Ate there last night and ordered their fish«special». For the life of me I can’t remember the name of the fish because I’d never heard of it before. They described it as a delicate white fish accompanied by a winter salad. So I asked the waitress, «there’s a salad?». To which she replied, «well not really, it’s more of a garnish of shaved vegetables». «Ok» I thought. I’ll try it. So I ordered the fish«special». To put things in context, I’m of European Hispanic and French descent. I get it when fish is served whole. I’m not grossed out by that. What I don’t appreciate is not being informed that I’m getting a whole fish, head, tail and all at a «pseudo-fancy» restaurant. And the worse part of it is that the fish wasn’t even properly cleaned. It still had the spine and some organ sack still attached. When I informed the waitress, she was of course speechless. How dare anyone criticize that restaurant!!! The manager promptly came to our table to «assure us» that the fish were indeed clean. I begged to differ and at $ 27 for a plate of lazy fish preparation over a one ounce pile of sliced(not shaved) mystery vegetables, I was rather annoyed and pissed thinking to myself«I’m never setting foot in this place again!» Accompanied with our meal were 2 appetizers. The calamari and a sampling of small bites. Well the evening ended with a bang. Not ten minutes after getting home, the fun begins! Projectile vomiting ensued FOURTIMES for the duration of the evening. My body couldn’t get rid of their putrified fish fast enough. Ask me if I’m ever going back. The answer is a big ‘ol HELLNO!

The Hil is one of my favorite places to eat! Great restuarant in the heart of an adorable town. The All Natural Pan Roasted Chicken is great, Margherita Pizza, Calamari, Veggie Plate, and everyone loves the Pimento Cheeseburger with Fries. Not only is the food fabulous but the people who work there make you feel extremely welcomed. The bar is also a great place to have a quick snack/drink.

First, the service here was impeccable. The busy evening had our table reservation running a little behind, but our hostess checked in with updates as we enjoyed a drink at the bar. Our server Meghan was bubbly, knowledgeable, and took great care that we had everything we needed. From the house-made chips and caramelized onion dip to the large portions of farm to table vegetable plate — oh, and the rich decadent chocolate crème brûlée, I will be returning.

A great restaurant tucked in the lovely Serene area. We started with the chips and onion dip with some wine and Pimms– all good. Then, we had the flatbread(blue cheese and pear) and the supreme pizza as main courses — also very good. The portions are well served, so if you want to go for a lighter fare, you could have an app, share a pizza and have some dessert. Which, in our case, was the sundae — rich and creamier. Service was friendly and courteous. Will return in the future to try other dishes.

Everything on the menu is delicious! Fresh, locally grown vegetables and open range meats are a welcome change. The chef is top notch and always creating something new, with seasonal specialties that are surprising, fun and flavorful. Steak-lovers: The filets are mouth-watering good & cooked to perfection. And even when cash is tight or you just want something quick to pick up, they have the best burgers & personal pizzas anywhere in GA!

Had a chance to grab lunch here when I was visiting a few friends in Atlanta. Pretty cool place, the area that it was in was pretty awesome also but that’s another story. Had a very cozy vibe, simple but nice! I ordered the Fish n’ Chips it was good but… it was Fish n’ Chips how amazing could it be. My wife ordered a Chicken Sandwich with egg on top, that was delicious! One of our other friends had a Pot Pie… when I go back I will defiantly get it. Then I was wanted to order something else for myself. All in all it was a great experience great vibe, great, food.

First the good– the food was amazing! Everything that we had was spectacular. Our server was great. Now the bad– I made reservations weeks in advance– as we were attending the Sleepy Hollow performance at the nearby playhouse immediately following our dinner. I asked the reservations agent on the phone what time he would recommend in order to make it in time for the show. He suggested 6:30 so we went with it. We arrived around 6:20 and was told that our table was not yet available. Ok, fine we were early. So we sat… and sat… and sat. We weren’t seated until 6:50 pm. Normally I would not care but we had tickets for the 8 pm show that was a few minutes away from the restaurant. Needless to say we felt very rushed and stressed about making quick decisions on food and drinks to get our orders in. I was disappointed. I don’t understand why our table was not available at the time promised. I even called that morning to confirm. I almost felt like our table was given away and they had nowhere to put us. What is the point of having a reservation if you have to wait anyway? #reservationsfail

