The Saguaro Palm Springs

Not a terrible hotel. Maze-​like. Would normally be a 4 star but they tried to charge me a $ 28 ‘resort fee’ for use of their shuttle bus (as the location is terrible) wifi and other things, none of which I used. the staff were kind enough to let me off the fee. It would have been a 1 star otherwise. Shame on the management. Thank goodness for Unilocal; we can expose shady management!

We had a wonderful experience here! From the very start, Saul at the front desk impressed us with his very kind and helpful demeanor. We arrived a little before check in, but instead of making us wait, he actually upgraded us to an available poolside room! The whole staff was extremely pleasant and informative. There’s a free shuttle that runs every hour to the downtown area, and a sweet woman named Lupita happily gave us her tips on places to explore. The pool was very relaxing, the hot tubs (open till midnight) were a great way to end the day, and the watermelon margaritas are a must. The décor was unique and sunny, and our room was clean and comfortable. The lotion and soaps in the bathroom were also amazing– the aromatherapy scents were great. I also got a massage during our stay and was very happy with that experience. Check this place out!

I got this through Groupon and it was perfect. Very hipster a great place to hang out by the pool all day and take in the night life. The room was clean and quite. The staff where exceptional and always helpful. The hotel is close to everything this is a place to come back to thank you.

Great ambiance with a flare! All the rooms and hallways are vibrant and colorful. Not to mention, great guest service to all employees during our weekend stay. It’s in a great location close to all the night life, bars, restaurants, and the one casino close by. I think the only downfall is that I wished the bathroom had a soap dish on the sink counter top. oh also the rooms could have more outlets for charging electronics. That’s all.

I’m going to double down with what many other people have said. The rooms are spacious, clean, but nothing memorable. «Mountain view» rooms is apparently Saguaro-​speak for «parking lot» view. If you’d like to use your «patio» on the ground floor, you’re likely going to be sharing space with the parking lot. We requested a quiet room and they placed us on the first floor, facing the parking lot, near the hall’s entry way. The biggest single complaint that my partner and I had was that the «resort accommodations» are overbooked and are effectively unavailable for long portions of the day. The pool lacks enough seating in the sun. Even arriving at 830 didn’t get us a good seat. How they justify a resort fee is beyond me, considering that the place is little more than a Holiday Inn with a nice paint scheme.
The resort is attracting a mixed crowd of confused parents and people in their 20s. It’s not a kids resort and I’m unsure why people think otherwise.
It was an okay experience and Palm Springs has some great offerings, I’m just not sure that we’ll be headed back to this particular hotel.

Got to visit here twice for a two night stay each night. The rooms are large and well kept. Everything bright colors and has a Spanish theme to it.
Their restaurant and bar are amazing! Worth staying there just for that.
Staff is nice and willing to get you whatever you need. They directed us to some really good brunch spots.
Pool was warm even in December and January. Wish we could have been around for the summer to get a better take on how fun it is there but we were there in winter.
The gym looked brand new and super clean.
We would stay again if we’re out in Palm Springs again this year

There are so many great things about the Saguaro. It’s bright, cheerful and hip. The staff is really friendly and do their best to be super accommodating. The grounds are great. They let your dogs stay FOR FREE (!!) rather than some dumb $ 100/​night pet fee that other places in town charge. It’s clean. They have awesome Lather bath products. There are daily yoga classes (just simple stretching, so don’t expect sun salutations and vinyasas) and bikes are included with the resort fee. There’s a ping pong table in the lobby. The tequila bar serves great margaritas, and has happy hour from 3−6pm. It’s pretty close to downtown Palm Springs (15 min by bike…) and there’s a Ralph’s grocery store across the street.
But would I return? Probably not… Neither one of us slept well the two nights we were there.
Here are my tips for maximizing your enjoyment:
1. Bring earplugs.
There are three main sources of noise:
A. Parties at the pool. If you’re a party-​goer, all good. If you got up at the crack of dawn to hike, then bike, then swim… and had a full day, and you want to go to bed on the earlier side, you’re pretty much screwed.
B. In-​room electronics. There’s a little mini-​fridge in the room which is awesome for grabbing some staples from Ralph’s across the street for snacks. But these suckers are loud sometimes. Also, each room has it’s own mini-​split wall unit for A/​C and heat. These things are not discreet. While they’re warming up, they sound like a mouth, heavy-​breathing over your head. And fully in gear, they’re just loud. On and off, all night long. You can turn it off, like we did, but then you’ll have to open your patio door for air, bringing you right back to noise source A. Parties at the pool.
C. Your neighbors. As others have mentioned, the walls are paper thin. Our first night we heard someone sobbing next door. Good times.
2. Bring your own pillow.
Theirs are hands-​down the worst pillows ever. Even when things got quiet for a second – at like 3am – it was impossible to find a comfortable way to position my head on these exuberantly stuffed pillows. Also, the sheets are kind of scratchy, so… yeah…expect that.
3. Don’t expect the pool to be warm.
It wasn’t. :(
So a very mixed review for the Saguaro, which with some small changes could be great.

