This place is always a family favorite spot to go. If you’re craving for some authentic Mexican food with a great atmosphere then this is the place for you. Our favorite dishes here are their chimichangitas, their tacos, and their shrimp tostadas as well as shrimp cocktails. They have mariachi bands that play songs for you on the weekends and it sure adds that special touch. If you’re in the area and craving for delicious Mexican food check this place out!

Ok. Been going here since 1984. Never disappoints for us. We love the carne Asada and chilled relleno. Best carrots and chips around while you wait. The albondigas soup is phenomenal. When you need the true go to place that reminds you of old days, we come here. Not every dish rocks it, but enough do that keeps us coming back for 30 years plus.

So I came here yesterday with my significant other because he came here before and I was in the mood for Mexican food. Well we were seated promptly and our waitress was very attentive, food was good too I ordered a #15 that had an enchilada, beef taco, and shredded beef tostada. Besides the massive amounts of cheese I was very happy. I also ordered a side of rice and beans because I need them when having Mexican food. I was satisfied for the most part UNTIL my S/O and I decided to order the deep fried ice cream, this is why I’m only giving them three stars, it was unbelievably terrible. The deep fry was stale and hard to chew and just texturally not appetizing. It basically ruined everything to be completely honest. So food is good just don’t order the deep fried ice cream.

This place was not what I expected I aint never ever eeeeeva coming back to this place… The service was slow; we ordered a queso fundido the waitress forgets the tortillas then took forever and a day to come back. By the time our waitress came back a different waitress had brought us tortillas and the queso fundido got cold… shame Then We ordered some Cadillac Margaritas, I’m for heavy drinks and all but only if they are tasty, you know… what we got were two glass full of what tasted like cheap tequila with a splice of Margarita mix. Then I ask for a Salsa Verde Wet Burrito, what I got was a Pink Salsa wet burrito.. I WASMF Flabbergasted; I look at the burrito, then I look at the waitress, look at the burrito then look at the waitress. She asked what was wrong. I told her that I had ordered a green salsa burrito not Pink. The waitress laughed like if what I had just said was a joke and walked away laughing. Since she wasn’t coming back I tasted the food… the pink sauce was not good at ALL. I had to scrape it off the burrito(I was starving). After we finished dinner, I realized maybe the waitress was onto something… this WAS a joke… a joke on US, we had to pay for this shotty ass«Mexican» food. So disappointed…

As I said in my previous review, this has always been one of my go to’s for Mexican restaurants and been eating here since I was 18(I’m 50 now). With that being said, we’ve been here a couple time in the last couple months. The first time, it took the waiter forever to take our drink orders, when we ordered our drinks, he wanted our food orders at the same time. Not once did he come back by to see if we needed anything. Alas, he did not get a tip and I mentioned the poor service to the cashier. The second time was just last weekend, it wasn’t busy. Again, we were seated in the area of the waiter I mentioned above. We got our drinks in a timely manner. They are usually pretty quick getting your meal to you, it took forever this time. When we received our dishes, the food wasn’t hot. He again never checked on us and it almost took an act of God to get the check, as we waited and waited, no one came by to clear our dishes and again throughout the meal he never checked to see if we needed anything. I complained again to the cashier about the service and tepid food. I mentioned to her that maybe he needed to be a bus boy, as he clearly wasn’t interested in being a good waiter. Thing is, even when they give you bad service and tepid food, they expect a tip. Again, I didn’t leave a tip. I’m sure Mr. Gamino is rolling around in his grave with how the service has gone down hill. I know if he were still around, he wouldn’t stand for this. We will return but, I will ask to be seated at the other side of the restaurant and not in his area if I see him working.

So what do you do when your least favorite restaurant happens to be your significant others favorite restaurant? You compromise. And that’s exactly what I had to do when my boyfriend wanted to come grab dinner here this past Friday night. We arrived at around 6:30 pm and we were seated promptly. We placed our beverage orders and skimmed through the menu. I knew better this time so I made sure to steer clear from the seafood section of the menu. I ordered a ginormous wet burrito and I chose the red sauce since I’m not a fan of green sauce wet burritos. Salvador wanted a carne asada quesadilla so that’s what he got. The chips were once again stale. We were hungry since we both had light lunches so we finished the first batch of salsa and chips. My initial thought was that maybe that was how the chips tasted at this restaurant, but when our second batch of chips was served to us by our accommodating waitress I realized this was not the case. The second batch of chips was fresh and was actually good. My guess is that instead of throwing old chips out they serve them to customers anyway for reasons only known by them. Disgusting. My burrito was decent. I could’ve done without the exaggerated amount of sour cream that was inside but I wasn’t expecting much from my meal anyway. I ate about half of it and asked our waitress for a takeout box. Salvador wasn’t satisfied with his quesadilla and I could tell. We payed and left. Once we were out the door I remembered that I left my to go box on our table. My boyfriend offered to go back to get it but I didn’t want him to. That burrito wasn’t worth saving. Once again this place has disappointed me. I don’t think we’ll be returning back now that Salvador has had his first bad food related experience here.

