Today I stole away from a meeting for to visit a Chocolate Tasting at Draeger’s San Mateo( Unilocal research!) and sample Bay Area artisan chocolatiers. The 5 star standout for me was the melt-in-your-mouth high-end chocolates from Gâteau et Ganache. Chef/Owner Anni Golding brought several samples today, and when I say she brought them, I mean she«brought it.» I sampled the following chocolates: * La Cannelle(Organic Cinnamon) * Le Caramel Coux(Soft Caramel with a Hint of Vanilla) * Le Gingembre(Ginger) All were delicious and balanced. Another guest and I had a conversation with Anni about the ginger; was it too much or not enough? Our consensus was it was just right. It certainly didn’t hold back. There was no mistaking the ginger. It had a strong but not overpowering finish. I’m kicking myself for not trying her homemade marshmallow(I was chocolate-focused). Next time. These are hand-made, preservative-free chocolates(best when consumed within 7 days). Many ingredients are organic and local. The chocolates can be found at Draeger’s or online. I don’t have any photos to post for now, but you can see what the chocolates look like on the Gâteau et Ganache website.

Gâteau et Ganache has the BEST chocolates bon bons I have ever tasted! All exceptionally made with the finest chocolate filled with unusual flavors, such as passion fruit, blood orange and lavender, these truffles are unlike anything you will find at other chocolate shops. Makes a perfect gift or every day indulgence to be enjoyed with a nice glass of wine :) Although they do not have a store yet, you can buy them either online at or at the Draeger’s grocery store in Menlo Park.