Lovely little neighborhood nestled in Serenbe — a huge surprise to me to see an Atlanta style planned neighborhood«way out» in Palmetto, but it was certainly appealing. It was pretty quiet«in town» so I imagine the homes are mostly retirees and summer places. The Hil is a very special place. The food is quite good — and upscale rustic is a good description of the ambience. The place is lovely and the service is quite nice. Recommend a visit there and then on to the Serenbe Playhouse(outdoor).

The Hil is the most upscale of the restaurants at Serenbe. The food is good. I usually like the seasonal sides the best. The Farm Dirt Martini is the best drink. I recommend it even if you don’t like martinis. If you’re getting dessert, get the Parfait. It’s not what you’re thinking and you’ll have to ask the server for the description, but it involves fudge, ice cream, and cookie dough. It’s delicious. The last time I went, the server I got was pretty rude and short with my party. She acted as if there was something wrong with us, and she wanted to spend the minimum amount of time with our table possible. This has only happened once, so I only took away one star.

I enjoyed a beautiful brunch here. The atmosphere is what I might consider«upscale rustic» if that is even a thing. They had a short yet comprehensive menu that covered all bases. The server was great. My $ 11 cocktail was tasty, but the alcohol level was a bit weak. I look forward to coming back and trying this place for dinner. Overall, Serenbe is a delightful little getaway from Atlanta and it was a pleasure experiencing it and trying The Hil. Far removed from the highways, Serenbe is a surprising enclave of art, food, and culture in the middle of nowhere.

I have been here more times than I can count. I’ve NEVER had anything other than top notch service, amazing food and wonderful drinks. Can’t leave this place without a dessert, my fav is the hil waffle! I’ve also had brunch here before and was again, blown away!

Yum. Chef does a great job with her menu items. The pimento burger is a must for lunch, and the spinach salad is also delish. On the dinner end I enjoyed my steak frites, and hubby loved his lamb. P. S. the bartender knows how to make a fantastic cocktail.

Had to rave about the great service & even better food at Chef Hilary Whites place, The Hil. Started with the special Brussel sprout salad perfectly balance with touches of Gorgonzola cheese & house made vinegarette! Superb. Our group tried the steak(cooked to perfection with that delicious crust but juicy interior). Also the signature chicken dish that’s the best tasting roasted chicken I’ve ever had… that came with a beautifully delicate sauce. We also tried a pork special that had 3 different cuts of pork prepared 3 different ways. Melt in your mouth! Had to end the meal with the desert waffle that’s served with the house made butter pecan ice cream. It was amazing… light, crispy & flavorful. We are definitely going back… VERYYSOON,

To highlight one item of the menu is to do you a disservice. Everything on the menu is delicious in my time at Serenbe, I got to try just about everything on the fall menu ’14, I state that because, due to the chefs focus on keeping the menu fresh and local, you wil find variety. Step into The Hill, and life will be good.

