I can taste the difference between this and Maggiano’s, but I still give this place a 3 because it didn’t WOW me. Came here on a Friday at 12PM… right before the lunch rush! Within 30 minutes, this place was packed! My co-worker and I ordered: –1 order of orecchiette($ 17) //Beautiful plating!(Maybe it was the crisp white plate that did the trick.) My hugest complaint is that my dish was cold. The cheese on top, however, was delicious, and the veal was evenly distributed throughout. However, it felt a bit too oily for my liking, and I actually felt kind of sick after eating the whole plate. –1 order of Bufalino Panini with fries($ 12) //OH YUM, the cheese is so soft! Tomatos are juicy! And I like that the panini bread isn’t slathered in butter and isn’t the thick types. Frites were no bueno, though. Wish the panini was hotter! Felt luke-warm. Pros: –Beautiful ambiance. 2 hours went by and I didn’t even notice! –Simple menu. Easy to choose from and big portion sizes! Cons: –Mediocre service. The hostess and others walking around ignored us and didn’t even realize that the rain water was seeping on our table… finally had to move ourselves to another table before they noticed. –Luke-warm. Hugest pet-peeve for me! Every bite was indecisive of hot and cold. Tips/Observations: –Parking…you know it’s California Ave. –Reservations on phone! You either beat the lunch/dinner rush or make a reservation beforehand. Tips/Observations: –Did you know if you park on the side of the street in the wrong direction, it’s a $ 46 fine? –Bread(and water) have to be asked for. I am excited to try the pizza here next time, since it was humungous! However, a 3 is a 3 for this time around.

Very good Italian style pizza. My wife loved the seafood Risotto of the day. Very fast and friendly service. Very comfy chairs. A little pricey, maybe, but good for a special date night.

Love this place! It’s still a bit pricey, but def affordable considering the area. The food is simple yet delicious with great ingredients and the service is what really makes this 5 stars. The staff is so friendly, knowledgable and attentive. All the servers walk around to ensure that your drink and food are filled and satisfying. The restaurant is larger than it looks and has a covered patio area in the back with lights. I like the back better since it feels more open and is a good place to catch up with friends or talk to your date haha it also seems to be popular for birthday dinners or parties as well which is a plus. Our server Antonio was delightful! His Italian accent was charming and he did such a great job in tending to our table. We were so full by the end that we didn’t get dessert but he decided to pour us free shots of lemon liquor in place of it ahah My favorite dish here is the beet gnocchi! It’s soft but not mushy and the white garlic sauce is so good– I wanted to lick the plate ahhaha Will definitely be back!

I came here for lunch with co-workerws. I had the Orecchiette. The sauce was good but the pasta was to thick, doughy, and under cooked. My co-worker said it was, because it is «fresh pasta». I have had fresh pasta before and it tasted way better than this. For $ 17, I expected a lot more and it was mediocre. I may return to try the pizza, but won’t go back for pasta.

I’ve dined twice at Terun, and both were fantastic experiences. Their pizzas are some of the best I’ve had in the U.S., and their pasta dishes are great too. All the appetizers and other seasonal special dishes I’ve tried were solid as well. I don’t know a lot about Italian wines, but they seem to have a good selection of Italian wines since all the ones I’ve tried were delicious. Price can be somewhat steep, but given that it’s in Palo Alto, it’s not surprising to me. Sit in the back patio with some white wine, summer salad, and a good pie, and your summer night out is set!

I feel sorry for people that think this is good Italian food. It really is mediocre at best. We sat outside as it is a white table cloth type of place, with table set complete with bread plates. We were in from a cycling ride so felt put out about sitting inside on a Sunday afternoon, being so casual. That was fine. But for a place so ridiculously priced, with bread plates, you’d expect them to bring you bread, water, olive oil fir dipping or butter. Nothing. Never came. As for the food, I’m really surprised at all the high ratings. This place is tasteless, over priced and pretentious. I ordered the butter lettuce salad. $ 11. It was fine, but really had very little in it other than lettuce: a few bits of cheese and tiny wedges of grapefruit. The pizza($ 18) for which it is known for, was just OK. The sausage seemed highly processed, cut thin strips that looked like pepperoni and tasted dry, almost crispy burnt. My dish: pasta with mushrooms($ 17) was a very small portion. Kudos I guess for trying to make fresh home made pasta in house, but it was awful! It resembled Japanese Udon, slippery, slimy in your mouth, no flavor, no al dente and just not appetizing. Forget having a wait person come to your table to offer fresh Parmesan or cracked pepper on top of your under seasoned dish. Never came. Spent $ 60, two people without wine, cocktails, coffee or dessert. If you want pizza– go to Piology around the corner… or better yet make your own at home. I’m sure you could do better!

