QuantumCamp – Palo Alto

I have been involved with the Quantum Camp Community for the past year and it has been an amazing experience. Michael and his team are some of the most talented and dedicated educators i have ever worked with. They have created a class room environment that allows for exploration and interaction like I have not seen in other school environments.
Their hands on and personal approach is refreshing and is effective for learing.

Prices have risen dramatically since we started taking classes. He first time it was $ 400 for one session. We liked the ala-​carte classes… they seem to be really pushing the micro-​school now.
Class sizes are bigger than when we first started… leading to it kinda being rowdy sometimes. My child also had problems with being bullied, physically and verbally, the teacher addressed it but not well. She basically said «ok. If something happens again come tell me.» Not sure how that’s supposed to solve things??? For the stuff that was happening there really should have been a meeting with parents. In the end I feel kinda like the issue wasn’t addressed because we were just taking ala-​carte classes. The bully kid was taking the full micro-​school deal. Feel like they didn’t want to loose all that money…
And again. these problems could be solved with smaller classes. Have stopped classes here. My child who lives school and hands on based classes didn’t even want to go! He didn’t even want to finish the class we had enrolled in. Very out of character for him.
Also the instruction wasn’t really anything special. It happened after every class. My son confused, not understanding the concepts. He took science classes a few times. Just felt like they were trying to teach advanced concepts and maybe they should start with simple ones.
Have found other options for hands on learning, unlikely we will return.

My homeschooled children have taken two years of science classes here. I have one child whom is very academic and the other whom is very artistic. Both my children enjoy taking classes here. They do a wonderful job of balancing out the academics with hands on experimentation. My children have fun while learning complex concepts. Though we have LOVED Janis and Sharon as teachers, liked Corey as well, we did have one teacher which was a bit dry and bland. So the only reason I have not given 5 stars is because not all the teachers are as superb as the others. Another plus that I see is that they do frequently ask for feedback and clearly take it into consideration when making changes.
