Thank goodness for a Hy-Vee nearby so I can avoid grocery shopping at Wal-Mart! I do Hy-Vee’s at home delivery service. It’s fantastic. I can order my groceries online and have them delivered as late as 8 pm on weeknights and they give a short 1-hour window for arrival. They’ve never been late and the delivery personnel are always extremely polite! The prices seem quite high when ordering groceries this way, which is the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars. However, when you order over $ 100, there is no extra delivery fee which is great. My only other concern is that they don’t allow you to tip the delivery people via credit card when we sign for the order. Much like pizza delivery now, you can pay for your order via credit card online and when they deliver it, you can physically write in a tip amount on the receipt at the door. The target market using this service(e.g. busy, working families) often won’t have time or remember to remember to stop at an ATM to get cash simply to tip them. It’d be a huge plus if tipping was incorporated somehow. Thank you, Hy-Vee, for setting the standard on the new way to grocery shop!

We live close by and visit quite often. We always meet with clean courteous surroundings and staff. There is always someone close to help and almost all will ask if they can. We have put it to the test with returns, complaints on specific items, and finding rarities. We have never had an issue and with our frequency of use and pickiness of specific health foods I am still quite pleased. We are happy they’re in the neighborhood and so broad in their spectrum of product including their grill, pizza, breakfast buffet, delicious soups and convenient pharmacy(although we haven’t used it) Starbucks, and SAC Credit Union. One drawback, the parking lot is rough to navigate whether walking or driving. Just take it slow and be on your guard but everything else is a breeze!

I frequent this location often mainly for the sushi & the health/organic section they have to offer which is pricey, but they offer a wide variety & it’s closer to me than Whole Foods. I had my first negative encounter with one of the employees working in the buffet/sushi area today, but called & inquired about it to the manager & she offered to rectify the situation, but I politely declined. Wasn’t enough to make me not come back. I do think the hiring of high school employees is a little discouraging as I feel they lack proper people-skills & aren’t as knowledgeable about current sales etc, but I understand they need to start somewhere in life too. If I don’t like it, I just move to another register with an older check-out person working from now on.

This Hy-Vee deserves 5 stars! I work at CBSHome at the entrance of Shadow Lake, so the convenience of the quick, affordable breakfast and lunch bar is great. The ability to make the quick stop when leaving the office to pick up a few items is also great. What makes this Hy-Vee deserve the full 5 star salute as opposed to the sub par results of other Hy-Vee stores around Omaha is their employees. Without fail, whenever I go into a Hy-Vee(whether it be for lunch or groceries), I am provided EXCELLENT service from all employees. From the cashier to the manager that asks customers if they are finding everything ok… This Hy-Vee is Amazing. The only part of the whole store that needs to see some changes is their«spicy» meals could actually contain some spice. ;) But hey! Beggars can’t be choosers! Whether you have time or are in a rush… stop by this Hy-Vee and experience the 5 star treatment. :)

We purchased their pulled pork and buns for my son’s high school graduation as a second item and they delivered on time, everything was very good. We had several very positive comments asking where we got the BBQ and when we told them it was HyVee and it was about $ 5.00 cheaper than some well known BBQ spots people were surprised. They make very good BBQ at reasonable prices.

They hire a lot of high school staff that are very immature and it’s hard to deal with anybody in that store. The prices are too expensive and when they do have their«sales» or what they call, «Hy-Vee Hot Deals» it’s always in their store brand which I’ve found doesn’t taste/work as good as the regular brand. I would go somewhere else unless you absolutely need to stop here.

I’ve used the Hyvee Pharmacy at shadow lake twice during my visit to Nebraska. They’ve been quick(10 min or less) to fill my prescriptions each time.

