Randy is an amazing tour guide. You can tell that he has taken the time to continue to learn about wind mills.
This is a great tour. I learned about the origins of Wind Mills in Palm Springs, the facts on the wind mills and why they worked or didn’t work.
It was fun walking in the wind mill farm to be closer to the wind mills.
The tour was capped off by a stop at a small, family-​owned store that makes the best date shakes.

This is a great little get away from Palm Spring’s hectic down town scene. It’s for all ages, and you will learn everything possible about those gigantic behemoths that we have all seen for over 30 years when coming and leaving Palm Springs. The guide Randy is full of information, and has an easy going personality, and never loses his patience with anyone young or old. The price is a little steep for the time you are actually on the tour or just learning about the history of the windmills at the tour HQ (a clean, small building), but wait for the treat at the end… a yummy date shake that may actually have you driving back to the market that serves them to you on your next trip to PS.

This two hour tour will basically take you through the wind farms of Palm Springs, which is basically a field of giant windmills. The bus will take you through the barren mountains surrounding the valley. If you’re fascinated by windmills or have kids that want to see something cool, then the tour is pretty satisfying. The great thing was that when we went, the weather was very nice. It made for pretty cool picture taking opportunities. We lucked out because the weather patterns have been very gloomy and rainy as of late. All in all, it was a very informative tour!

very informative, the tour guide is very knowledgeable. my son who is a big fan of windmill, love every single second of the tour. they stopped at a local store and got a free date shake. very yummy. even though the web site says 90 mins, the tour ended up almost 2 hrs, which is nice.

The hills around Palm Springs are dotted with wind farms, and these informative tour guides will teach you SO much about the technology and landscape — starting with the fact that they are «wind turbines» and not «windmills» (since, of course, they are generating electricity rather than milling grain). Get up close — really close! — to see how huge (and how surprisingly quiet) these behemoths are. I particularly loved strolling through examples of earlier design efforts that failed in a spectacular pile of twisted metal and broken blades. I took this tour on a previous vacation, and it was interesting to see how much has changed: the «state of the art» machines of ten years ago are two generations outdated now, and the latest thing is using solar panels to fill in the ground space between turbine towers. The tour is a little tech-​y at first, but by the end I felt a little more connected to the «juice» we take for granted. If you’d really like to learn something about the past and present of the Coachella Valley that’s a world apart from the polish and style of Palm Springs, this captivating tour is just the thing!

Fun and educational! BUT, really windy. Cant blame them for the wind but about ½ our bus thought it was too windy and didnt leave the bus for the tour. I really enjoyed it!

This was a fantastic and very an interesting tour. It was a real nerd fest, but hey I’m a nerd and I confess it. Randy was our guide and he was veryhelpful and well informed. Lots of Picture taking opportunities. Don’t miss it if you’re an energy wonk like I am.

Great tour that 3 adults just took today. Ease of booking with Emily to Rich’s relaxed tour. HIGHLY recommend this tour. Information from the beginning when windmills were first brought to the valley to the changes over the years. The different types, the costs of the windmills, who owns the different ones, where the power goes, what it means if they are not running. Amazing to stand so close to the 2 biggest ones. UNBELIEVABLE the size! $ 35 for adults $ 30 for over 60. They provide lots of cold water. Take this tour. Really really worth it if you are interested in these beautiful windmills!

Went on the Windmill tour yesterday. Fantastic experience and well worth the money. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. He was able to answer all the question from all the participants. Very relaxing tour, nothing was rushed.
The bus was very comfortable and had large windows for easy viewing.

This is a great tour. You get close to the windmills and learn a ton about wind energy generation. You also get to the peak natural gas station, which is really interesting to hear about. Altogether, a great science or alternative geek’s tour. Rich was awesome.

If you are in the Palm Springs/​Coachella Valley area, I highly recommend you take this tour. Rich provided a comprehensive and excellent history of the wind energy industry as well as how wind power is contributing to the growth of this area. It’s one thing to read about wind power or see a program on TV on this topic. It’s another thing when you see it in action!

Fascinating tour. Rich is knowledgeable, interested in his subject, and able to present clearly to non-​engineers. Going up close onto the actual wind farm rather than viewing from the road was amazing.

This is a great tour if you are interested in clean energy or just fascinated by those huge white fans. The guide is knowledgeable and tells a lot about the history of capturing wind power, technical challenges, and the latest and greatest technological advances. You get on a bus to see a bunch of exhibits and live operational equipment. The tour is not limited to just wind — you also learn about a «peak power» plant that was built in the area.

This tour is definitely worthwhile. It will give you a great understanding of what this whole wind electric generation process involves. Also the history and complications of this experiment to utilize alternative energy. The newest technology generates over 3 MW and only need to win the 5 miles an hour. And you won’t believe how big these are until you stand beside one. Go take the tour you’ll love it.

One of my favorite tours and attractions in Palm Springs! I’ve driven by the windmills for years, and always wanted to know more and get close to them. Well, that’s what this tour is all about. It’s extremely personal, the guide is super friendly and knows a lot about the history of windmills in the valley, and knows what is happening today and into the future. It got me so excited about the future of wind and solar power. Plus you get to touch and get up real close and personal with these giant behemoths that soar above you like gentle giants.
Just do it!

Had a great time on this tour! Loved learning about the different types of technology and the ways the power is generated and distributed. Jack was friendly and informative, the bus was comfortable, and it was all a positive experience.

I would highly recommend Windmill Tours! We have driven by these giants for years, and today we learned so much about them!!! From the office, with great pictures, to the comfy cozy bus, to the up close and personal outside viewing, it was so fun with our engaging and knowledgeable tour guide. The 2 hour tour went by in a blink!

What a great tour, especially for the price! The tour lasts about 1.5−2 hours, and is full of information about history, technology, and mechanics. The tour is a combination of inside, outside, and bus ride (VERY nice and clean), so you may end up needing to bring both a hat and a jacket, depending on the weather! The tour guides were extremely kind, informative, and patient. I would definitely recommend this tour to everyone; even if you aren’t necessarily interested in windmills, by the end of your tour you will see them for the incredible machines that they are. I highly recommend Palm Springs Windmill Tours. It is the only Windmill Tour that actually allows you to go «behind the fences,» learn and view the windmills up close. Extremely interesting and educational.
