Shopped here for 5 years until I tried to EXCHANGE a defective shovel purchased 2 days ago. Alan, manager, told me that I was lying about why I was exchanging the shovel. Asked me what he was supposed to tell the manufacturer. Told me to have my anxiety attack at home when I told him I felt I should be able to exchange shovel without interrogation.

I went to ACE because a key had broken in the front door lock and I couldn’t get it out. I brought the lock to ACE and the serviceman took the time to disassemble the lock, remove the broken key and reassemble the lock all at no charge. Needless to say I was extremely pleased at the excellent service and caring manner of the help at ACE.

Super helpful and fast. So prefer this store to any Home Depot, Leowes etc.

A neighborhood hardware store that is convenient if you need something quick, especially when working on a home improvement project and you’re out of that one item needed to finish the job. They make keys and carry a few household items. Mostly, it has paint and paint supplies, screws, nails, tools and light bulbs. They also carry those hard to find items like rubber seals/gaskets. It is a small hardware store, but it is pretty well stocked. Store is always clean. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Parking is in the front of the store and on the side.

Chose Ace over the big boxes for service, which was a big mistake. Paid Premium for a new propane tank filled with propane. They left me standing in parking lot awaiting it. Trick me once …

Editing to update this, January 2014.(Please note that the only two reviews appearing here since 2012 report wretched screw-ups by this shop’s personnel.) And since I wrote that sentence, one recent review, by Richard E., 1÷14÷2014, dropped into the«Filtered» category below, where you can still read it; the other disappeared. I might revise my own review more favorably, if owner Larry Dorn would ever respond to my Unilocal message — the same method he used to contact me – but he hasn’t, so I still don’t know what’s up with this business. In May 2013, Larry Dorn sent me a Unilocal message about the multi-part employee debacle I reported in my original review below, and asking me to phone.(Note: either two separate employees were responsible for the sleazy behavior I reported, or one employee both closed the shop early on me after I called to confirm hours, then also ignored my follow-up phone message. Or, management ignored the message. I just don’t know.) Part of Dorn’s explanation didn’t make sense given what I’ve just mentioned. So I replied, also by Unilocal message, asking him to clarify. My tone was conciliatory; I would be happy to discuss. That was in June 2013. For some reason, I’ve had no response to my message. I really don’t know what’s up with the management of this place, but I’ll update this review if I ever hear back, as I politely requested, when I replied in June 2013 to Larry Dorn, by the same medium he’d used to contact me. Which is now my SECOND unanswered outreach to this business. Right after the incident described in original review, I phoned and left contact info, but heard nothing ever back. These silences do not build confidence in this business’s sincerity about resolving employee gaffes.

The staff has always been friendly and helpful, and when they did not have a part I needed, they took measurements of my broken one and found the correct model quickly and called me when it came in. Once I took a tool there because I didn’t know how it worked and a very nice older gentleman showed me how to use it(and I didn’t buy the tool there, it was a gift) I don’t get this kind of personal service at the larger home improvement chains. Reminds me of the small town hardware store I shopped at years ago.

Never written a review for a hw store, but these guys really deserve it. Traveling in my RV, and the faucet that connects the washer/dryer sprung a leak. Pulled out the valve stem, but could not unscrew the washer. The head of the screw started to strip. The guy at the plumbing desk tried to remove the screw and couldn’t. So he cut the washer out, used pliers to get the damaged screw out, and immediately found the proper replacement washer and screw. All of this effort for $ 2 worth of parts. To me, that is above and beyond the call of duty. When so much of the help at other hw stores can be dismal or even condescending, it was nice to find someone who provided real service.

Small store, but they have a decent selection and friendly, helpful staff. They didn’t have the specialty screwdriver we needed, but it’s a pretty rare item. They referred us to a place that might have it. They get an extra star for carry filters that fit my older-model DustBuster. I usually have to order online and pay shipping because most stores don’t carry them. Yay!

This Ace has a nice setup complete with a helpful staff. Great selection of potted herbs and vegetables as well as misc housewares items. Minus a star just ’cause the entrance is a little tricky. You have to enter thru a small driveway that is easy to miss.
