Will satisfy your craving for Sushi. It is not great by any standards, but it hets the job done. The staff is great tho, and the service is fast. I wouldn’t recommend making changes to menu items or making substitutions, they regularly fail with that.

Waited 2 hours still no food. Left and ate at home. My first time here. The wait staff didn’t take out concerns well. Doubt I will try it again. Didn’t even get to try the food. Appetizers were good.

One of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Chico! Friendly service, and everything is great when we eat here. No complaints. Don’t forget to order their Japanese tacos ! They’ve even expanded, more room! Nice place to take your kids too!

I absolutely love the great food and service at Ikkyu! I’ve been twice; and hope to get through the menu by spring! Great sushi, tempura, teriyaki, sake, and much more! I highly recommend this place; it also has really great prices! :)

Such a fantastic place. I get food to go from here at least once a week, no matter home busy they are, everyone is so nice. The food is fantastic, especially for a small town. Would recommend 100%. Super friendly and efficient staff.

This is for sure my #1 favorite restaurant in Paradise. The service is amazing, the food is flawless and delicious, and you just can’t get better sushi anywhere else in Paradise.

This place is amazing!!! If you’re reading a bad review it’s because someone went there on a crazy busy day or one of the chefs were out sick… Food is so flavorful and the service is just wonderful! Just making this review is making my mouth water… Used to think big tuna was good, but after coming here nothing can compare! I love Ikkyu!!! Can’t wait to enjoy another challenge noodle and suicide boat :)

I love this place! I try to go to it every time I visit Paradise. It is delicious. It can be a little bit pricey but it isn’t bad for sushi of great quality!

First time my husband and I ate there for lunch and we were not impressed with the food at all. The Calamari had no flavor what so ever and the tempura tasted like it had been deep fried in oil that was old, the teriyaki salmon and chicken were drowned in so much teriyaki sauce to the point that you could not taste the fish or chicken and the soup was also bland and had no tofu in it. The steamed rice was alright. The service was just ok, server never asked if everything was alright or if we wanted a refill on our drinks. We will not go there again. Best to go to Chico for great Sushi…

Great food and great service. We have been here many many times and received great service each time and have never had to wait for a table. The food is really good as well and we have tried many different items from the menu. My only negative would be that it’s a bit pricey, but no more so than any of the sushi places in Chico. But, less crowded!

This is one of the best places to eat in Paradise. Great owners that care a bunch about their place, customers, food and menu. The food is excellent and the prices are affordable. Very friendly staff and good service. The sushi is good and so are their soups and Katzu Dans. It is great to see some reviews where people had to wait to be seated and to get their food. In this place it only means 2 things. One they are busy because their food is good and it is packed. Two it takes a little time to make good fresh food. Highly recommended

At first Ikkyu was just that. Icky. We stayed away for a year till someone said it got good so we came back and fell in love with the food. The initial service and greeting is amazing. So is the sushi. It’s why we come back! Then the long wait begins. Generally expect a 15 – 20 minute wait(minimum) to get a food order in. Then the wait for your food begins!!! And the reflection on why you don’t come here once a week and only once every month or two… For some reason there is rarely more than one server for 13 – 14 tables. Don’t expect great intimate service or attention from the server. It doesn’t exist here. The server is too busy to give the great service they want to!!! Great Sushi though! But is it worth the wait? I don’t think so. We would come once a week if the service isn’t so poor. But can you really expect great service on the«Ridge»? I doubt it. It is a hard wait with small children. We order rice to get them through the wait. Did I mention the wait? So far I have been here 35 minutes. All I have is a Kirin Ichiban And a bowl of rice. At 45 minutes… I have nursed the Kirin Ichiban so hard Mother Teresa would be proud!!! Definition of Torture: waiting 55 minutes. Being out of beer. The server not even caring and watching other people eat sushi… Almost on the hour. Food arrives… Most of it… Facepalm. Our server only talked to us once. ONCE. If you read a lot of reviews on Unilocal about Ikkyu you will realize there is one server you don’t want. We got her. Didn’t get all the food we ordered. Had to get up and pay up front. The only reason I will give this place one more try was because of the sincere and profuse apology given by a waitress who genuinely cared that we had a bad experience… Again. If you live in the ridge weigh the option of driving to Chico for Sushi. You could drive to Chico, eat sushi and drive home in the time it would take you to get your food at Ikkyu… Just saying.

