Rene was outstanding as far as customer service and was full of good energy and generosity. Just baffled. Wish all hotel check in could be this amazing. Due to her politeness and friendliness I will stay here every time i visit Palm Springs. Thank you Rene. Your amazing. Ari

I have stayed here many times over the last several years. The property is in a very quiet area yet not far from downtown. The hotel and restaurant staff remember me and are warm and friendly. The atmosphere lends itself to a relaxed European feel. The guests often chat with each other over breakfast in the morning and, in the afternoon when the chef sets out fresh lemonade and cookies. The award winning restaurant is consistently great. The pool is heated all year which I enjoy very much. The gardens are lovely with many hummingbirds busy with the flowers. It is a most charming environment, my home away from home.

Love at first sight with this simply captivating and magical hotel. You don’t even need to leave the hotel to enjoy a weekend getaway. Can enjoy a swim in the heated pool, read a book in the lanai, and enjoy the most amazing food at the onsite Europa restaurant.

The rooms are cozy. They are almost like an apartment. The pool is heated. The location of the hot tub is unwelcoming unless you are staying in room 101.
Our room reaked of Gas. We asked the desk to check it out and just brushed it off. Stating that they always get complains but that everything is OK? WTH?
The waiters at the breakfast are not willing to cough out saltine crackers for the toddlers.
we also had a catered event for dinner and asked for a swap on a child’s dish– but they never came back.
If they were more on customer service they would get a 5 star, since the courtyards are real nice– but with the unattentiveness for the price they charge, they get 1.

So who actually runs this place? Don’t stay here if the outside temperature is over 90 degrees. Had a horrible experience, the rooms never got cooler than 88 degrees, pretty disgusting to pay $ 200 for a night to experience that. Called to speak to a manger, no response, left three messages until a manger finally EMAILED back, I explained the situation via email, he said he’d talked to the owner and get back to me within 48 hours, that was June 2015, it is now November still waiting for a response. Good luck, enjoy your stay at Villa Royale!!!

Made my reservation online, unfortunately my plans changed. Cancelled my reservation a month in advance and was charged a $ 60 processing fee. Are you kidding me? I will never stay here and strongly recommend anyone who considers this hotel to take their business to a place that values them as a customer.

Bought the Travelzoo deal and stayed here in September. The property has potential, but unfortunately is in need of repairs and better ground maintenance. If you like to enjoy a cocktail or a drink by the pool, bring your own, as the bar (Part of Europa which is adjacent to the pool area) is not open until 5pm. No happy hour or daytime bar service which is a big loss of revenue for this place. The bartender was curt to tell us «we are a dinner house». The rooms were OK, but over decorated with clutter and too much knick knacks. The patio off of our room was dirty with old furniture that was not clean. We also had small ants in our room on both nights that ended up on the bed. It included breakfast which was decent and served by the housekeeping staff (who were friendly hence 3 stars). We’ve stayed in Palm Springs numerous times and for the price we paid, there are nice, cleaner, better kept places to stay so doubtful we would return here.

This is a quaint beautiful oasis! The grounds are beautiful and the staff is wonderful.
We had dinner at the restaurant and were thoroughly impressed by the culinary journey Chef KITT took us on. Our waiter Michael was a delight and Nancy at the bar made us feel very welcomed.

I still have nightmares about this place :(I thought I got a great deal from Travelzoo for Father’s Day — it was a surprise for my husband. Turns out we were both pretty surprised. I’m not sure why there are any positive reviews on this place. I was really hoping that this would be a quality establishment but I was disappointed big time. It’s not often we get to go away and relax on vacation and I was super pissed the Villa Royale was just not living up to the positive reviews. This is just proof that I need to pay attention to the negative reviews first to detect a pattern.
The common theme for the negative reviews was that the rooms are dated and dirty — YES!!! I dreaded going back to the room after we hung at the pool (which was nice) the staff and Europa were considerate and sweet too. But the rooms could have been an ideal murder scene — old and tasteless and had filthy vibe. The bed sheets were old and looked like they hadn’t been washed and the towels had stains. Also the shower was painted white and the paint was peeling. It was such a cheap room.
I try to see the good in things always and don’t like writing one star reviews. I know that it’s hard to run a business but it seems like there has been no effort to update, clean or even maintain the grounds and rooms of this hotel. Which is really too bad because it looks like it was fun in its heyday whenever that was…
Also we were promised the honeymoon suite w king bed by the jacuzzi and given another room (301) upon our arrival w a full/​queen bed. When I complained about it at checkout I was told that the owner or staff would call and follow up but I Received no such call. Another big disappointment.
I hope the owner pays attention to this review and do something about it. Wish we would’ve stayed at the Ace or La Quinta resort. Next time we won’t go anywhere near this place.

Thanks to the management for bringing breakfast-​to-​order back to the patio! Our happy place is restored! The limited menu is perfect. There are few things that can beat an omelette while sipping tea and listening to the birds chirp and the water fall. Love it.

First time here. Wonderful hotel. Beautiful grounds, welcoming staff, larger rooms. Includes a nice, made to order breakfast. Pools and jacuzzi open late. The only downsides were the shower/​tub area —
In need to replacing everything from shower faucet to tub. Also the sheets were not very soft. It would be worth their investment to replace. Other than those two small things we really liked this hotel and would recommend it.

