I would definitely not consider myself to be a sneaker head per se but I do really like Converse and I have a bunch of pairs. A bunch may not be totally accurate. I have maybe 10 pair which is hardly an obsession in the way many of my friends and clients are addicted. I make it a habit to check their site every month or so to see what’s new and what I might like. Recently I saw a pair that I fell in love with. They were an embossed floral pattern which looked a lot like my fav cowboy boots so I decided to order them. The problem was that they seemed to be sold out as soon as the link was activated. I called and emailed their customer service department wishing to order a pair but again, no luck. I also called their local store in The Garden State Plaza who said they hadn’t received that particular style and most likely would not be in the future. Fast forward to last Wednesday when I stopped by the store to do a little browsing. I mentioned to Jessica who I believe is a manager there that I was looking for this particular style. She thought about it for a minute and proceeded to call their store in San Francisco. A few minutes later I was on the phone with them ordering my sneakers. The sale did absolutely nothing to help Jessica or their GSP location since I made the purchase over the phone with their SF store directly. The only thing Jessica stood to gain was an overly satisfied customer who will never buy their sneakers from anywhere else. And let’s face it, that’s priceless. Kudos to Jessica and Converse at GSP. Much thanks!

I’ve been here four times. The store looks great and is a great place to shop for shoes. Every purchase I’ve made has been great, but please watch out when trying to return worn merchandise. I had a horrible experience trying to exchange a pair of sneakers that I wore for two weeks. Now I would normally not try to return a pair of worn shoes, but the receipt said that I could return my shoes for any reason within the first 30 days, which apparently the store’s management does not agree with. They seemed shocked by the condition of the shoes and said it would be a one time exception, even though it’s clearly written in their Return Policy that they will accept any returns within the first 30 days. Only returns that are older than 30 days need to be in pristine condition… I’m still awaiting a clarificaiton from their corporate headquarters, so I will update the review if they follow through. Update: Corporate confirmed my interpretation of the Receipt Return Policy and offered an exchange. Having spoken with the store’s management, it appears that the store has not received the right training and has been handling returns differently.