We Love this place! We always get the same thing and should try something different but we never do. :). We love the Ramen with hot challenge noodles which come in 4 levels of hotness… so good. I love the Wakoba roll because it is vegetarian and I order it with soy paper instead of seaweed. The bomb! The owner knows me by name and is always so nice. I see a lot of people complaining about wait times but I have never experienced that but have only eaten in a few times… we usually do take out.

Decent selection of tasty items at a reasonable price although i was not impressed overall on our experience. Has the potential for an evening of quality dinning but its just not there. We stopped in for dinner on a busy Friday night. We were seated right away but that was the fastest thing that happened that night. Our waitress litterally and completely forgot about us when a table of customers she knew were seated right next to us. We watched her take their orders, serve them drinks, appetizers, and entrée’s before anyone took our order. Another waitress realized what was going on, appologized profusely to us for our situation, and promptly took our orders and brought us our drinks. Food finally came. Food was good although i certainly would not call it high end. We ordered the veggie bento box and Lassen Roll(Spicy Hot Paradise Roll). Temura veggies were the highlight, light and crispy sweet potato, egg plant, and acorn squash with a fishy dipping broth. The Lassen Roll was good but all the«spicy hot» obviously simply came from a bottle of sriracha. Bottled oystersauce seemed to be drizzled on everything for«flavor». The sesame vinaigrette dressing was good but tasted store bought. Rice portion was small for 2 people. Our new waitress forgot about us, we finally ordered desert, temura bannana with peanutbutter. It eventually came and was good although could have done without the drizzel of chocolate over everlything which was a suprise and just added another flavor profile to the dish. A sprinkle of powdered sugar would have gone over nicely instead. We watched numerous customers come, eat, and leave durring our time there. We were completely abandoned by our servers. Atmosphere was nice, food was ok, family friendly, casual, and options for people with food restrictions. I would give it one more try to redeam my first experience, if i can bring myself to do so.

I’ve heard so many great things about this place! Visited for the first time last night and had a less-than-exciting experience. My friends and I arrived at 6:30pm, on a Friday night, it was packed! We chose to stay and wait for a table(or a booth, we told the waitress we didn’t mind either) it was supposed to be a 45 minute wait. While waiting, a man came in to order ONE roll to-go, and was told it would be a 2 hour wait. We should have left then, but we still chose to stay. We ended up waiting about an hour, and noticed that a table and a booth were open, and asked the waitress how much longer. It still took another 15 minutes to be seated, after standing awkwardly at the cashier to show we were getting anxious. I ended up running into a couple friends of mine that had a reservation at 6pm, and they didn’t get their food until 7:45pm.(This was about the time my friends and I were seated) Two gentleman came in right after we were seated and got a table RIGHTAWAY. They also got their drinks and food before we were even asked what kind of drinks we wanted. Our order was taken a little after 8pm, and our food arrived at 8:45pm. By this time I think the staff were drained and stopped caring about their service, since they close at 9pm. We were only asked once how we were doing and if we needed refills, and the waitress never really apologized, but rather made an excuse for the wait by saying the kitchen staff was backed up. We were never offered a discount for the wait. The food was really good. This is a great place to try sushi without the worry of eating anything raw, because they have cooked sushi options. I will just wait until they are not as busy in order to come back, because they obviously couldn’t handle having a full house, despite how long they have been in business.

Surprised to realize I hadn’t already written a review for this place. I’ve been here a handful of times; not only because it’s the only sushi in Paradise, but because it’s good. I’ve had sushi all over the state and this is above average. The waitress are always VERY friendly, and I’ve never had to wait for a seat. To-go service is great as well. The menu has many items for the non sushi eater, although I haven’t tried them. The«specialty» rolls get expensive quickly, and many don’t contain any of the expensive ingredients(actual raw fish/roe); minus half star for that. I’m a basic spicy tuna girl anyway. $ 1 for your own little pot of piping green tea is great. I was excited to try the new spicy tuna bites(on crispy rice) buy was pretty disappointed. The taste was there, but the deep fried rice was chewy and dense. I did not enjoy it. I should have known better, nothing deep fried from a fresh sushi place. I’d still recommend this place.