We were staying on a Sunday night at the Inn at Serenbe. We didn’t realize that the Farmhouse lunch menu is the exact same as the dinner menu. Based on that, we decided to have dinner at The Hil. We brought our bikes with us, so we rode them to the Hil while the sun set on the farm. Super beautiful. There wasn’t a place to park our bikes, but more on that in a sec. As we strode up the stairs, we came across a bunch of teenage girls freaking out. Once we checked in, we asked about the commotion. Turns out, Ian Somerhalder was having dinner at the Hil. We were quickly seated inside, along a back wall with a banquette. Our table was VERY close to our neighbor’s table and we felt a part of their conversation. We sat there about 10 minutes but no one checked on us to give us a menu, offer water, etc. I was boiling hot — perhaps partly from the bike ride, but it was so stuffy in the dining room — so I went back to the hostess and asked to sit outside. We were moved to a lovely end table on the outside patio. It felt so much better outside than it did indoors, which our waitress confirmed is a super warm dining room. My husband also went and got our bikes and pulled them onto the patio with us so we could see them and could easily leave from the patio when it was time. As soon as we sat down outside, we had a totally different experience. Our waitress was quick to provide us waters and menus and also opened the wine we brought with us and brought a bucket to chill our rose. Great service. We ordered the crab fritters, which were really good. They were full of lump crab, as you can see from my pic. They also had a delightful dipping sauce. We both had the fried chicken lunch at the Farmhouse, so for dinner, we decided to have beef. The ribeye steak with mashed potatoes sounded excellent to me, so I got that, with a side of green beans. Hubby got the burger. I ordered my steak medium rare, and although the first bite really was medium rare, the rest of it was cooked to medium/medium well. The bummer is that the manager came by as we were settling into our main course to ask how the temperature was, and I told her it was great, even though as I progressed into my steak it was not. The good news is that the steak had terrific flavor and the mashed potatoes were perfection. Hubby had the same issue with his burger — it was cooked more than he had requested, but still tasted pretty good. Dessert sounded excellent so we got the Hil parfait, which really was delicious. I found it enough for two people to share. It tasted super fresh and I loved the whipped cream and the chocolate. I would definitely return to the Hil when staying at Serenbe again. It was nice to get away and get into«town» and experience what life in Serenbe would be like. I loved sitting outdoors, watching the sun go down, and eating delicious food. Our waitress really was a gem.

I dined here for the second time this past weekend. While the ambience and food were both very pleasing, the unbearably HOT room temperature nearly ruined the entire experience. It was so hot that half of our party was stuck to the leather bench, while the other half were literally having to dip our cloth napkins into water and dab our necks for relief!!! We did ask our server three separate times about turning the air condition on? Lower? And there didn’t appear to be any action taken. After driving over an hour to get there, and paying nearly $ 90 for two of us to eat there, I would think they could be courteous enough to lower the room temp or open a door or something!!!

Forget what I ordered(probably because I ordered a ¼ of the menu) but I DO remember that the dining experience was quite nice. I was a bit concerned that this would be some weird backwoods type places but I was pleasantly surprised to see that though it was a little creepy that this town was in the middle of nowhere, the town was quaint. The staff was super pleasant as was the food. If lived in the area, this might be my go to special occasion spot.

The food here is so amazing! Ask for Megan she will take awesome care of you. Had the spinach salad with bacon, feta, and farm egg! Added some pulled chicken to it and holy smokes it is amazing. The chicken salad melt sandwich with salad was amazing. The pimento cheese with homemade crackers were oh so delicious! But the French fries were probably the best we have ever had — it is a 3-day process to make them and you can tell!

A tasty and wonderful experience. The fresh and delightful menu is full of new and old favorites. As a vegetarian I especially appreciate the farm fresh vegetables and cheeses used. For appetizers we enjoyed the caramelized Vidalia onion dip with homemade potato chips. The dip is a perfect and surprising combination of sweet and savory, add in the crispy fried slightly salty chips and you’ve got a whole mouthful of happy. We also devoured the Flatbread with brebis cheese and Serenbe farms garlic and greens. When I say devoured I’m not kidding. We ate it before it stopped steaming. The cheese on it is insanely good and the greens and garlic were the perfect compliment. The Serenbe Farm Vegetable Plate(which changes seasonally) was beyond perfection. This time we were delighted with the first vegetables if the season. Including earthy tender carrots, surprisingly sweet sugar snap peas, perfectly salted potatoes a dish of expertly seasoned lentils and greens(spinach and kale) and the unexpected but delicious fried Bok Choy. The plate is filled to the brim and by the end of it, I was too. I put aside my fullness in order to enjoy a dessert. The butterscotch pecan ice cream atop a warm homemade waffle was the cherry on top of a wonderful, filling, and exceptional meal. As far as the service/staff, you couldn’t really ask for better. The hostess was a delight, seating us without a reservation, the waitress who took our drink order was pleasant as was the server who took our meal order and waited on us. The manager even stopped by to ask us about our veggie plate. If you haven’t checked this gem out, do so now!
