Quaint, comfortable, efficient and roomy. Friendly owners and great location. Not fancy but that wasn’t what we were looking for. Perfect option for economical stay in Paonia.

This is a cute little motor lodge in the old-school tradition, yet it has been completely redone and updated. The interiors are cozy, yet modern and very clean. Quite a deal for $ 81 per night. Unlike the other reviewer, we did not have any trouble with smelling smoke. We were told the hotel is non-smoking and we did not see any ashtrays.

Someone has put a lot of time and money into fixing up this little motel on the edge of town. The rooms are clean and the gardens are nice. However, this place can only be enjoyed by a smoker. It’s clearly run by smokers, for smokers. Every room has a chair and an ashtray just outside the door. There is an ashtray at every sitting area. We stayed in a room near a common area that included a table(and ashtray). Even with the windows closed, we could hear every word of a guests’ insipid but lengthy call(at 10PM), and his cigarette smoke managed to work it’s way around the single pane windows and door. Walking back from dinner, one must walk a gauntlet of smokers sitting in the narrow walkway. While options in town are few, we plan to try other places before we come here again. Chain smoker? Four stars, at least.

Called ahead & showed up an hour later, late spring is pretty quiet around this region. Front desk was efficient and we got 2 rooms facing the neat little garden area. Rooms were comfortable & well appointed with full size refrigerators, stoves & coffee makers. The ceiling fans are a nice touch too. Across the street is a liquor store and a great Italian restaurant so all basic needs are covered! Motorcycle friendly, no Amex cards though.

I’d never recomend this place! Several things were unacceptable: –The room we were told we were reserving was not the room they gave us and they are were full so we could not be moved. We felt trapped. –The price for our room was $ 150.00 for the night which is a bit steep for that part of Colorado but we were willing to pay it as we’d assume the accommodations would be very nice and comfortable. However, our room was in bad shape, it not been remodeled in over a decade at least, the beds were uncomfortable and the bedding was stained etc etc… –We did ask for a discount since the room was not the room we had reserved and honestly the room overall was pretty lame but owner said«no»! Small town business owners should work with customers… they will never see us again and we will definitely tell all of our wine drinking, fruit picking friends that go to Paonia regularly of our experience. The women who works the front desk was very nice and helpful!

The Rocky Mountain Inn is a great little place to stay while visiting Paonia … The rooms are affordable, clean, and pleasant. It’s all wood paneling with a friendly, unpretentious rustic feel. My bathroom featured Joe Cocker curtains, complete with various scenes of him singing and other activities relating to his life. The window covering had me puzzled for a couple of days, that is – until we drove by his Mad Dog ranch far up in the hills! Darla, the front desk manager, was more than sweet. And what a great laugh! She gladly gave me directions to all the spots I had to visit and even recommended what restaurants to eat at in town. Verizon has almost no signal in Paonia(be forewarned) and she showed me exactly where and how to stand inside the door frame of the office to get a call through … I was worried that the close proximity of my room(number 11) to the main road would be too loud, but discovered that the whole town is pretty much buttoned up and put to bed by 11 pm at night. After that, it’s dead quiet until the morning time. Being a one-story motor court design, there was no thumping on the ceiling until all hours and no screaming kids gamboling about in the parking lot. And for me, that’s motel heaven …