Service and ambiance: 5 stars — Great service and cool setting. We sat on the back patio which was dimly lit and fairly busy. It’s a casual place and I can tell — a very popular place with 20 – 30 year old age group, not that you wouldn’t like it if you’re(slightly) older like me! They sat us immediately on a Thursday night(we came in about 915 which was 45 minutes before closing) and they didn’t rush us or pressure us to order immediately which was very nice. Often times restaurants will remind you that they are closing and to please hurry but they let us take our time. Food: 4 stars — good but nothing spectacular. Different selections of pizza — we had the burrata(which is basically a special mozzarella and cream combo) making it extra creamy. The burrata pizza came with prosciutto and a big dollop of the cheese right in the middle(I didn’t like that). I guess if you’re a massive cheese lover it’s awesome but i prefer the cheese spread out over the pizza. The cheese was good but again for me, nothing spectacular. Maybe I’m just not a mozzarella aficionado. The other pizza was with sausage but since it’s been a couple days, I don’t really even remember — it was that impressive to me. It wasn’t terrible it just wasn’t memorable for me. The one thing I could tell was that the dough was fresh made and really delicious. I wouldn’t hesitate to come again just wouldn’t go out or my way to get back either. I think the specialty is the burrata and that’s what people come for. I just prefer thinner pizza with minimal fresh ingredients including cheese. Come to think of it — my sons would probably love this place. It’s definitely worth a try.

We decided to try this neighborhood restaurant for lunch and started with a flavorless side dish of brocolli rabe and fava beans. All kind of overcooked — boiled rather than sauteed. Would have been quite nice if they had been properly cooked, with some garlic and maybe some red pepper. But an uninspiring start. They are known for their pizza, or so I am told, so we were adventurous and selected a porcini mushroom pizza. The dough was undercooked and there was no crust. The mushrooms were canned. But the truffle oil did add some flavor. Service was attentive. I was surprised actually to spend close to $ 50 for this meal, including tip, with just a bottle of sparkling water. On the basis of value for the money, this would be one star.

Nice Italian restaurant with great ambience which is always packed. Our team shared 2 appetizers which were out of this world: 1) Burrata Cheese 2) Brussels Sprout. Definitely 10 out of 10 stars on these appetizers. I was disappointed with the Branzino al Farno(Sea Bass) entrée which was blend and it was no comparison to the appetizers /small plates. Plus the price charged for it was not worth it. 4 out of 10 stars. This dish dropped the overall grade from 4 stars to 3 stars. Service was great as team members continued to check in. Will definitely try pizza vs this dish which needs to be dropped from the menu. Will definitely stop by if in the area.

This place gets PACKED, even on a Monday evening so be sure to make a reservation! This place had a cool and hip modern Italian feel to it, and the color theme was very black-white-brown which was sleek. We got the burrata cheese and eggplant polpette for starters. The burrata was tasty, smooth and silky but still with a great texture, and the eggplant was nicely grilled. The eggplant polpette was next-level mindblowing concoction of flavors. The polpette itself was nice and crispy on the inside, and packed on the inside. It was served on a bed of sauce which was filled with mushroom cream sauce and bursting with truffle flavors. INCREDIBLE! We ordered 2 pizzas to share between 3 people: the schiaccata and the porcini. Mushrooms were delicious but I think they were overcooked, so they were too soft and lacked«bite» to them. It was also overly seasoned with garlic in my opinion, and was slightly overpowering. The schiacciata was good and the prosciutto worked relaly well with the burrata. Great pizzas though, and came in large portions!

TL;DR: Fantastic burrata! I can’t believe it took me so long to make it over to this place, but I’m so glad I finally did! Tried to make last minute reservations on a Saturday night, and of course they were full, but the host said they had room for walk-ins if we didn’t mind waiting. Since it was a gorgeous night, we decided to do just that. They use this great app called Nowait to manage walk-ins, which sends you a text when your table is ready(and, if you download the app, allows you to check how many parties are ahead of you while you’re waiting), which freed us to stroll around Cal Ave. The wait ended up being less than half an hour, which was perfect. We ordered the burrata appetizer, and, man, do they do a mean burrata. It was fluffy and creamy and gooey and stretchy — and huge! Not to mention totally delicious. I liked that they served it with grilled eggplant, which isn’t so common. Thankfully I had the foresight to also order the Schiaccata pizza as my entrée(prosciutto and a generous lump of burrata; no sauce). This was just perfect. Outstanding dough, simple but very high quality toppings. I also sampled my husband’s pasta(can’t remember what it was called, but it had lots of mushrooms and a white sauce), which was good, but not nearly as good as the pizza. For dessert we shared some tiramisu, which was quite tasty, if a bit heavy on the cocoa topping. We had a couple small service issues(too long of a wait for bread to go with the burrata and for someone to pick up our credit card), but not enough to warrant a star subtraction, given how good the food was.

