Our second time there with guests last Tuesday evening 5pm Our first visit was very enjoyable — decent service and incredible food. Second time not so good — deplorable service but the same good food. We had to ask for water and refills many many times. A couple across from us had the same problem. The manager/owners did not have a clue on how things were going — just interested in getting people seated. They do not answer their phone but request email to make a reservation then don’t answer! They are going gang busters as a new restaurant but with bad service it is obvious they have no prior experience running a successful eatery.

Laughably bad service. The place was near empty and we waited for lengthy periods for each component of our meal.

Wow! I love the food here! So yummy! Let me say, the only reason this place lost a star is because they don’t answer their phone & you need to email dinner reservations 4 – 6 days in advance… not so good for a spur of the moment person. Hehe. So, if that doesn’t bother you, you’d probably rate it 5 stars. Lunch hit the spot today! Who knew that I’d love German Food so much!!! Had the Chicken Strips Lunch meal. See pic! YUM! The Spätzle that came with it was soooo delish! Ugh! I miss that taste in my mouth… Why did I drink something after eating? That’s ok, I’ll just have to come back! Hubby had the brats & sauerkraut lunch… I had a bite. Yum! Came with Potatoes that had a nice mustard taste. See pic Been here for dinner & the Hunter Schnitzel is sooo good! See pics… Honestly, pics don’t do the food justice… simply delicious. Light REAL taste without over salting just lots of flavorful veggies & herbs! Mmmmm

Excellent food! We have been longing for a good German restaurant were we can get our favorite dishes and enjoy a taste of home. This is such a charming restaurant and the staff makes you feel welcome just like family! The Schintzels are excellent. The Sauerkraut soup is truly delicious. Desert is a must. Email as far in advance as you can for a reservation.

I had lunch here and had the sauerbraten. It was great. The place was nice atmosphere and not as busy.

This place is fantastic. Here for business and I’m so glad I found this place. Staff is incredible and the food is impeccable. My only little gripe is I wish they had a better German beer selection, but that might just be cuz I’m a basic millennial hipster.

Arrived for dinner on a week night. The snowbirds have arrived and even though I arrived early for dinner the place was buzzing with clients. The menu is extensive and I started my evening with a cold Krombacher beer and complimentary pretzels that were yummy. For dinner, I selected the entrée of Beef Goulash with vegetables in red wine gravy, served with homemade swabian noodles and included a generous size garden salad. This was my first experience with goulash and thought it was tasty but a bit chewy and could have been a cooked additionally — for added tenderness. I ended my meal with the apple strudel and ice cream which was stellar! Service was cordial and there were several waitresses who assisted me. I’d probably pass on the goulash in the future but will return to try another entrée or two.

Authentic German-style little restaurant! Lined with wood beams, antlers and traditional Bavarian clothing, reminded me of my German family. Had the classic schnitzel(Vienna) with yummy bratkartofflen. Bf loved his wurst sandwich with cold sauerkraut potato salad. Wonderful solid comfort food. Mostly older clientele and atmosphere. I recommend making a reservation, though we didn’t on Sunday and it was worth the 15 minute wait and shared table. Staff is friendly and older and seems mostly composed of the owners.

Food is probably good if we could get a menu. German authentic food, great for us Germans in the valley. Reservations for dinner is a must.

The Bavarian pretzel is humongous although meant for two, four of us shared it. The sauerkraut soup was light and creamy. The goulash soup is a hearty meal in itself, an alternative to the goulash dinner with the spätzle. The onion rings are crispy light and plentiful. The sausage sandwiches are delicious. I hadn’t had German food before so it was fun experimenting with their menu. Each time we went in, we tried several new things. I got a kick out of the Radi dish with the radishes and the rye bread. They get a great job decorating the interior with authentic German Realia. The waitresses wear these adorable outfits. Great place to go for something new and different. Each time we arrived we were welcomed warmly our service was great & we had a blast. Looking forward to the warmer weather and the beer garden!

Service, food and atmosphere just perfect! Everything was excellent! I will return often. I had the schnitzel Hunter style with spatzel and it was amazing! Comfort at its finest. The wait staff gave amazing service! Leaving with a smile and will definitely be returning often. I opened this Unilocal account just to write this review because it was that good!

I’m hanging with my family in Palm Desert for the holidays and we were looking for a «different» sort of place for NYE dinner. We landed on the Schnitzel Haus on a whim and boy were we happy we did. All of the food was seriously good! Really, it’s very, very good. No one in our group was anything but ecstatic about their dinner. Throw the gigantic German beer steins, the mulled wine, the incredibly kind service, the owner who’s from Germany and is so nice you just wanna hug her, the ice cream topped waffles for dessert, the cute German décor and you’ve definitely got a winner. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience in palm desert. Especially if you like schnitzel.