Hy-Vee is probably my favorite grocery chain in the Omaha metropolitan area. Their stores are always brightly lit, extremely clean, and their employees are always very friendly. This location is larger than most. It is also the only Hy-Vee in Sarpy County, but there is a rumor that Hy-Vee has optioned land at 180th& Highway 370. They have a great selection of most everything you could want. If you’re looking for some odd gourmet items then you might need to find a specialty grocery store, but outside of that Hy-Vee will have what you want. In addition to the standard grocery area they also have specialty areas like their meat counter, bakery, deli, specialty cheeses, florist, and natural/organic section. This location also has a SAC Federal Credit Union branch inside. There is also a food area where you can get Chinese, pizza, deli, or salad items to go or dine inside. They offer a buffet where you can get any items, all you can eat, from any of those areas for a flat price of $ 12(a little steep, but there’s a decent variety). I don’t like that they close their wine and liquor section so early. Sure, you can grab an employee and they’ll open it up for you to grab what you need, but that’s just annoying to have to do and awkward as some employee is watching and waiting for you to grab what you need so they can lock it back up. Most other grocery stores have their wine and liquor fully incorporated into the rest of their grocery store so it can be easily accessed the entire time the grocery store is open. Hy-Vee’s segregation of the their alcohol means they need a dedicated employee working that area and when business slows down they don’t want that labor expense, so they close it up. I suppose it does make it convenient for people buying just alcohol during the hours that section is open, but for anyone buying it after those hours or anyone also buying groceries it’s a pain in the butt.

Cody and Robin at Shadow Lake Hy-Vee Catering were fantastic on our wedding day and during all the planning leading up to it. They talked us through a ton of options, gave us some opinions based on working with several couples, let us try what we wanted and even gave us some suggestions for food. We actually ended up going with one of their recommendations, an Italian buffet. We went to Italy for our honeymoon and who doesn’t like pasta? Easy for all including kids. They were wonderful. Helpful, friendly and actually seemed to know who I was every time I called them. Top notch service and being a grocery store, they can give you a great deal on food prices. We only paid $ 10/plate and the food was delicious. They boxed up the extra and cut the cakes we got at the bakery as well.

This review is for the Beer selection at the Shadow Lake Hy-Vee Wine & Spirits only. I thought maybe this store would try to rival their Stony Brooks counter part, but they fail to meet several of their standards. First though, it does have an above average Craft beer cooler section. But even though it does have a cooled build it your own six pack section, it is below Hy-Vee standards. Also, I have never run into anyone there who could hold there own talking beer. This place does have the possibility for a lot of room for improvement. I cross my fingers.

I’m giving this place one star because I don’t have the option of giving it zero stars. I’ve come home with rotten, spoiled food more often than I can count. I’ve had to wait and buy my dairy from another store because all of their cheese was warm to the touch… and who knows how long it was like that. This past fall I noticed some turkey kielbasa with a 4th of July ad on the front, and when I picked it up I saw that it had expired months before. I took the top package with me and showed it to the cashier when I checked out. She said, «Ok,» and tossed it under her register. She didn’t call a manager to have the rest pulled off the shelf. Tonight I picked up some Bob Evans mac & cheese for dinner, and when I got home I discovered that it was moldy and had expired on 5⁄11. This is the only HyVee I’ve been to that wasn’t awesome. As far as this one goes, though: eat at your own peril!

Restaurant: This is a great place to get a healthy, fast meal for under $ 10. You can get: Italian food(pizza & pasta), Chinese food, soups(3 selections daily), salad bar, or anything from the store deli counter. Of course there’s a full fountain drink area. The seating area is large, nicely decorated, and relatively clean. How it’s different from other Hy-Vee buffets: There is a food preparation area behind the salad bar, so everything is kept fresh and fully stocked. Staff is friendly, but compared to most Hy-Vee restaurants, they seem oddly fixated on making sure everybody pays. The fruit-and-desert section of the salad bar is above average. Pricing can be a bit confusing, with all of the available permutations. Drinks are not usually included in the price(note that this policy varies between different Hy-Vee stores). I wish they had more kinds of bread available to eat with the salads and soups. At least they usually have some dry, plain rolls or biscuits available(which is better than most of the Hy-Vee buffets). Florist: The florist usually leaves at 6; after that, other employees will help as best as they can. This floral department tends to carry fresher, prettier flowers than many grocery stores. They seem very good at understanding and meeting special needs, such as arrangements to fit odd-sized spaces. Groceries: This is a very large, modern grocery store, with all the features you’d expect, including a full-service florist, a gas station, a pharmacy, an in-store bank, and more. Selection and prices are very good, though not necessarily better than competitors such as Bakers. As with most Omaha grocery stores, there is surprisingly little local or organic produce.

I am a real fan of Hy-Vee because they are the most customer-friendly store I think I’ve ever shopped. They have a HUGE selection and while the prices are average and comparible to any other grocery in the area, they go out of their way to make sure you have your needs met. This location is open 24-hour and they have one of the best deli/snack bars I’ve ever seen — grocery store or otherwise. In fact, my buddies and I have gone here for breakfast because they have such fresh food.
