I would not give them even one star.
I hired them since Greg Rammell has been doing this for forty years. Also Mel Ezell the person who came out with the contract and who did the estimate said that, «IF THERE IS ANY PROBLEM WE WILL FIX IT.»
They are very disorganized and do nothing on schedule. Their communication with you is terrible. You have to constantly call them to find out when they will be coming. Plus, they never had a Supervision on the job and no one came out during the stages of the job to check that the work was being done properly.
This was the worst experience I have ever dealt with. Very unprofessional. It is very frustrating to experience how they treat their customers.
I have so many problems now with the pool. Here is a list:
One of the cantilever expansion joint is raised. It is too high and uneven. Could be a potential SAFETY HAZARD for kids walking on the deck.
Crack in the cement along the skimmer.
White plaster spots baked into the cantilever deck since they did not cover the deck when they shot the plaster
Permanent scratch marks on the deck since they used a wire brush to try to get out some of the white plaster spots when the cement was not even cured yet.
Poor tile job with tiles sticking out and tiles not placed correctly
Holes in the cantilever deck since some objects got into their mix that they did not notice.
Three areas of the cantilever deck don’t measure 3 feet to the perimeter.

Ground wire not properly buried. A SAFETY HAZARD
Greg came out with Juan his supervisor along with their concrete subcontractor Sign and Son Concrete when I complained about their work. Greg and Juan tried to scrap off the baked in white plaster spots but it failed. They made it worse. They both made permanent white scratch marks all over the deck when they tried to get the white plaster spots out.
Greg told me that this is the best he can do and you will need to take it up with the California State Licensing Board. He said he has used Industry Standards.
When I asked Greg why other companies can get the tiles right and you can’t — his answer,
«THEY GOT LUCKY.» With that statement I would have to guess that his business is based on his employees feeling lucky the day they work. You have to roll the dice with this pool contractor.
So I had to submit a complaint to the California State Licensing Board and I submitted a claim against his bond company. Nothing has been resolved as of yet. It is a lot of work to go through this process.
I have to think about this every day and look at all the problems when swimming and walking on the deck.
I am very dissatisfied and unhappy with the work they did.

After interviewing several pool builders I selected Rammell to re-​do my pool and spa, primarily based on my rapport with Mel Ezell and the very realistic proposal he provided.
I met with Juan prior to job start, and he made excellent suggestions for a better final result.
As the project moved forward, I was continually impressed with the promptness, skill, and professionalism of the workers. Each was pleasant and polite, and every day they made sure the area was neat and clean before leaving.
Communication, work quality, and attitudes were always good.
Juan and Mel were both on site regularly to check progress and insure my satisfaction.
The job involved re-​routing plumbing and electrical, and installing a full automation system. All of this was done to high standards.
To me, it says a lot that Juan did not accept final payment until every detail had been taken care of and I was 100% satisfied.
I highly recommend this company!

Have used Rammell Construction twice now for pool remodels and have been very happy with their work. I find their prices to be fair after obtaining multiple bids, they have stayed within budget both times, and the work is very professional. I would definitely use them again and recommend them.

They re-​plastered a pool for me on time, on budget and well done! Glad to recommend them.

I hired them to rebuild my old swimming pool and they did a good job. But some cracks have shown up in the tile grout, water is now seeping behind the tile and I can’t get them to respond. This is not good service.
