He’s an asshole who turned my wife into an asshole. Scumbag.

My wife and I have been seeing Dr Klein for a few weeks.
A few notes worth making:
A) Parking is easy, plentiful, and free. Yes, this is fairly minor, but that’s why I’m STARTING with that point. And given that my other preferred therapist is in San Francisco with horrific parking, this is worth noting.
B) Marty’s hours are seriously, seriously wacky. Depending on what your preferred times of the day to see a therapist are, this can be very valuable. Our first session with him was at 9:45PM and went to about 11:15PM. He keeps VERY late hours.
C) We have, on occasion, gone way over scheduled length of the appointment (in one case, our 50 minute appointment ended up being about 75 minutes). His flexibility and the fact we don’t get some sort of «I’m sorry, we’re out of time» in the middle of a crucial point in the discussion is huge, huge, huge I’m used to being practically cut off mid-​sentence, so the fact we have a graceful way to end appointments is invaluable.
D) Given ©, I’d have thought that he’d often run late. Despite his introductory materials noting that if he’s running late we’ll get the full 50 minutes (thereby actually sort of setting expectations for that happening a lot), so far he’s run late ONCE with us – and only by about 4 minutes.
I don’t have anything that I’d say is an obvious negative; one could argue his fee ($ ¹⁹⁵⁄₅₀ minute session, or $ ²⁷⁵⁄₇₅ minute session) is pretty damn high. It kinda is, but it’s in-​line with other therapists I’ve researched with comparable credentials.
One thing worth noting — this is critical for a therapist, IMHO — is the style issue. This is a totally personal preference. I prefer a very blunt straight-​to-​the-​point style. Marty’s as blunt as it gets. He asked us at some point at the end of the first session what worked for us in that session, and I noted that I thought he was an asshole. He preferred «confrontational.» I can roll with that, though it’s worth noting I meant «asshole» as a compliment :)