YUM! Neapolitan style pizza is my FAVORITE type of pizza! There’s just something about the thin crust :) First, the service. The service is amazing here. Every person that I encountered was very friendly, accommodating, and attentive. Our waiting constantly refilled our carafes of water and checked up on us. Second, the location/restaurant itself. Street parking may be a little hard to find on the weekends, so I suggest giving yourself some time before your reservation. The restaurant is also quite small, so I do suggest making a reservation or coming before the lunch/dinner rush. The lunch and dinner menu don’t differ much(that I know of) besides the pricing. The seats are surprisingly comfortable but be careful, because they are a lot more soft than you think. Haha, it kind of surprised me. Also, there’s a good amount of outdoor seating right in front of the restaurant which is great! Lastly, the food! We ordered a bunch of appetizers: brussels sprouts, calamari(not your typical fried calamari!!), and the eggplant. The brussels sprouts was definitely my favorite appetizer. SOO good! It was covered with melted cheese and bits of pancetta. Next, we ordered the Terun pizza(which is basically a pepperoni pizza but its not pepperoni) and the pasta with beef-veal-pork. Both were delicious. Full of flavor, but not too overpowering. The pasta was mouthwatering. The little spaces in the pasta(they were little shells) were filled with the meat! For dessert, we ordered tiramisu. Do yourself a favor and order it. You won’t regret it :)

Easily one of the best new restaurants in Palo Alto, despite its location in the quieter California Ave strip. Terún serves fine Italian cuisine with an emphasis on their pizza, and it is quickly becoming one of my favourites on the peninsula. Start with one of the heavenly eggplant polpettes. These fried breaded balls have such melty eggplant inside that pairs nicely with the truffle cream, I can’t stop thinking about them. They only have two per order, so be prepared to fight for them. Their pizzas have a light, fluffy crust. I usually like red pies, and their tomato sauce is flavourful with just the slightest hint of tartness. Try the namesake Terun pizza or the Nduja if you want something savory; for those who prefer simple pizzas I’d recommend with the Margherita. But really, they are all delicious. But wait — there’s more! They have delicious desserts too. The gelato is great, but so is the panna cotta — don’t miss it!

Terun reminded me of the outdoor dining experience that I never got to have when in Italy. I stopped by for a weekday lunch and was able to get a seat outdoors before it was all taken. Weather in this part of town is also gorgeous, so make sure to opt for outdoor seating when available! The staff was extremely attentive and greeted us and treated us like we were in Italy — gah I’m dying to go back. Between two girls, we shared: Mixed Greens w/champagne vinaigrette Roasted Califlower w/creamy sauce topped with bread crumbs Porcini pizza Everything was extremely delicious and filling, better yet — it was vegetarian! I would totally come back to try some of their other dishes and to grab a glass(or two) of vino!

TL;DR: The best Italian Neapolitan-style pizza south of SF. We came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday. We were seated at a table in the back patio section of the restaurant. There are quite a few tables here, but the place is usually popular so be sure to make reservations. Also note that you won’t be seated until most of your party has arrived. The meal started with two appetizers — the focaccia and the burrata. Both are already excellent on their own, but are even more amazing together. The focaccia is fired in the same oven as the pizza, and is covered with a fragrant mix of fresh herbs. It’s actually more reminiscent of Lebanese man’oushe(za’atar flatbread). The burrata was fresh and creamy, which pairs well with the accompanying grilled eggplant. For our mains, we shared the ravioli, along with two pizzas: the Terun and the San Daniele. The ravioli are house-made pillows of awesome. The pasta is cooked to perfection, and stuffed with creamy ricotta. Finished not with sauce, but with wonderful shreds of prosciutto. Both pizzas were done superbly — the crust is thin, a little charred, a little chewy, substantial enough not to get soggy, even in the center of the pizza. This does mean the pizzas are on the«drier» side. If you love your pizza dripping with sauce, you might be disappointed. The Terun is studded with spicy Italian sausage — not too hot but enough to provide a kick. The San Daniele is another beast entirely. You can smell the aroma of truffles wafting into the air as the pizza is delivered to the table. Mushrooms, parmigiano form a trio of earthy flavors that pair spectacularly well with the arugula and prosciutto. If anything could be done better, maybe a touch more acidity in the pizza sauce would prevent it from being lost in the background against the strong flavors of the other toppings. Finally, dessert. Being gluttons, we ordered the bread pudding AND the caramel gelato to share. The bread pudding is dense and sweet, and comes with an equally-bad-for-you-but-very-delicious cream. The carmel gelato arrives sprinkled with salt and drizzled with olive oil, which sounds much weirder than it tastes. Once you have tasted the combination, no gelato will taste the same.(After finishing this gelato, the waiter brought out a vanilla gelato without salt and olive oil to celebrate my friend’s birthday. It was good, but bland in comparison). If you’re looking for a more American interpretation of the thin-crust pizza, head over to Oak and Rye in Los Gatos. Needless to say, I’ll be back here for more pizza.

