See also: Google. I think i’m not«allowed» to give our café only two stars because, i don’t know, it’s free, and made with fresh, semi-local ingredients in creative recipes, and, yknow, FREE. So i’ll let the tasty desserts, lighter dinners and really excellent salad bar counterbalance the greasy, heavy, sauce-coated everything else and go with three stars. I’d just like to feel a little more healthy and less oil-filled some days…

Breakfast reminds me of Google: some salmon spread with capers and onions, oatmeal, eggs/omelettes, bacon, sausage, and some veggie substitute. Toss two different kinds of smoothies, and you’re done. It’s good, it’s tasty — I like it. I just find it weird how the main food is served downstairs, but you’ve got to walk up two flights just to get to some side dishes. Also, re-racking the trays for cleanup is a total bottleneck.

The Underground is Facebook’s first in-house operated café. It serves hot breakfast, lunch, and dinner to Facebook’s employees and guests. The place ROCKS. Executive Chef(aka Culinary Overlord) Josef Desimone is famous for starting-up many of the best cafes at Google, including my favorite the No Name Café. Several of Google’s best chefs have now joined Josef here at the Facebook café, and the food is fresh, inventive, locally sourced, and that boils down to freakin STELLAR. And did I mention what a cool chef Josef is? Definitely find a moment to meet him, he’s a great guy. Don’t miss an opportunity to hit Sushi Day here. It is insanely great. On one visit the amaebi nigiri and hand rolls were to die for. The dessert chef is awesome; tiramisu on one visit was out of this world. Everyone is upbeat and friendly. Service is excellent. And of course it is all free to Facebookers and their guests. Do whatever you can to eat at this place while it is relatively small. Those of you who have dined at the now oversized google cafes know what I’m talkin about.