I recently stayed here with my young daughter and I do agree it’s not much of a hotel for kids despite the color scheme. We stayed here because she saw it on a previous trip to the area and wanted to come back. The kid swim hours that are «recommended» are 8am-​11am and 5pm to I think 8pm. The rest of the day and night is for drunken 20-​somethings to get their pool party shenanigans on.
I consider myself young and hip (being that I’m *only* in my early 30’s) but I felt old here. Lol.
I think it was when I was laying in bed in the pool view room hearing girls screaming in the pool at midnight and I couldn’t fall asleep wondering when they were going to their room. Between that and the lumpiest pillow I’ve ever felt in my life it was a restless night.
The bed was not comfortable at all. The pillows were so lumpy that a lump nearly cut off circulation through my jugular and I had to roll over before I lost consciousness.
The room however, was quite clean for the age and I was pleased about that. I didn’t see any bugs. There were stains on things (like the leather chairs/​tables) that you could tell were cleaned but just stained with time (and parties).
We enjoyed the pool early in the morning when it was empty. Although I would recommend the person cleaning the pool to do it before pool hours. Seeing someone spray chemicals on the pool tiles and scrub at them (letting the mildew or whatever it is) wash into the pool while my daughter is swimming in it was slightly unnerving.
I can’t say I’d be back but it was a decent stay. Fun for the colors but that’s about it.

— too expensive !!! At the end you had to pay these ridiculous resort fees !!!

When deciding how many stars to give this hotel, the description of 2 stars was perfect, «Meh. I’ve experienced better.»
The whole façade of this place is the only part, but deep down it is just an average renovated old motel with a good paint job. Came here for my friends wedding, was happy with the discount I was getting for the 1 King size room. When I got to my room, I was surprised to see that the bed was actually a Queen. I called down and asked and they said it was a Queen, and it was all they had left and that I am getting a discount anyway so should be happy.
As much as I appreciate the guy a the front desk trying to explain to me why I got a Queen, didn’t like his attitude of that I was getting a discount, so I just have to deal with it. I can look past that though.
One thing everyone should know is that the walls are paper thin. Was up until 3am with the loud people next door and was woken up in the morning by the loud people upstairs. Not the hotels fault that the people were loud, but with the walls, I could hear everything.
Overall, this place is not very nice, but it is cool. It does its job as a place to spend the night in Palm Springs, that’s about it.
Oh and free parking!

My review is a bit of set and setting, combined with a whole hell of a lot of beautiful ambiance, bright colors and vivacious memories. I came to The Saguaro back in June for Splash House and beyond being an amazing weekend out — The Saguaro provided an exquisite backdrop for the weekends shenanigans. From the multicolored rooms to the lounge friendly areas and hammocks, right on down to the rainbow towels and pool side bar — I had a blast, and I’ll definitely be coming back.

I recently stayed at the Seguaro Palm Springs and had a great experience! I had a few days to kill before a wedding in San Diego — so it seems like a great idea to enjoy a couple days at the pool for some good R&R. I stayed on a Tues/​Wed night in November.
1. I had a room on the third floor — overlooking the pool. View was nice!
2. The room itself is a little dated — but comfortable and spacious. The orange vanity was probably awesome when it was brand new — but hasn’t weathered the test of time.
3. The pool area was excellent — nice sized pool and two hot tubs. The lobby bar was nice and the bartender was very friendly and attentive.
4. The fitness center was above average for a hotel — and was able to get in a good workout while staying.
5. The entire staff that I encountered was always friendly and polite.
I got a great deal on Groupon and would stay again at this location without hesitation.

We reserved this thinking its a 4 star hotel but it turned out to be a Motel on steroids. Room had cane furniture with bonded leather sheets stapled! Internet was free but was slow like hell! You had to pay $ 10 for premium service Duh!
Concierge was very friendly although we didn’t get the best of recommendation on items. Overall a 3 star hotel and not a 4 star.