Overall I’d like to give 3.5 stars — 3 for food, 3.5 for service and 4 for décor/ambience. Ordered a bunch of items between 6 of us, including a 4 pizzas. The pizzas were ok. They were fresh but the dough was lacking something, some pizzas did not come hot enough. The ’ Beets’ salad had a few pieces of beets and only greens. On the service side, we made the reservation two weeks in advance. Once we got there we felt a bit rushed(since the place was crowded) and thought that were trying to turn around table really quickly.

My friend is the type that orders fish & chips at a burger joint, chicken teriyaki at a sushi bar, and a burger at a taqueria. He just doesn’t give AF and is the least pickiest person I know. While deciding on what to order at Terún… Friend: What’s their specialty here?“ Me: «Neapolitan pizzas». Friend: «Great — I’m going to get the steak and fries!» Me:(- ____-) See what I mean! *Steak and fries arrive* Me: «So, how’s the steak and fries?» Friend: «Well, the salad is good!» Now, this is coming from a dude whose only source of fiber is the lettuce in his double double, animal style of course. I had a bite of his Tagliata: Angus Steak($ 28) and it was like chewing a sinewy rubberband. Sorry, but I’ve seen and tasted better steaks prepared from a George Foreman Grill: . But that’s what you get for ordering something that’s not a restaurant’s specialty right? W-R-O-N-G. We also ordered some highly touted items on Unilocal and Terún’s namesake pizza. The outcome? Mediocre. At best. And certainly, not worth the San Francisco prices. The Burrata w/eggplant and cherry tomatoes($ 12): was ok but more on the goopy side than creamy. The accompanying eggplant was blah and needed seasoning. The Eggplant Polpette w/taleggio, truffle cream($ 12): were merely two fried balls(lukewarm) of eggplant sitting in a pool of alfredo-like sauce(not much truffle flavor). It was decent but overpriced at $ 6 for one golf-sized ball. Supposedly, their pizzas are VPN certified which is a huge deal. It’s like having a Michelin star but for pizza. The Terún pizza w/san marzano tomato sauce, fior di latte mozzarella, cured spicy sausage($ 17): was incredibly disappointing and felt like it was haphazardly thrown together. While the crust had leopard spotting, it was dry, flavorless, and had no chew. The exterior crust wasn’t poofy and was more like a flatbread. The watery marinara was only placed in the middle of the pie(as was the cheese) making the center wet. The«spicy sausage» was nothing but burnt pepperoni chips. They were hard, crunchy, and hella salty. For legit neapolitan pizza, go to SF and try UPN, A16, Delfina, Del Popolo, Tony’s, Mozzeria, Zero Zero… shoot, I’ve even had better Neapolitan pizza from Firetrail pizza truck. I washed everything down with two cocktails which were pretty good(and strong) — Sazerac($ 13): and the Don Juan($ 12): . Our waiter was nice enough but after the appetizers were delivered, he passed by about five times and only checked in with us after we were done and ready for dessert. Understandably, he was busy so service doesn’t really have a bearing on my rating. Terún seems to be a favorite among the locals as it was packed by 6 pm so be sure to make reservations. It can get quite loud so it’s not recommended for an intimate date. There’s dog-friendly seating in their front patio and they also have an outdoor patio. The saving grace of the night? The Caramel Gelato w/sea salt and olive oil($ 8): . OMG. It’s one of THE best gelato’s I’ve had — deliciously creamy and dense with no air pockets. Too bad Terún is not an ice creamery. *Le sigh*

Arrived 30 minutes before closing during lunch time — their weird closing time is 2:30PMFYI, then opens again for dinner. ORDERED: –Sangrita Bianca — Ciroc, peach, Moscato, lemon, lime, raspberries. $ 12 **I like it, it’s sweet like Stella-Platinum and gives a good punch! –Homemade Beets gnocchi — Parmigiano, taleggio, gorgonzola $ 16 **SOGOOD. The creamy cheese supplements the beets gnocchi perfectly! Will order again. –Terun — San Marzano tomato sauce, fior di latte mozzarella, cured spicy sausage $ 16 **Tastes so delicious! Love the cheese that tastes so intense. Love strong cheese… and the spicy sausage. The food’s good but the service is just whatever. probably because it was near closing time.