Great atmosphere, great & super attentive service, wonderful owners and great example of German comfort food. First of all, the Octoberfest Pretzel was the best I’ve ever had, aside from huge, it was fresh(crust was crunchy, the inside was super soft and had a great bread smell), great for sharing and we were a party of 5! It came with butter and green onion and just amazing. MIL has a tiny appetite so she ordered the ghoulash and had us taste it — very flavorful, the beef was ultra tender and just savory, hitting some comforting notes you didn’t even know you associated with. FIL ordered the Schnitzel with the cognac, he split that with MIL — they both enjoyed it, again MIL had me taste the spaetzel — usually, not my fave due to the blandness of the noodle, but these had texture and decent flavor. Hubby ordered the cucumber & dill salad — he loved it — he had every taste a little portion — very fresh tasting. He had the original schnitzel«Vienna» style — he did not share that because it was gone the next minute… I’m guessing he really enjoyed it. My daughter and I split the rouladen — this was hard for me to rate because I’ve never found one that really appealed to me, but I was still curious. It was good, still not my favorite but I can’t fault them for my lack of experience. Hubby said it was good, but the pickles needed to be a little more crunchy. What I really enjoyed about the dish were the potatoes that were served with the rolled beef — they were cooked well, but crunchy on the outside, not grease, so I was a bit baffled how they were prepared. They were flavored well and not boring — I have never had anything so simple taste so good. My in-laws thanked us for taking them here and will be back again. Godrun and her husband are super sweet, so are the ladies that work for them. The furniture is actually refurbished from another restaurant in Germany built in the mid 1950’s. I hope they continue to grow, would be wonderful to make this our«go to» spot when ever we visit. Shoot, I totally forgot the beers… hubby and FIL had pilsners and they enjoyed them, MIL tried the one I was going to try(can’t remember the name but it was like Umrun) very wheaty and I had the grapefruit one, which wasn’t like the Shofferhofer I usually get, it tasted more like a Chimay, which was still good for me.

Awesome service, awesome food, and steins of awesome German beer! I had the hunters schnitzel based on the recommendation of our lovely server. It was awesome comfort food at it’s finest. The décor in the restaurant was cute, I loved the wooden tables, chairs and benches. They did a great job adding ambiance to this quaint restaurant set in a strip mall. The beers were cold, the food was hot, the feeling in my soul was warm and fuzzy as I left. I can’t wait to go back and I’ll be bringing my friends and family when I return.

Wow this place is phenomenal! I’ve been here a few times for lunch, and can’t wait to bring my German in-laws for dinner. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. Outdoors is a small patio with banners and string lights overhead to give it a beer garden/Octoberfest feel. Indoor seating is a bit limited, small tables and the booths can be reserved or seated communal with other diners. The booths themselves are ornately and beautiful carved. I’ve ordered the Vegetable Bolognese, which DOES have meat sauce(duh) so vegetarians don’t be fooled. The pasta itself is made from veggies(think spaghetti squash), super healthy and tastes great. I’ve also had the beef goulash — perfectly tender cubes of beef in a red wine gravy, served with spatzel. Superb! I’ve also sampled off my dad’s plate — he’s had the Schnitzel burger and the schweinbraten. Loved the potato salad served with the Schniztel burger, it had a creamier consistency than I’m used to, but very simple and flavorful. Definitely recommend the warm apple strudel for dessert, served with ice cream, whipped cream, and berries. The service has been a little slow during lunch hour, but because it’s a new restaurant that’s to be expected. Hope this gem does well, it’s a great addition to the desert!

My wife and I are hosting an exchange student from Germany and we thought it would be fun to take her here for her birthday. She was quite pleased with our choice and said the food was quite authentic. She and my wife had the Schnitzel(Vienna Style, a/k/a/Wiener Schnitzel) with French fries(is that really German?) and I tried the Schweins-braten, as it looked like most everything on the menu was pork. Mine came with three large wedges of boiled potato and a bit of red cabbage on the side. I enjoyed it but didn’t really say, Vunderbar!“ The servings were not so big I couldn’t eat the whole thing at one sitting, so we didn’t have leftovers to take home. Our girl got the Belgian Waffle with ice cream for dessert, and I don’t know how she could eat so much. But, she says it was«sehr gut» and I believe her. Oh, the place is fairly small with tables and booths that seat six. Reservations are suggested. Give them a call first.

what a wonderful place to enjoy an outstanding meal! the food was fresh, highly recommend the cucumber dill salad… and the spatzle was soo yummy!!! the schnitzel — had the vintage one — it so reminded me of the fresh, flavorful food(and homemade schnitzel!) in my families home in Germany. Excellent fare, even if you’re not German! Love their options for all… and the warm friendly hospitality of the family here.

After living in Germany for a while, I can say that this place is true to an authentic Bavarian restaurant. We had lunch and ordered the Schnitzel Burger special and the Bratwurst. Both plates arrived in a flash and were excellent. The Schnitzel Burger was more of a sandwich. Large and filling! The side salad and the potatoes were awesome too. The Bratwurst plate came with a cold potatoes salad and a small side salad. The Bratwurst was delicious with the whole grain mustard. 10⁄10 would return!

I’ve been waiting for this place to open since I started seeing the décor go in. Came in today for their second day serving lunch and was not disappointed. I wanted to try everything on the menu — it all looked tasty — but I had to be patient. So I had the schweinbraten with roasted potatoes and red cabbage — yummy! My daughter had the beef goulash with spätzle and loved it. The gravies for both dishes were distinct and aromatic. The dishes were not over-sized, so I couldn’t over-eat — perfect for a midday meal! The lunch prices are very reasonable, and they have a huge selection of «biers». As Arnold would say«I’ll be baack»…
