I didn’t know there was a problem with my sprinkler system until I got my water bill and it was twice as high as normal — yikes. So I looked around the yard and discovered a puddle in an area I don’t frequent and though I’m pretty handy, there are some things I know nothing about including sprinkler systems. Went to Unilocal and found this company and another local company. Contacted both via their websites… heard from this company almost immediately and didn’t hear from the other at all. Turns out I was dealing with the owner(Christian C.) and he was able to come by the next day and take a look. The problem was a failed valve(the part that comes up about 2 feet from the ground — my house has 6 of these separated into 2 groups of 3). He shut that valve off and we discussed repair options — he could replace just the one valve, no problem. I don’t like worrying about that sort of thing however, and it seemed to me that the other valves would probably fail sooner or later(everything house-related fails sooner or later, yes?) and he explained the process of replacing all of them. It entailed digging down to the manifold where the water lines separate and go out to their various flower beds & trees, etc. He would re-build the 2 manifolds and replace all 6 valves — a day-long process. That’s what I chose to do. Scheduling the work was a breeze even though I only have one day off per week. Christian was able to fit my project in just a few days later and he did the work himself since it was a relatively small job. He was on time and he kept me in the loop with each phase in the process. He’s an outstanding communicator via email and in person and he will explain anything you want to know very clearly and with as much detail as you’d like. Another positive note — it really does seem to be the case that no job is too big or too small. Christian will explain your options but he doesn’t push you to take the high-dollar route and he doesn’t look at your landscaping and tell you about all the fancy things you might do to improve it. He seems to be a very creative person and I’m sure he could envision my yard with showcase-home upgrades but I never got the feeling that he thought less of me for pretty much letting go of what the previous owner had done(plantings that are not drought-friendly). Honestly, my yard looks neglected and it does need to be improved but I’m not prepared to start that project at this time. A couple of months ago, I called a guy referred to me by a coworker because I needed some basic cleanup — just weeding and removal of some dead plants. I wasn’t happy with what he did and I felt like he overcharged me. For all the work it took to fix my sprinkler system, I felt like I absolutely got my money’s worth with Christian’s company. I am going to hire Beyond Environments to do all of my yard maintenance from now on. Christian said they can come by as often as I need. Later, when I’m ready to change my yard with different plantings and a different configuration, I will have them do that work as well.
