I came in with a missing button on the front of my Pants emergency that I ripped off running to Caltrain.
Nina saved the day in 5 minutes, and dropped everything she was doing to help me.

I needed a silk bias-​cut gown altered down 2 sizes, and needed the work done quickly. I called around to a few tailors for quotes, and many in the area had a 10 to 14 day turnaround.
Nina was more expensive than the other shops in the area, but was able to do the work in 5 days. The alterations turned out great. If you need a quick turn around on a complex alteration, this is your place!

Nina’s work is top notch. I needed a pair of trousers and shorts hemmed and was happy to spend the $ 40 total for her work. My next trip will be for shortening the sleeves on two coats so I’m curious what that will cost. Good idea to get a quote at the time of drop off as someone suggested below. I don’t like $ surprises!

The only minor complaint I have is that we agreed she would call me when my garments were ready in one week. Never heard from her and went ahead and picked them up on my own at the two week mark.

I have gone to Nina for my clothing for many years and loved her work. Her sense for high fashion detail in the alterations has made her unique in her field. Recently, however, her work with the 4 pieces I have brought to her to work on over a years time have been so unconscionably sloppily executed that her expensive prices are not only no longer merited but she has cost me because of the clothes she has done a poor job with. What happened?!

While she did a great job at making some simple alterations to my dress, she charged me 70% of the cost of the dress itself. She had told me that it would be simple to add straps to this strapless dress. Then after the work had been done, she told me it had taken her much longer than anticipated and charged me $ 250 just for that and hemming the skirt. She gave me a very unprofessional hand-​written bill with no explanation of how many hours she had worked on it or how much she charges hourly. I was dumbfounded but paid it. If you want alterations done by her, I would ask for a quote first and ask her to check in with you if her estimate increases significantly. For that cost, I could’ve bought a much nicer dress that didn’t require any alterations.

Last summer I was best man in my buddy’s wedding. I needed alterations done on my tuxedo and my usual lazy self procrastinated till literally the last 24 hours. Me being in San Francisco. I called many local tailors none could confirm the job could be done in the short time. I found Tailor Plus on Unilocal.I called and spoke to «Nina» she assured me she could get the alterations on my tuxedo done. I was hesitant for Palo Alto was quite a ways from San Francisco. She assured me on the phone that she could the job done from what I described on the phone. I took a chance and went down to her shop. Amazingly she did get the job done PERFECTLY in less time then we agreed. The tux looked great and the price was fair. I highly recommend her place.

Nina does do great work and she’s very attentive to what you want to have done. I highly recommend her if you’re getting something complicated or special done i.e. customizing a suit or alternating a wedding dress. I however had brought in a simple cotton tank dress. I only needed it to be hemmed up at the bottom as I do with everything because I’m short and take the straps up at the top. Both these actions I could had hand sewn myself had I had the time but that is how simple the alternation was to give you an idea.
I didn’t think to ask how much it would cost because I’ve never paid more than $ 10 maybe $ 15 for something like this. When I showed up to get the dress, she charged me $ 40!!! To top it off, she said she had given me a special price?! I can’t even imagine how much she was originally going to charge me! I live in San Francisco and I’ve had 3 pairs of jeans hemmed (keeping the original hem) and it never came to $ 40 bucks! The dress in question didn’t even cost that much.
Needless to say, I’m happy with the work but very upset at what I consider price gouging. I feel like if I had asked up front about the cost, it would had been significantly less and she took advantage of the fact that I didn’t.
Just be forewarned when you visit the shop or I suppose any shop that you ask how much it will cost or you will end up with a nicely fitted item that you paid 3x what it’s actually worth.

I had three pairs of shorts altered here for length. The tailoring is flawless. The stitching and thread exactly matches what was used on the garment by the manufacturing. These were all knickers that were converted to long shorts. The hem on one of the knickers was very complicated but instead of cutting it off and simplifying the appearance, she recreated the exact same hem.
I’m not a big fashion and clothes guy but I would happily pay her to make custom clothes for me if she still did that. I will be taking all of my alterations here from now on.

Tailor Plus is excellent. Nina has a great sense of what’s needed to make your clothing fit perfectly and her tailoring skills are unparalleled. I have used several other places for alterations on the Peninsula, but Tailor Plus is the only place I use now.
