I stopped in here for a weekday lunch on a Friday in May. There’s not a lot of choice in Sarpy County(Bellevue, Papillion, La Vista, Gretna, and Springfield) if you want a Gyros. In fact, I can only think of two places: Grecian Gyros in Tara Plaza in Papillion and John’s Grecian Delight in Southroads Mall in Bellevue. Just two. I suppose there is Adana’s Kebabs in Twin Creek Plaza in Bellevue that serves Doner Kebab and that is very similar to Gyros. So, unless you want to drive 20 minutes into Omaha you’re stuck with one of those two places. This place is run by a gruff old man that seems to do everything he can to live up to that stereotype. You cannot tell if he is joking or being rude or a bit of both. I ignored it. I can see where some people who get rubbed the wrong way by him. I’m guess he continues to operate this place because it’s a better alternative than spending his golden years sitting at home staring at daytime television. Gyros are average. It’s Kronos which is basically the Sysco of Mediterranean cuisine. Most Gyros places use Kronos so when people say one place’s Gyros meat is better than another’s I have to stifle a laugh. It’s all the same meat from the same source cooked in the same brand and style of veritical broiler. The only thing that varies with the meat is the temperature and perhaps, if they pre-shave it and let it sit around, moisture level. Toppings are standard. Tzatziki is standard. Pitas are standard. Fries are the frozen-and-out-of-a-bag kind that most restaurants serve. Overall, very average. Not great, but not bad either. They stick to serving primarily Gyros, so don’t come in here expecting to see a variety of other Greek cuisine on their menu. Based on other reviews, some people found it dingy and dirty. I did not. While it certainly isn’t modern and doesn’t go for the bright, open, minimalist approach so many new restaurants do I wouldn’t call it a dive, a «hole in the wall,» or a greasy spoon. I’ve been to those types of places and this place isn’t nearly at that level. Some people must lead a rather sheltered and pampered existence if they think that what, in my opinion, is your average strip mall restaurant is a «hole in the wall.» It is clean and so were its restrooms. It roomy and there are a lot of tables. I don’t see why everyone was getting their food to go. I’m not sure why so many people prefer to spend their workday lunch breaks eating in their car or at their desk. That sounds depressing as hell. This isn’t one of those awkward restaurants where you don’t want to sit down for fear the owner will spend the entire time staring at you while you eat. It has a comfortable dining room, so enjoy it. To the reviewer that said she told the guy cooking she was going to Unilocal about the place: Not cool. Not cool at all. You’re the type of Unilocaler that gives Unilocal a bad name. Never state you’re going to be writing a Unilocal review because it sounds like you’re expecting a superior experience because you’re a Unilocaler. Bad form. Especially for an Elite. TL;DR: Your average strip mall Gyros restaurant.

It was a great amount of food for the price. The people were friendly and we got quick service. Only thing I would suggest for improvement would be the sauce for the gyros. Ours tasted mainly like sour cream. Wish it was better. The meat was great, but lost it with the sauce.

My first visit here and it was on a Sunday during lunch hours. It’s definitely a hole in the wall and easy to miss, but it’s in a small plaza right across from the Super Target. I had a huge gyro with sauce and it was delicious. I give this 4 stars only because the chef wasn’t as welcoming as other cooks/owners at food spots here in town… but the gyro, at least, was amazing.

I have been driving past this place for a while now so when my wife wanted Greek food, I decided to give it a whirl. The first thing I found was that the menu was a bit confusing and the old guy didn’t help much. You either order his way or you are in for an argument. However, I got past this barrier and was able to order. I had the gyro sandwich with a Greek salad. My wife had a pork tenderloin with fries. The gyro was pretty good and the Greek salad was just ok. The pork tenderloin was soft and the fries were good. My wife was surprised at the lack of grease on either one. We believe they dried the grease off which is nice. Overall, the food was good but the old guy is grumpy. I would go there again. :)

Great little hole in the wall place. I’m new to the Omaha area and when I asked coworkers where to get good gyros, they said this place. It’s not a fancy restaurant and food is made to order. I was happy with the food and service.

Good gyros, plenty on the menu I haven’t tried, service was fast even though there was only one person working, would definitely go back.

