Cute, old-school and delicious ice cream parlor! Serving sizes are huge! Lines can get pretty long but they move pretty fast. Seating outside and inside.

Hands down the best ice cream in Chicago area! The place itself is very small just a couple of tables. Well worth the trip ! 5 stars

I will echo many of the 5 star ratings written here for this shop and tell you that despite the long line it is worth the wait! Aside from the huge selection of flavors, sorbet, sherbet and gelato, there are other tasty treats to consider. Portions are big, just look at the pictures below. By the way, offering Illy coffee and some baked items too.

Best homemade ice cream… hands down. There’s nothing like ice cream at Plush Horse after a bike ride in the Forest Preserve. They have a HUGE selection of flavors as well as sorbet, sherbet, and gelato. You won’t be disappointed at the taste but you will be annoyed at how packed it gets in there. The service is fast and friendly so that helps.

This place is amazing! We came after hiking at Swallow Cliffs and we’re delighted by the HUGE scoops and the great chairs outside to lounge in. Beware, two scoops is an insurmountable challenge! Yum!

I’ve been coming here since I was little! This used to always be our go to spot after volleyball games, swim meets, everything! Going here as an adult, I get equally as excited as I did when I was a kid. Everything here is amazing and delicious. The line is usually out the door but it’s sooooooooo worth it.

If you have not gone there for ice cream, you don’t know what you’re missing! It’s a great place to get ice cream, but also a great place to stick around and eat it! It has that old-fashioned feel to it! The kids will love the large imitation fuzzy ‘plush’ horse inside. There are a few tables inside, but never enough during the hot summer hours for everyone. You’ll find them pretty busy during the summertime. At times, you’ll see a line out the door waiting to get in! They have plenty of varieties to choose from as well! I like their chocolate frozen yogurt to avoid the fats and cholesterol in ice cream. The link to their site:

Some of THEBEST homemade ice cream you will EVER have, guaranteed. With over 20 flavors to choose from, you’re bound to find one or even a combo you enjoy. I personally recommend the Pistachio Nut, a flavor I cannot leave Plush Horse without having in my cup or cone.

Classic ice cream shop. In an old house with hardwood floors, smells of homemade waffle cones wafting in the air– it doesn’t get much better than this. The Plush Horse has tons of flavors and is super delicious! They have a nice area out back to sit and enjoy your frosty treat. Try it– you’ll love it.

SOS send ice cream to Arizona. By far the best, most yummiest ice cream I have ever had! I can’t wait to go home just so we can go here.

I’ve never reviewed Plush Horse? Never? How is that possible? I’m sure you can tell from the other reviews that this place is a local favorite. Which means the line might be out the door and crazy long. But it’s seriously worth it and wonderful! You can try flavors, you can stand and stare at each one, and you could spend an hour deciding if you are like me. Everything we get here is awesome, but note that portions are huge. You might want two scoops of ice cream but you might be better off getting one scoop. Yes, you can get two flavors and a half scoop of each. Because you need to try at least two flavors! This place is a great local business. They’ve been around since I was a kid, and if you really like ice cream, you must try it. I know people who have favorites but this will compete with your staple place for ice cream. I don’t believe they have soft serve, but you won’t leave disappointed!

The ice cream is amazing!!! The servings were huge, so prepare yourself. The service can use a bit more polish but all in all a great experience. The décor is fun and kitschy.

This is super high quality, delicious ice cream. My favorites are chocolate malt and cookies and cream. The parlor is pretty chaotic when it’s crowded, which is basically every night in the summer, but definitely worth a stop!

If you’re on a diet its worth breaking to come here!!! First off… this is ice cream like no other… the creaminess surpasses all ice creams ive ever tasted. Also, they do not believe in portion control… its actually portion OUTTACONTROL. A one scoop is close to a pint of ice cream and some what cheaper than a pint of B&J. If you plan on getting any specialty sundaes plan on sharing, unless you can finish it… kudos to you! The prices are so reasonable too. Funny thing is I live in Vegas now and make it a point to go to PH every time I go home even in the winter when it is below Zero… it is a MUST try when you’re in the south burbs Chicago. Check it out… you might like it!!!

Let me tell you what made me excited: Pretzel. Cone. A little salty to mix with your creamy, sweet ice cream. It’s a taste combo made for dreams. What else? The pretzel cone is less absorbent than the regular cones. It doesn’t get wet, soggy, or soft. It doesn’t ooze sticky, melted ice cream down your hand. The firm pretzel cone pairs perfectly with the gloppy ice cream. I got Jameson gelato on a pretzel cone. Exactly. Fan-freakin-tab-ulous! I paid for just one scoop but they put at least three on my cone. Same went for M too. She got pecan praline on a regular cone. She thinks hers was better, but I think that’s just jealousy talking. And, to make things better, there was a life-size pony with a heart right there in the shop. Tell me how it could get better? I don’t know. Maybe a unicorn? Maybe fairies? Oh! They have a parking lot. I love having a place to put my car. Prolly not that big of a deal if you’re from the area, but I am in Chicago where parking is a b– so I was grateful. This is the only thing… Perhaps it’s nothing. IDK. But The Plush Horse had some non-ice cream items to buy. You know — like cookies, muffins, and bread. It was all super cute looking. Some loaves of bread were wrapped and on top of the counter and one of them had mold on it… Yuck! So I told the register guy who was thankful and said he’d do something about it… but he never did. But no worries. I’ll only eat ice cream on a pretzel cone at The Plush Horse anyways. :-)

I went here for ice cream today. I love all the old-fashioned décor inside. The service today is fast as always and very friendly. I had a scoop of Apple pie and mint chocolate chip. The Apple pie is my favorite! It has some actual pieces of Apple pie! The mint chocolate chip ice cream has good flavor! I will come back!