I was disappointed in their pizza. It was very salty and dry, and absolutely didn’t justify a price of $ 20. The selection was also quite limited as nearly every pizza featured the same ingredients. The cocktails were quite good, but again, the price seemed excessive. The atmosphere was very loud, making conversation difficult. Overall, I felt the place had more hype than substance.

3.5 stars since I didn’t love more dishes than the ones I enjoyed. We came for dinner on a Sunday night at 6pm, and it wasn’t too busy at that time, but got more and more crowded as the night progressed. We tried: –Burrata Cheese(Grilled Eggplant, Cherry Tomatoes, Olive Oil, $ 12, ): Solid burrata, but not as creamy as I like. Although the grilled eggplant was delicious, I probably wouldn’t get this again. –Eggplant Polpette(Taleggio, Truffle Cream, $ 12, ): The flavors were good, although the taleggio was a bit overpowering. I liked the eggplant, but it was overfried just a bit. –Grilled Romaine(Avocado, Parmigiano, Lemon Dressing, $ 12, ): I didn’t like this at all– the giant piece of grilled romaine was really difficult to cut up and eat. I wouldn’t order this again although they do give you a giant portion. –Cavolfiori Gratinati(Baked Cauliflower Au Gratin, Parmigiano Cream, Bread Crumbs, $ 12) & Brussels Sprouts(Italian Pancetta, Gorgonzola, $ 13) [ : The cauliflower dish was good, but very creamy and rich. The brussels sprouts was ok– they could have been crisped more, and I would prefer it without gorgonzola. –Orecchiette: This was one of the specials for the night and it was solid for an orecchiette. It had a meat/bolognese type sauce which was flavorful. –Margherita(Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Basil, Olive Oil, $ 14, ): This was actually my favorite pizza out of the three, although it could have used more basil and mozzarella. I would likely order this again. –Terun(Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Cured Spicy Sausage, $ 17, ): The sausage was sliced like pepperoni, and I would have preferred the sausage balls. This pizza was too salty for me, so I wouldn’t order it again. –San Daniele(Prosciutto, Cremini Mushrooms, Mozzarella, Arugula, Shaved Parmigiano, Truffle Oil, $ 20, ): This pizza actually tasted better when we reheated it the day after, but it definitely has a lot going on. I prefer my pizzas on the simpler side so wouldn’t get this again. –Cuore de Millefoglie(Puff Pastry Filled w/Chocolate Cream, Served w/Chocolate Covered Strawberries, $ 12) & Cannoli Siciliani($ 8) [ : The puff pastry was my favorite out of the desserts, with the panna cotta as a close second. I liked the flakiness of the puff pastry, and that the chocolate cream wasn’t too sweet. However, the cannoli wasn’t very good– I liked the pasty cream filling, but the cannoli shell was way too thick and made it difficult to eat. Skip! –Lemon Panna Cotta w/Fresh Berries($ 8): Yum– this is a solid version of panna cotta, and had a nice lemon flavor. Recommended! –Grappa Moscato($ 12): YUCK– this is one of the worst grappas I’ve ever had, and it seriously tasted like rubbing alcohol. I took one tiny sip and could barely keep it down– skip! The service was solid and our server was very knowledgeable about the food and wine menu. Our food came out pretty quickly, but they really need to get some pizza stands since our table filled up with dishes, and it was difficult to eat comfortably, especially with the gigantic pizza trays. I felt like their food was close to being really delicious, but just fell short of the mark on this visit. However, I would consider coming back to try additional pizzas. Parking can be difficult since there is limited street parking, but there are some lots available as well.

I came here for a dinner for a friend’s birthday, and we had 11 people with a reservation. We got the table in the back, outside the restaurant, and the ambiance was really nice. The lights and heaters were nice, and it made the area look classy! The top was covered though. For food, I had a slice of the mushrooms pizza, and it was very potently truffle-oil flavored. Might have been too much, but alright. I ordered a margherita pizza for myself, and it was alright. The middle of the pizza was soggy and there was way too much crust/dough without anything on it around my pizza. The dough could’ve been chewier and fluffier, and there were burnt parts of my pizza top. Not much flavor going on either, and overall a pretty bland meal. At $ 14 a pizza, the quantity was good, not so much the quality. Including tax and the 18% gratuity, I paid $ 17.75(plus some more for my birthday friend’s share, but that’s beside the point). A margherita pizza in Italy is $ 5, if that. Quality not up to standards. Service was pretty good though; we were constantly checked upon for waters, drinks, etc. We also asked for bread, and the bread was quite tasty! Very soft inside and crunchy outside. Such a pity the food wasn’t amazing; ambiance and service were good!