Trying to grab a quick lunch and I noticed this place was close to where I was working. I love me some gyros, so I figured I’d try it out. Interesting little place where you just order from a counter and go sit down. We ordered a couple gyro combos get handed our soda cups and all the soda was lacking syrup. No biggie tho, A sign I should have ordered water. Well he calls our name and we grab our two gyros with a basket a fries to split. Weird. Mediocre food all together but will get the job done if you really want a gyro.

My daughter and I decided to give Grecian Gyro’s a try. I had the Greek salad with gyro meat and my daughter had chicken nuggets and fries. For a Greek restaurant, the interior décor has nothing to indicate you are at a Greek restaurant. Just very plain and needing an update in my opinion. The tables and chairs reminded me of going to a school cafeteria. The cashier/cook was an older gentleman. He was a tad unpleasant and not very customer service oriented. The cost was affordable but a bit on the higher side. My Greek salad was at best OK. Too much salad dressing and would have expected them to use Greek olives versus the standard pitted black olives. The chicken fingers(were shaped like dinosaurs) much like those you can buy at Sam’s. They were generous with what they gave her and she liked the curly fries. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. While it filled me up and the food was OK, there are much better options if you are in the mood for Greek food. I would have ranked it 3 Stars if the service was more friendly. Down the road I will give them another try. hoping it was just an off day!

This place is a bit of a hole in the wall located in a small strip mall, blink and you might miss it. It is my go to when my favorite spot is closed(John’s Grecian Delights). The wait time on to go orders is a little slow but the food is made to order so I can’t complain too much. The portions are decent but the prices not so much; you will pay about $ 8.50 for a gyro combo(gyro, fries, and drink) and over $ 5 for a small square of Spanakopita. The staff is pleasant but their conversation skills leave much to be desired.

Come here when Johns is closed and never been disappointed. Gyros are good sized with lots of fixins and always taste great. Even their cheeseburger is great. Must be from the flattop grill they use. Always been busy when we go in and their service never suffers. Only downfall is their prices are a tad high but not a reason to stay away. Highly recommended.

Had lunch here again. No wifi but its not the end of the world… or is it? 2 gyro combos with 2 drinks cost us about $ 18 bucks. Not the cheapest but i appreciate the food and special type of greek service… You know they are smiling on the inside: o) Always good food. If your in the area and need greek food in your blood stream give these guys a try. Once you go greek you never go… um… something profound.

It’s been 10 years or more since I’ve eaten there and will never go back. We lived in Hickory Hills and went there 2 – 3 times and the food was always just average but everything else was always dirty, on the verge of filthy. The men’s bathroom was filthy and the kitchen area was dirty, but what really set me off was the man who preparing the food was picking his nose. Never going back. My thoughts are if the kitchen and the bathrooms are dirty the quality of the food preparation is going to reflect how they operate.

I’ve been coming here since the early 90s when my family Moved to Papillion(incidentally, shortly before being stationed here we lived in Izmir Turkey, so I’ve eaten plenty of gyros, though the Turkish call them ‘donors’). I have always loved the style gyros served here. They are very similar to the street food style that was found on the cornerstone Izmir. The meat is grilled crispy after roasting on the spit, the onions and lettuce are always cold and crunchy, the sauce is always a lightly flavored backdrop to the other flavors. The only thing different is that in Izmir, your gyro would be served with the French fries wrapped up inside! The baklava isn’t ever as gooey as I remember, but it has a solid walnut and honey flavor. Everything cooked to order and made exactly as requested. Also, if you’re looking for a big thick burger, you can get that here too! Prices are good and service is always polite and friendly. Especially if you offer a smile and a little patience. I’ve enjoyed eating here since I was a teenager, slipping down the hill from the high school, and I imagine I’ll continue to enjoy eating here long past the time my own kids slip down the same hill. Grecian Gyros is a Papillion tradition.

I put in a to-go order to feed some coworkers for our monthly meeting. I’d never been in before, but the little restaurant was small and had the charm of a local diner that was run with love but no frills(which is a compliment). The gentleman at the counter there was a sweet, older fellow and he was working a 50s style open grill. The whole place smelled amazing! I picked up the food(at an extremely reasonable price), and my office mates devoured every last bit of it. Delicious — huge portions. It’s always nice to find new options for office lunches, so we’re all pretty excited about gyros in the future. Shame we didn’t discover this little place sooner!