Attended my wife’s annual Christmas celebration here for the 2nd year in a row. A nice family restaurant with your usual SoCal Mexican fare. WONDERFUL house margaritas to start the evening off; Feliz Navidad! Chips and salsa all day; the salsa needs a little more spice to it. I had the carnitas(my favorite dish at any Mexican restaurant). They finish it off on the flat top to get a nice crispy char on their carnitas. Those were my favorite pieces. Served with beans, rice and corn tortillas. A winner. Wife had the cheese enchilada and tamale. I only tried the tamale; your standard restaurant tamale. Living in LA you get kinda spoiled with all the homemade tamales made during the Xmas season. You cannot beat those. A nice restaurant and I enjoy coming every Xmas season. Will be back again.

Went here with my boyfriend and the customer service was great! The food took awhile, but was worth the wait . Big portions as well. –1 star for the disgusting bathroom that smelled bad. So much staff in that restaurant someone could’ve cleaned it.

I stay loyal to this place despite the intimidators been here countless times, driving several miles at least 20miles for this place. Yesterday On Sunday the service was terrible. The chips were old and my meal took over 25min and I still did not eat. I got up and left, but trying to do the right thing and pay for my soup and drinks the cashier charged me $ 8. As I thought about the service I said the soup and drink should be free, but she declined and gave me THECUSTOMER the hardest time and it was there fault? I asked for the manager and of course he is no where to be found. I want My money back!!! Since I’m on a roll: why every time I’m in this place a kid comes to my table wanting me to buy candy??? Feels like someone in front of a store begging for money totally unacceptable. I just want to enjoy my meal. I asked for the manager to call me back still no response.

We love this place! Especially love the bartender Raul who is super friendly and is always on his game! He makes the best margaritas and has the best customer service. The customers come back because of him and he remembers everyone he serves. We will wait a long time just to be served by him. The food is delicious, but the salsa has a little too much onion for my taste. But overall I would recommend this place anytime.

The 3 meals we ordered were all on par with what I expected. The food was flavorful and plentiful. The mariachis were an added benefit. The ice tea kinda sucked, tasted wrong.

Since my last review in 2009, I’ve been back for lunch or dinner only a few times and only reluctantly because my friend insisted that we go here for Mexican food. There wasn’t a big crowd in the dining room at the time so we were seated right away. Our waiter stopped by for our drink orders and answered a few questions. The fresh chips and salsa were brought out soon after and they are still the same quality and I ate most of it myself. This last time I ordered the vegetable burrito wet with red sauce. Surprisingly it was one of the best tasting selections I ordered from here as there was a nice balance of all of the ingredients combined… i.e.: the key word is «balanced», not drowning in melted cheese is a good thing IMO. My friend’s shrimp salad wasn’t the nicest presentation but what can you do with shrimp on large lettuce leaves… but the majority of the shrimp were sloppily de-veined so it didn’t look very appetizing with black veins all over the shrimp. Our waiter was fine but only checked up on us once for refills before getting the check, so could have been more attentive. Restroom is still the same and could use a remodel like last year… Overall a 2.5.

I guess you can say I am currently stuck in a bit of a rut when it comes to quality food joints. This Casa Gamino location is one I have been visiting off and on for many years but the quality of both the food and service has drastically gone downhill and was almost non-existent during my most recent visit. While helping my mom move and looking for a place to eat, it was my idea to come here for a tasty bite to eat. For a Friday night at 6:00 the we had no trouble finding seating and were quickly given menus to look over. It took around 5 minutes or so for our waiter for the night to come to the table to take the drink orders and drop off the chips and salsa which was a bit slow but gave us more than enough time to look over the menu(which seems to have changed since my last visit). My mom wanted chicken enchiladas which were nowhere to be found on the menu but when asked was told they had them and she put in her order. I quickly followed with a wet chicken, rice and bean burrito with red sauce as well as a half an half order of rice and beans on the side. The food was very slow to come out of the kitchen and was brought out by a different gentleman than our server. In all it probably took close to 15 – 20 for the food to come out which allowed me time to watch the Dodgers choke away a 6 – 1 lead in the Playoffs… ugh. The chicken enchiladas looked very bland in their appearance and presentation as based off my moms review of the food it was just as bland to the taste. She quickly poured the salsa from the chips over the rice and enchiladas in hopes of salvaging the dish but nothing seemed to help. The burrito I received was far smaller than most places and definitely smaller than I remember from previous visits. I was also dismayed when I cut into the burrito to see it was simply a tortilla filled with chicken, no rice or beans or cheese in sight other than the red sauce on top(which barely covered the top). I took a couple bites hoping to find the missing ingredients within but to no avail. Our server did not check on the service, never offered refills until nearly 20 – 30 minutes into the meal after we were basically done. Casa Gamino used to have a manager go table to table to check on your service but none of that happened on this day. To make matters worse about halfway through the burrito I bit into a piece of chicken that was very bitter and discolored. I took a bite from the opposite side and the same thing, the chicken appeared to have gone bad. The prices have gone up, the portions were smaller, the service was non-existent and the food was flavorless and bland throughout. The bad chicken was the icing on the proverbial cake that has ruined the place for me going forward. All the good memories I had of Casa Gamino are now gone and I more than likely will never return.