I had booked this hotel in early February for April 16−20^th through expedia, I received my invoice stating that I was going to be charged $ 243. After paying closer attention to my bank account I realized I was charged $ 293, about $ 50 MORE than I had approved. I immediately cancelled my reservation via Expedia. I called the hotel to verify how much the cancellation fee was, he stated that he would have to keep the whole deposit; $ 243 even though I am cancelling two months in advance, Being that I was at work I could not dispute the UNAUTHORIZED $ 50 charge at a further extent and called the next day, this time a woman answered; very polite, she stated there was nothing she could do and to call again the next day. I called and spoke with a manager, «JOE» he was automatically defensive and never apologized for the UNAUTHORIZED charge and kept justifying the UNAUTHORIZED charge, at this point I am livid that I as a PAYING customer am receiving so much disrespect from management itself and that my debit card is being charged without my authorization. The conversation quickly escalated once the «manager, JOE «said I needed to listen to him and continuously kept Speaking over me. Once I was able to get a sentence in, «you need to listen to me, I am the customer» JOE hung up on me. I called back asking the front desk to speak to a higher manager, she stated there was nobody higher but the owner and took down my name and number assuring me that I would receive a call from the owner. Next morning I received a voicemail, not from the owner but from JOE himself he went on to say I would be refunded all of my money minus a $ 55 transaction fee, which is fine but no apology for the UNAUTHORIZED charges or the disrespect I received from «MANAGEMENT». Although getting my money back was a positive in this horrendous experience it is safe to say that I am UTTERLY DISGUSTED by the customer service that management (JOE) provides. It is sickening to think that I have received better customer service from teenagers at MCDONALDS. I WILL NOT BE GIVING VILLA ROYALE A Second chance, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

My sister and I stayed in a king suite and had plenty of room for a two night stay. The management let us pick which room out of the three that were available, and were very accommodating. The room was nice and had lots of antique furniture and lamps and made our stay even neater.
This is not a Hilton or Marriott, and should not be held to such standards. It is an aged but quaint place with lots of it’s own ambiance related treasures. I would recommend to anyone for a getaway!

We had booked two nights and would have left in the middle of the first night had we not been so tired. The grounds are deceiving to what lies inside a room! Shocking that management charges such high prices for such low quality. There were four us staying in one of the suites that we were told would comfortably accommodate all of us. Our complaints were so many that we left the next morning:
— Pull out bed was ancient. It should have been a clue when housekeeping needed two people to jar the bed loose to open. The mattress is impossible to sleep on because you feel two bars under your body within minutes. My daughter had to share the king bed with my husband and I.
— It was chilly when we were there and even with the thermostat all the way up to 85 degrees it took over two hours to even remotely warm up the suite although if you walked by some of the exhaust vents you got blasted with cold air. In addition, the heater fan was extremely loud.
— The shower head was stuck on one mode which was sharp needle mode.
— The bathroom drain was clogged.
— None of the blinds closed fully so that outside lights glared in at night as well as one window didn’t have any blinds at all where people could see in completely.
— Window drapes were too small in width to cover windows so that light came in.
— Dirty floors. There was popcorn in the living room area next to the couch from previous guests.
— Not enough blankets or pillows. It took two calls to have housekeeping bring them and when they did they had an attitude.
— No electrical outlet near the bed in the bedroom to hook up our daughter’s cpap machine. When we asked housekeeping for an extension cord it was never brought even when we asked twice.
— They advertise «warm down duvets and thick cozy robes» but what you get are shabby worn quilts and thin frayed robes.
Overall, the interiors are in desperate need of updating. Management was extremely defensive when we brought up our issues. The owner was present and never even offered to speak to us about our experience… total disinterest in customer service.

Great place to stay very friendly staff and home feel love this place. Will come back again.

Great, private, lush get away!
We used a travelzoo groupon and it was wonerful experience. Amazing staff, very large units with separate bedroom and kitchen which worked perfect for our daughter. Nice, clean grounds and pool. The breakfast that was included was great, flavorful and filling, not your typical hotel breakfast, much better.

We had a two night stay at the Villa Royale at the beginning of December to celebrate an anniversary. We found this cute hotel through a Travelzoo voucher and it was just perfect. Joe was exemplary in his customer service attention and made us feel really special. The hotel is sort of a spanish ranch style with pools in the courtyards and they had it decorated very tastefully for the holidays. If you are looking for new construction, this is not the place. It has an old world charm that you cant find a lot of places. It is close to downtown Palm Springs and all the shops. We wish we could have stayed longer than just two nights. Dinner at Europa the restaurant on site was very good — we would recommend it. We will definitely be back to visit soon.Thanks.

Yet another jackpot find here at the Villa Royale Inn with next door Europa restaurant. We dined here 3 times and quickly decided to give their Inn a try and WOW! We were delighted with room choice recommended by Jack at front desk as well as Joe’s (property mgr) daily greetings and enthusiasm to answering all our questions. The grounds and pools are a delight as is the lovely clientele staying here. A sweet haven for a peaceful and rejuvenating get-​away. We love it here and plan to have many returns. Thanks to all staff that help keep it so memorable for guests.

Overview: If your standards are set low and you don’t mind a bit of dirt and poor service this would work for you. Attention to detail is NOT of importance to this property, management is polite but do not understand the importance of «service recovery» options.
* Dirty and out dated rooms. poor air conditioning system, old bedding, mold
* Poor pool conditions. exposed gutters dirty with gunk,
broken step ladder, hot railings
* Poor management skills
* No food or bar service at pool
Our suggestions: Hotel: Colony Palms or the Parker Food: Purple Palm or Spencer’s
We used a Travel Zoo: BEWARE these are used to lure people in to less then adequate properties!

This is exactly the place we were looking for. It was nice, comfortable, and affordable. The hotel itself is tucked into a neighborhood off the Palm Springs strip so it’s not extremely busy, same area as ACE hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with any requests we had. We stayed in one of the villas so we had a bedroom, bathroom, living space area, dining, patio, fire place.
We enjoyed the romance and quietness of the inn. Breakfast, wifi and parking were included in the hotel stay.
We also enjoyed the afternoon refreshments and cookies. Thank you VR, we will be back!