Tried this place because i was in the neighborhood. This is the definition of a mom/pop, hole –in –wall place. Food was solid and pricing was good. Not fancy or pretty or exotic. Come and get a gyro and enjoy.

My first mistake was not reading Unilocal before coming here. Now I know. I probably never would have come here if it wasn’t directly behind my brother-in-laws apartment. I am not sure if I’ll be back. If I do it will only be because of the convenient location. Interior is like the inside of a diner or maybe a pool hall with no smoke and no pool tables. Run down. Grungy. And the service is nothing to speak of. The old man running the place(I assume he’s in charge) mumbled something to me when I walked in so I nodded, thinking it was a greeting. It was not. He thought I was someone picking up a to go order. That apparently bugged him that I misunderstood. «Oh, well why’d you answer me then?» he torted(not sure if that’s a word). Then as my eyes darted around the menu, he said something else. It wasn’t a what can I get for you but I thought it was. I said just one moment please. He said what you don’t know if it’s to go or not? Maybe this is his sense of humor but I was not impressed. I felt rushed so I settled on the gyro platter. Before I could even finish my order(maybe add some baklava perhaps?) he said, «$ 9! Grab a bottle from the cooler. Or you can have styrofoam, up to you, most people get a bottle.» Lol, umm ok. I’ll just, uh, get a bottle.(One perk the bottles are 24 oz.) By this time I’m not happy with my decision to patronize this place. How about some warm greetings or a welcoming smile for those who enter your dungy place for your average gyro’s and tiny selection. Huh? Where’s that? There was another guy doing the cooking and I think he was a little nicer. I think. He was foreign, probably Turkish, but don’t want to assume and when I smiled at him, his whole face very deliberately tilted up and down in a firm nod of understanding. But those lips did NOT crack a smile. I must say the prep was quick for my gyro combo(includes a gyro, french fries and drink). But there’s not much to it so not like I’m gonna hand out too many stars for that. As far as the food, as I mentioned, it was average. It’s like Greek fast food only in a diner with no drive thru. The onions were crunchy and fresh, I did like that. But the ‘white’ sauce according to the old man(come on now, let’s use traditional language here) was excessively slathered all over the gyro so it was hard to really separate the flavors of the meat, pita, tzatziki and onions. I was also kind of bummed about the tzatziki. Very little flavor. Not the idill(haha get it?) sauce I was hoping for. I was really hoping I’d walk in and find some of those yummy lemony potatoes! Nope. Menu is pretty limited. I did notice as I waited they have spanakopita. Darn! Baklava. Yumm. Maybe next time. Room for improvement? YES! I suggest a warmer welcome, a little renovation(even if it’s a fresh coat of paint, some soap and water and elbow grease), maybe stick your work desk somewhere else(it’s the last booth in the restaurant where a woman sat and did not even attempt to make eye contact, which was awkward because the one TV is above her head) and maybe some seasoning or lemon potatoes or variety? Overall, if you’re hungry for an average gyro it’s not too bad.

Been going here since I was a kid. The amount of food for the price is parallel to none and is REAL Greek food. Not that chain restaurant Greek crap. The man who owns it is pretty great, too… old and just the friendliest!

Interior is basic. When I walked in I wanted to walk back out because I had a feeling that the food would not be that great. The elderly man kinda needed better people skills… But the other guy working had an accent and I told him I was going to Unilocal it so he said he was going to make the food really good for me. No feta cheese so we asked for some… $ 1 extra. And it came in a block of cheese… Or crumbled… Kinda weird. The gyro… Wasn’t bad but wasn’t delicious. The pita bread was average… But the food just didn’t have anything special in flavor that made me want to go. And the Greek sauce(forgot the name lol) wasn’t homemade! Onions and tomatoes come on the gyro. Probably won’t be back. Owner said they have been around for 21 years … Weird. Never heard of them nor do they have a lot reviews… That should tell you something. I really wanted to like this place and time another good gyro place other than going to the south roads mall.