One word: burrata. I am in love with Terun’s burrata. I could eat it all day every day, though it is quite filling. I’ve had the Schiacciata, Tricolore, and the Terun. If I could I would order the Tricolore without arugula and add the prosciutto from the Schiacciata. That would be an AMAZING pizza. One more time so you don’t forget, BURRATA. Also, you can’t leave without trying the Chocolate Tortino. The tortino with the gelato is a perfect combination. The warmth from the tortino and the gelato on top is to die for.

Despite my very pizza-loving self and the fact that I loved going to Palo Alto, I somehow conspired to miss this place in my many travels here. I guess that’s what happens when the only place you go to is University Avenue, but what do you know… California Avenue ain’t too bad either! My recent preference for New York pizza has definitely fed into also being a fan of Neopolitan pizza, which is why coming to Terún was perfect! Had the aptly named Terún pizza. A little tough to handle due to the thin and soft crust, but the ingredients were top notch and every bite was bursting with flavor! Also, do yourself a favor and get the burrata cheese appetizer. Wasn’t sure what to expect with that, but it was absolutely delicious! Service was excellent as well, food came out pretty quickly and we were well attended. Definitely would come again!

We ordered sea bass fish and eggplant dish and were quite disappointed from both. When we told the waitress and the person in charge they gave some explanation that it is Mediterranean sea bass.(We were in Italy and had great sea bass there). They noticed that we were disappointed. When the waitress gave us the cheque she offered us coffee. We agreed and wondered if they would put it ‘on the house’. But the surprise came when she took the cheque away and replaced it by a new one now including the coffee. Quite a disappointing Restaurant.

I come down(up?) to this area frequently for Stanford hospital. I have to say best pizza ever. The service was exceedingly quick, I was actually surprised. Everyone was friendly and personable. They had no issue accommodating my wheelchair as well. The owner heard it was our first time and offered us two olive oil sea salt caramel gelato. He was a really sweet guy and actually from Italy! It was heavenly. I was so so full, but just kept eating it. It was decadent. I had the veggie pizza with added mushrooms, because I love mushrooms, and my husband hates them, so I never get them. They were asking if something was wrong because I couldn’t eat the last two slices lol! No I was just full! :) The waitress was so very friendly, and very down to earth. I was a bit embarrassed because so many nicely dressed people were eating there at the time and i was in yoga pants and a t, but she made me feel at ease, and even joked with me when I was asking if there was really any dainty way to eat pizza(no, I use my hands like every other person). The water comes in these clear wine bottles and everything is delicious. We went back the next week. When we come up again, in march or april I believe, I will be going back, I’m looking forward to slowly sampling most of their menu. Thank you for not only the amazing food, but the superb service, especially to someone in a wheelchair, this is so often important.

Had a fantastic time here a week ago with a party of eight. My friend recommended this place for our holiday get together and I was pleasantly surprised. Terun has a decent bar upfront and had a very hip ambience. We sat out back where they hosted most of the larger groups with multiple heat lamps.(Made a reservations 2 weeks in advance) For small plates we ordered: Frittelle — Just ok for me as it was fried pizza dough with porchetta. Cavolfiori Gratinati — Cauliflower, very tender. Farro & Calamari — Not your typical fried calamari, but super refreshing. It was tossed in red peppers, parsley, and green onions. To share: Pizza San Daniele — Fantastic pizza with fresh arugula, prosciutto, mushrooms, and best of all TRUFFLE oil! Gnocchi — So delish! Perfect consistency of the Gnocchi and great flavor. Chitarrine — The Beef/Veal/Pork Ragu is amazing and definitely the star for this dish. Branzino al Forno — The sea bass was so buttery and fresh. Highly recommended! Great service and awesome food with great friends. I loved that the owner came out to thank us for visiting and had a glass of wine with us! Not your typical pizzeria, definitely worth a trip out to Terun. 4.5STARS

There’s a certain server here(keep forgetting to write down his name) that waited us a couple times and he makes the experience dining at Turún even more pleasurable because he speaks to us in Italian. For the most part I don’t understand but I love it coz it feels like I’m in Italy. Haha Food is very good. Tastes more authentic than other Italian restaurants I’ve been to in the area. Love, love, love their grilled romaine salad. It’s simple, yet so delicious! Cavolfiori Gratinati(baked cauliflower gratin) is also very good. I’ve had many of their entrees and all had been good. I have not ordered anything here yet that I didn’t like, but have more to try. For desserts, I usually get the tiramisu.

