We had issues with some of the service we received and they went above and beyond to correct it!

I really enjoy shopping here and working with Dre, who is one of the nicest and most knowledgeable bike mechanics I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. In general, your stereotypical bike mechanic has a holier-than-thou attitude about their knowledge that I try to avoid. Performance Bike is one of the first bike shops I’ve been to that respects their customers, no matter how much or how little they know about bikes. Sometimes the wait takes a little while, as one review said, but that’s because they take their time to ensure everyone gets completely taken care of.

Their head mechanic really knows his stuff and they typically have good turn around times on service. Their selection products is expansive and with great prices.

You shouldnt go here if you dont know what youre looking for. Sales people are hit or miss but the main mechanic is pretty awesome. I go here on sundays when Beans is closed if I need something fast

I often come here to purchase accessories, such as clothing, helmets, and glasses, so I decided to give this place a chance when I was recently shopping for a carbon road bike. I stopped by after work on a weekday, and it took at least 15 minutes to get help. And when I finally did get helped, the salesperson didn’t seem to know much at all about their carbon road bikes. Eventually he tracked down another salesperson who knew a little more. Performance basically carries two brands of road bikes: Fuji and Scattante. Oddly, the best bike I test rode was a leftover GT, which was light and responsive and a great value, but was just too small. Overall, I test rode 3 bikes. However, before I could take a test ride, I had to fill out a waiver form. No other bike shop ever had me fill out a waiver form. And when I came back another day, they had me fill out the form again. Apparently they don’t keep forms on record. If you really want to take a Fuji bike for a test ride, I recommend going during the week before rush hour. If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll get a knowledgable salesperson. However, my advice is to visit a smaller bicycle shop that will have a more knowledgable staff, and a nicer selection of bikes.

I have been here a number of times to get bikes fixed or for parts, as they have good sales from time to time. I also bought a bike a few years ago from them that turned out to be a great deal. I actually like the low pressure atmosphere and found everyone to be helpful. They get a little backed up in the service department in-season, but that goes with the territory. Not sure what the complaints are about; they are not consistent with my own experiences there. If you know what you want, there are good deals to be had.

This place is the Wal-Mart of bicycle shops, plenty of product, an array prices, and a staff that knows nothing about bicycles. Unlike any other local bike shop the staff comes and goes with such frequency that you never know what level of bad service you are going to get, just expect it to be bad. I was talking to an employee about folding bicycles and he tried to sell me a FELT racing bike. The mechanic had to explain to the employee what a «folder» is. If you know exactly what you are looking for shop here. Otherwise there are better options along Route 30.

I went to this shop with my husband. He was looking for an item or two for his bike and I was looking for apparel and some bike accessories for a Tri. I asked a question about the differences between two objects and the salesman turned and answered my husband, effectively ignoring me. That should have been my first clue. I then had another question about bike toe clips and pedal clips. The salesman seemed not to know much about his merchandise and was basically disinterested in answering my questions. I asked about their selection of bike shoes and he showed me two pairs of men’s shoes and said he didn’t know when they would get the women’s shoes in(not sure why he showed me mens…). In the midst of me asking him another question about the shoes and clips he began speaking again to my husband about our previous purchases at the store, whether we had the store points card, and once he found out my husband had purchased a bike at another store– tried to convince him that they would have sold it to him much cheaper at Performance. He then asked my husband how much he spent, and proceeded so spend the next 10 minutes discussing the bikes that he would have sold my husband, despite my husband telling him he already bought a bike. It didn’t deter our salesman, however, as he continued to drill my husband about his recently purchased bike and show him the other bikes that were«better», and what he missed out on. Nevermind the fact, I had completely walked away at this point, having had none of my questions answered. His arrogance and disinterest in my questions definitely lost him a sale, and lost Performance Bicycle customers. We won’t be heading back there any time soon.

It’s hit or miss here, it depends on the day of the week and who is working here. But no matter who is working here, their bike selection seems to be limited to Fuji and Scattante, both minor producers of bikes. Their energy food selection is good and cheap and I come here for that mostly. Stocked up on Gu here this week, it was on sale, of course. Their clothing selection is not real exciting. If you come here once and get their affinity card(seems like EVERYONE has them now) they will pound you with emails for weeks on end. There are so many sales and promotions that you just end up confused and walk into the store and say, what’s on sale? It’s one of those places where if you ever pay the«regular» price(not that it even exists) you will be severely ripped off. Too bad Beans moved to West Chester, that was a sad day.

Great prices, but a little lean on the personal service. If you know what you’re looking for it’s great, but if you need information and advice, it’s hard to get it here.

This place sucks the big one fo’ sho’. I purchased a bike from this dump and it was an awful experience. Salesman had an attitude like I was wasting his time. That should have been my first warning to get the hell out of there, but prices were so low at this chain-store that I decided to let it go. I should have listened to my heart and not my wallet. Shame on me. So I ended up buying a bike and had many issues with it. I brought it in several times for adjustments and received a lame excuse + condescending attitude each time from some kid working there(never once took the bike back to the workshop for a proper adjustment or look-over). Listen, I admit that I’m no bike expert but when the brakes aren’t centered, the chain rubs against the dérailleur, and the front dérailleur won’t shift up to the next chain ring on a brand new bike — we have issues that are fo’ real kid. But these issues were never resolved. Finally, I returned the bike and walked away from this place. I question what they mean when they say«100% satisfaction guarantee» because I didn’t get 100% of my money back(deducted a $ 50 cleaning fee for a squeaky clean bike?). I purchased a bike from a different bike shop and have been happy ever since. I only think of Performance Bike in Paoli in my nightmares. I would recommend that one avoid this place like the plague. Performance Bike cares about its customers as much as al Queda cares about world peace.