First thing we both said …“well it’s colorful”…we arrived at 3:30am and all I wanted to do was sleep… well I wanted to do some other stuff but I was beat.
Check in was smooth… the front staff was cheerful and I was checking out the Barbie doll displays they had… the restaurant bar looked promising but it was closed at that time.
The room was clean and colorful with the standard room amenities… but there’s no disguising that this is a converted motel.
The slider in our room faced the parking lot which was spacious and thankfully quiet…
The pool & bar area looked fun but like a dummy I neglected to bring a suit cause when I’m in the desert I like to let it all hang out poolside…
Checkout was easy… we kinda stayed an extra hour or two sleeping away the nights revelry and debauchery but all they did was knock and kindly remind us of check out.
It was a relaxing stay but I think I’d like to try a different place next time

Really? This is a four star hotel?
This place isn’t even by downtown at all (even though they have a shuttle). It doesn’t really have the view of a hotel of this caliber (outside rooms face the parking lot. Inside rooms face the pool which probably irritates everybody who has a room facing the inside as there is music that plays at night).
They told me this place was full and then they told me if I was willingly to pay more money… They would upgrade my room. Shameful.
The rooms are big but I’d hardly call it a four star. Rooms had sticky bathrooms… they are loud too with anybody that is possibly make any sort of noise in the hallways.
And they don’t have a lobby connected to their rooms… Even though they have one building.
Sorry I am going to hate on this hotel.

First, I feel it’s important to say that our room was really clean. And the bed was super comfortable and the sheets smelled clean and fresh. They didn’t have that «hotel» smell to it. I really appreciated that.
We chose this location due to the no dog fee policy. I have to say, I wouldn’t call this hotel dog friendly at all. Dogs are not allowed anywhere, and they are not allowed in the room unattended. So there goes any hope of going to the pool or any of the hotel restaurants. With that said, my husband and I took a nap and then headed to downtown Palm Springs for dinner. Pretty much every restaurant downtown had patio seating and very very dog friendly.
If staying here, I would suggest a room facing the pool. At least this way we could have at least been near the fun with our pug.
If you can get a great rate on this hotel (check Groupon) then maybe. Leave the pup at home for this one though. Looking forward to when the very dog friendly Kimpton opens.

I love the Saguaro so much that I’ve stayed there for my anniversary two years in a row, and will probably go back next year!
It’s a fun, modern hotel with a totally unpretentious vibe. The crowd is fun and ready to have a good time in the pool, or one of their two delicious restaurants.
This is definitely a party hotel, so not particularly kid friendly or quiet. If you know that going in, you are guaranteed to have a great time.
The staff is super nice, too. We have gotten upgrades for our anniversary on both years, and I would like to thank them for that!

It’s an okay spot in Palm Springs, it gets very busy on weekends and it’s definitely a desert pool party, I would say, not great for kids (someone was throwing up by the time we arrived near the pool) and you have to get there early for good real estate near the pool. Also, it’s clearly an old hotel that was revamped into an Andy Warhol technicolor dream (our room was bright green) but it was clean. I have stayed here twice and both times the noise level was surprisingly low for the amount of drinkers that it attracts but it’s definitely already showing some wear from the people teetering around the corridors, drinks in hand. There’s something very Vegas about Palm Springs, it’s just closer to Los Angeles and with less casinos.
Every suite has a balcony and modern furniture, full tub, blow dryer, etc. The air conditioning works well-​it must in PS in the summer. There’s yoga for a few bucks in the morning (loved that) and the food is great. They also now have a free trolley that takes you from this hotel to pretty much anywhere in Palm Springs and it runs until 2 am. And this hotel offers bikes, cute blue retro ones with baskets.
However, PS is like Vegas in that you’re going to pay resort fees at pretty much every hotel and taxes are high so don’t be surprised when you think you’ve scored a great deal on a travel site and the trip goes up by about 50 dollars a day.

If you want the usual dull corporate looking hotels don’t stay here. If you want a quite relaxing weekend away definitely don’t stay here. Atleast not on the weekends. Had a girls weekend here this past weekend and it was a blast. Saturdays there’s a DJ at the pool and it’s basically like a Vegas dayparty without the ridiculous lines and promoter BS. Drinks at the pool bar are the same price so be ready for some pregaming in your room. There’s technically a no outside drink rule at the pool and sometimes it’s enforced, sometimes it’s not. They also have a super nice fitness center that seems to never get used and a yoga studio with yoga at 8am every morning.
Checking in was a pain, they only have one night person and there was a line of people attempting to check in late. However the concierge was super nice and helpful one we got up there. The rooms itself are clean (we had two rooms and saw no crazy bugs or dirtiness) and the bright colors are fun. Make sure to get a room with a pool view as it just makes the visit much more cool. I do have to say that while comfy, the queen beds are definitely NOT queens, they are full sized beds. This is def a hotel with parties happening in every room until late in the night on the weekend so If you’re hoping to get an early nights rest you’re at the wrong place.

This isnt the Parker but it was a good place to stay for a weekend (After a holiday).

A bit of a maze to get to your car, ice machine, the pool. and really anywhere.
Good thing I came with a friend who was good at this.
The balcony is great place to hang out in and have a drink. Get the view of the pool. Always fun to stare out like a creeper.
I tried a fresh watermelon jefe margarita at El Jefe and it was not goood at all.
It was small and didnt taste like watermelon.
At $ 15 that sucked really bad.
But that belongs to a different review, El Jefe.