Cheese, cheese, and cheese. The pluses of this place: –food comes super fast after ordering –service is super prompt –nice variety on menu options –decent flavors on their dishes Not so great: –dessert is meh I did enjoy the food, service, and their pizza recommendations. Remember, it’s thin crust here all the way. The dough is a little chewy and not crispy so this should give you an idea of what you are in for. Overall I am a fan of this place for dinners with friends or a date!

Came here for a work lunch. The food is good, service is good, and the prices are pretty decent. It’s a nice place on Cal Ave. if you’re craving Italian. We started with the foccacia bread, which isn’t normal bread loaf, it was more of pita bread cuts, but had all the flavors. It was really good! For an appetizer for $ 10, it seemed a little overpriced though, and more something they would start the table with. I was reallly indecisive, but opted for the gnoochi because it was made with beets which sounded really unique and much healthier. I was a little disappointed to hear that I wasn’t able to add mushrooms or any other veggies to the dish because the chef makes it a particular way. I’m respect that, but kinda sucks when I was tryin to just add some vitamins. Our food came our rapidddlyy(always makes me nervous lol) but served well. My food was tasty, I couldn’t really tell the beets were there though. it was topped with a gorgonzola sauce which I told them to go light on bc it’s a strong cheese. I was stuffed after! We also got the caramel gelato with sea salt and olive oil. Yum! Any ice cream lovers like me… get this! The olive oil/sea salt was really unique but complemented the caramel gelato phenomenally.

Nice place, friendly staff. 6 of us so lots of food. Definitely a fan of their pizza. Wood fired, slightly charred crust is delicious. Their crust says soft, in a good way, and has good flavor. Highlights — Pizza of course — Nduja, Terun, Frittelle — so simple, yet so good. Chittarine — spinach pasta was excellent, great texture. Very good, simple dish. Antipasto platter — overload of meats, burrata and bruschetta. Hard to go wrong, all very good. Lasagna — again pasta was the star. Simple yet very flavorful. Also had the porcini pizza. Could have been better if the mushrooms were cooked first and then put on the pizza so they crisp up a bit, also less truffle oil. Very strong. Overall a very good experience. Will definitely be back.

I was so blown away by this place when we visited! The food is so good. I was really sad that they were done with the seasonal watermelon salad(I’ll have to wait until the weather gets warm again!) but the rest of their food surely made up for it. :) The burrata cheese appetizer was heavenly. So fresh. We ordered two pizzas and they were both delicious. I wish we could have ordered even more! I am so excited that we were able to give this place a try. Definitely the best italian food I have had in the south bay by far!

I would have to say this place is one of the more authentic Italian places I have been to(and I have recently traveled to Italy and eaten at non-touristy places I swear). They have the dry flat pizza style that focuses more on the topping than the pound of cheese most American places put in their pizza. Excellent toppings ranging from prosciutto to burata to eggs. The appetizers are also fantastic(I would recommend the focaccia and burata cheese with the grapefruit beer to go along with it). To top it off the service is fantastic because they come around to talk to you!(Not ignored for once? Wow) Although this place is on the pricey side, I would recommend coming!

Pizza, pizza, pizza. No doubt their pizza is the star here, as many others before me have raved and reviewed about it. I wasn’t in the mood for pizza(when am I anyway?) but I’m always in the mood for Italian. I never skip appetizers at an Italian restaurant. The flavors are usually light and prepares you for the goodness that is to come. The cavolfiori gratinati is a savory combination of the simplest of flavors: parmigianno cheese, cream and breadcrumbs on cauliflower and baked in the oven until golden. If you hate eating vegetables, you would be converted with this dish. My small SF studio reeks of fish for days whenever I bake/fry/broil fish at home. The bright cherry tomatoes, salty black olives and sharp parmesan on Mediterranean sea bass over a bed of fregola sarda was a supreme delight. This is easily the best dish on the table even though the Tagliata(NY steak and fries) was a strong contender too. I’m docking a star for the unaccommodating service we received here on our group dinner. Also, the cocktails were sub par and for a full bar that looks like it has potential, they couldn’t even make a proper mocktail. Maybe I should’ve just stuck with wine instead, but I make for sleepy company on vino. Also, there was a mistake with our billing that we had to correct twice with our server. Nevertheless, the bustling ambiance and solid food make it for a great dining destination in Palo Alto. I highly recommend making reservations well in advance to ensure a problem free night.

