We signed up to have a section of gutter replaced and a few downspouts replaced. We had an older style slimline downspouts, which had hard corners and thus got clogged easily with all the acorns and pine needles and oak leaves and pinecones. We talked to a few different places, and this guy was the cheapest and seemed to be the most honest about what we really needed. He helped us find ways to cut costs by telling us what areas really needed replacing, and which could possibly stay, and which could work for a couple years with some patching on tiny cracked areas because it’s hard to kick down so much money at once. Our house is long, and has an awful lot of gutter. He suggested we replace all the downspouts both for clog avoidance and for better output because while the slimline ones may look good, they are not as functional as they need to be. It’s rained a few times since we got them replaced, and so far so good. We haven’t had any clogs with the new ones, the acorns just wash through the larger downspouts with the curves instead of sharp corners.
