Advantage Tire & Auto

Went back to FL to visit family and had to take care of a tire issue with the rental. A fantastic location to get your car serviced, and under completely new management. These guys have their act together and took care of us. They absolutely made sure everything was taken care of properly for my visit, and thoroughly checked the car, for an extremely reasonable price. Couldn’t have been happier!

Used these guys before and they were great. Something’s changed and now they’re a hot mess! Went in with an overheating problem and leaky radiator. Took 3 days to replace the radiator. Always something holding it up. Two weeks later, sitting in traffic, look down and the temp gauge at the red. Pulled over, waited to cool down, put water in the radiator and drove home. Check engine light started to come on. Brought it back in. They had it for another 2 days and told me my radiator fan motors weren’t working and I failed the block test. Didn’t even ask for a quote. Brought it to another shop…$ 1800 repair. I don’t know if the fans failed after they replaced the radiator or before but seems awful suspicious. Not going back again that’s for sure! One observation; I went to pick up a notebook when they had my car for so long, the shop was a disorganized mess. I was stepping over all kinds of crap to get to my car.

My husband and I did business with Advantage Tire some time ago and were very happy with them. So when I needed tires I decided to give them my business. Will not do that again. Seems that they were sold to someone not very honest, since we bought tires there.
I «made the deal» to have tires installed and had an appointment for a few days later, because I needed to wait while they did the work. When I got there, they took the car within 15 minutes; after it was on the rack the salesman talked with me about how they «might be able to do the alignment assuming the car had been maintained well enough to do it». Which did not impress me! I assured him the car had been maintained (I was ready for him to try to sell me ball joints… which I had replaced a few months prior).
After about an hour wait, the salesman called me to the desk and wanted to show me something. Not sure why it took an hour for them to get the old tires off the car… if I had not had an appointment, might still be sitting there waiting for it!
Having worked for a tire company a long time ago, I was ready for the «you need brake work speech». I was not disappointed, but surprised that the salesman took me out to stand in the service area, beside and under the car while it was on the rack to show me a (perfectly good) rotor. He told me I needed the brake work right away… new rotors included. About $ 350 to $ 400 worth of work. Guess he thought because I am a woman, I am stupid! He was very pushy, told me they would do the work that day. He wanted to know if I needed him to drive me home. I kept saying I was not doing the work that day. Which I finally got the salesman to listen to me!
I went to my regular mechanic the next day. He confirmed that I did not and do not need brake work! I will not need it for quite a while.
So…Advantage Tire will never see me or my two vehicles again! Buyers beware!