Great little restaurant for date night, dinner with a group of friends, or a tinder meet up like the table next to us. We made reservations knowing how busy this place can get and glad we did since people were waiting by the entry way and bar to get seated. The whole back part of the restaurant is covered with heat lamps, nothing really fancy, but still a cozy feel. Our server was on top of everything; from drink orders to filling up our glasses when the wine was running low, to making sure the food was coming out on time. What we ordered: Piatto Misto — HUGE fan of their Fresh Truffle Pecorino and honey. The prosciutto was pretty awesome too. San Daniele — Perfect amount of toppings and truffle oil. Nothing overpowered each other and each bite was a mix of goodness. You can definitely share this. Bone in Ribeye(special) medium rare — It was actually more on the rare side, but not bad. I’ve had better rib-eyes but I did appreciate the size of the cut that I was given. We also shared this too. Caramel Gelato with Sea Salt and Olive Oil — WOW! This was a nice way to end a meal thats on the saltier side. Flavors are on point, but a dash of lavender would’ve set this over the top. Still damn good! Might look into having my birthday dinner here in a couple of months…

When I saw this place was owned by 3 Italian friends coming together to open a restaurant, I had to pay a visit. Saw photos of their pizzas which looked just like they do in Italy — large and very thin all around, crisp edges, prosciutto and truffle oil options(I lived in Italy and really miss their pizza). This place satisfied my craving! The place is super cute and sheik. Modern looking but still feels homey. Indoor and outdoor seating available, but bar seating may be faster if there’s a wait. Aglianico red wine as a recommendation from the waiter. Bold, peppery, but still smooth. I’ve also had the Pinot Nero before which I enjoyed. Both more hearty wines to go with heftier meaty entrée options. Caprese salad(special for the day) — large ball of fresh mozzarella in the center of huge tomato chunks, cucumbers, and olives drizzled with olive oil. Served with bread. Recommend if they have it — great portion size, good for sharing. San Daniele pizza — big pieces of prosciutto on top of a bed of arugula. Large parmesan shavings on top. I loved it, but I’m also biased because I’m all for anything with arugula and truffle oil on it. Strozzapreti pasta — it was okay, very meaty if you’re into ground beef. Not overly saucey in any way which is good. Could use a bit more flavor in my opinion, I would try something else over this when I go back. No room for dessert because we ordered a good amount of food for two people! Got excited to hear about this ‘authentic’ Italian restaurant(I always feel snobby when I say the word authentic lol), and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Will be back soon!

The biggest lie I’ve continually told myself is that, «I’ll only have one slice of pizza.» Hmm, first step is admitting it, right? Heh. No lie though, the pizza here was absolutely exquisite, so it’s kinda unfortunate that I had to share with my mister. Special shout out to fellow Unilocaler, Janice C., for inviting us to dine here with you! Two thumbs up for the food and wine at this sophisticated pizzeria. We ordered: + ‘Terun’: My fiancé took his first bite before I did, and after he did, he looked at me and said, «So good.» Yeah, he wasn’t kidding. The high quality fior di latte mozzarella was particularly fresh and savory. The cured spicy sausage was so rich in flavor and the plum tomato sauce was mouthwatering. The wood fire oven lightly charred, thin crust was perfect. I’m accustomed to a plethora of toppings on a pizza, so I was iffy about how good this super simple pizza could be. In this case, the less toppings, the better. I highly recommend ordering this one! + Branzino Al Forno: Funny, this dish was actually the major highlight during our dining experience at this ‘pizzeria.’ The delicate Mediterranean sea bass filet was lusciously flaky, immaculately prepared. Beneath the filet, lay a bed of fregola sarda, which complemented the fish beautifully. The fregola sarda reminded me of a slightly grainier risotto. The light acidity of the cherry tomatoes and the green onions enhanced the perfectly cooked fish and pasta. We were really impressed by the flavors — this dish was definitely dreamy. Service — it was disappointing during one particular moment. I wish they had been a little more accommodating to my friends’ special requests. Regardless of how substandard the service was, I’m still a fan of this place, because of how good the food is. Engaging ambiance for a pizzeria: posh interior design, wine glasses, cocktails, beer, and a bustling venue full of animated conversation. Great for groups or date night. Considering how busy it was on the evening of our visit, I would recommend calling for reservations.

Terun is one of my favorite pizza spots! Their pizza crust is one of the best. Even though the crust is thin, the toppings don’t make it soggy like at other places. They do a really good job of balancing the toppings. We usually get the Terun pizza but the last visit we also got the Tricolore and it was my fave of the meal. The Njuda is also good if you want a little kick. The salads are good and we usually start with the Caesar. Service is friendly but on the slow side. Order drinks early and often to make sure you have some with your meal.
