my friend and I couldn’t find any, we found Lunch Box on Unilocal,and we are glad we did. Obviously a much healthier (and yummy) option than a McDonald’s would have been! We both went with the California Split + turkey, in a wrap (instead of a sandwich). The wrap came with a pickle, and we also got a side of potato salad, which was really tasty.
Follow Waze/​Google Maps to get there since it’s not right off the street. I would definitely go back!

Excellent service is a rarity, especially if you’re not paying a pretty penny. But that doesn’t stop this wonderful lady and business owner, Kari Kniegge, from making BOMB lunches and connecting with her customers and passerby’s like myself. I found this place by using Unilocal to search for restaurants near where I was doing business. So I found The Lunch Box. I spent some time looking over the menu and when I saw «The Missile» I smiled and then I got all the way down to the «Redneck „Greeled“ Cheese». It was a tough choice, but I went with the pulled pork — The Missile.
It did not disappoint. The sandwich was served on French bread and it was pulled pork, with ham, pickles and swiss cheese which was grilled. The sandwich was great. but the bar-​b-​que sauce that came with it was amazing! It was on the side (well a little was on the sandwich) so you could pour on yourself. This sauce made the sandwich! It was a very thin sauce filled with flavor — not sugar. It was tangy, spicy and just the right consistency. I really coul dhave had a side bowl, like a soup.
I asked the owner Kerri — who is funny, energetic and a hoot! — if they made their own sauce and she said she could not take the credit. Her husband Steve — who was also friendly but not willing to give his bbq secrets away — was the maker of this deliciousness. I told them if they start bottling it let me know.
For a first time visit it left me wanting more. So this was a big hit in my book.

We were staying at the Desert Willow Resort and found this on Unilocal… So good we went back the next day… and I had the same sandiwich… The split with turkey… sooooo good… this will be our go to Palm Desert lunch spot… Friendly folks and great food…

Super great place always get the missile sandwich but switched today for a salad and half and sandwich and nothing but satisfying !!!

I stopped in based on other Unilocal reviews. They did not disappoint. Rather than looking at the menu I asked for a recommendation. I was served a delicious tuna sandwich. The bread was fresh and lightly toasted exactly the way I like it. The tuna was also fresh which is critical. There was just enough mayo to hold it together and add flavor without making it a sloppy mess or taking over the flavor. As I was leaving the owner came out and introduced herself. I will absolutely be back and recommend The Lunch Box to anyone looking for a great lunch in the area.

Love this place. I go here almost everyday during the work week and they are always willing to create items or twerk old ones to keep me from getting sick of the food. The owners have very dynamic personalities that will keep you wanting to come back for more…

A friend recommended The Lunchbox. 3 of us in the office are new and we decided to try it. I ordered a Cali Split with turkey. I freakin’ LOVED it. The turkey was very good and thankfully not C grade lunch meat. the sprouts fresh, the bread delish. Service was fast and friendly. I’m definitely adding the Lunchbox to my noontime arsenal.

I had the half turkey add avocado with a side salad. It was soooo good! The bread was so fresh. I will definitely be back!

Great service. Had the fallbrook on the squaw bread which was delicious. My husband had the greeled cheese and added turkey to it. It has the perfect amount of spice with a great kick at the end. Tucked away in an industrial parkway but great once you find it.

Ok, i have to say their foood is soooo goood!!! I loove it when i work in palm desert because i get to come here and have my nice fresh delicious turkey terrific and salad. Anything i order i love!!! But, BUTTTTTT, you better be ready and know what to order when your on the counter cuz the guy is soooooo rude!!! OmG! He is NOT WELCOMING AT ALL! Ive tried maany ways to aproach him and omG! It NEVER WORKS!!! he must really HATE HIS JOB and im sorry that has stoped me from going more often, sometimes im not having a good day either and his attitude doesnt help at all.
But heeyyy the lady is sooooo niiice!!! Always nice!!! She kinda compensates for that very rude guy!

Exceptional breakfast sandwich and wrap in a very Palm Desert ‘modernist’ ambiance. Free WiFi and fancy cucumber H2O. Next time, will go for lunch.

Amazing sandwiches! I had the BLT added avocado. Also had the press-​grilled turkey bacon Swiss sandwich. Both were amazing. Considering we are talking about sandwiches I think that’s really saying something. The potatoes salad was great! I rarely find good potato salad, but this was so good. I would come here just the for the potato salad. Good thing everything else is so fantastic. Thank you for the great lunch :)
Needless to say, I’ll be back.

I’m giving this place five stars for its outstanding food, and because the owners are handling every task, ensuring our experience is acceptable. This is our first time here and I picked this place because it had 54 (4.5-star) Unilocal reviews. Good job, reviewers… you nailed it.
This place is open Mon-​Fri for lunch, and is located in an industrial business area. For those who care, I’d give the bathroom and dining area three stars each, and the parking lot two stars. However, those ratings don’t take away from the five-​star food and service experience. Excellent prices, too. Oh, and the Squaw bread was like eating freshly baked, warm cake… fabulous.

I have no idea what happened since my last superb visit but this time around it was a total opposite experience. Sadly.
Potato Salad was seriously potato soup. My egg salad sandwich was egg soup sandwich, and the missile sandwich was loaded on a soggy burnt roll… Very disappointed bc this place was super close to my work but not sure I will go back anytime soon after this visit.
