I must have taken my classes w/the same instructor Cristina L. did, I’ve found the instructor I’ve taken my classes with to be extremely rude and condescending with a cold demeanor. This instructor is also awful at giving individual attention despite the fact that the classes are small. I’m hoping that its the same instructor and the gym doesn’t have a bunch of rude teachers. I workout on a consistent basis and I’m not a complete spazz but this teacher makes me feel just awful. I am new to reformer classes but I booked my class online and didn’t know that a demo class was recommended until I was already at the office/studio(the outside to me looks like a doctor’s office so I’m unsure what to call it). I spoke with the instructor that day and she said that while the demo class was recommended but I should be fine. That was a different teacher than the classes I’ve taken since. I find the reformer more difficult than pilates mat classes since you can’t really watch what someone is doing but rather you have to go completely on audio instructions. I’m usually pretty critical of myself, but I don’t think I should be expected to retain how to do each posture after having only taken one class. During class the teacher yelled saying that she had remembered seeing me in class and couldn’t understand why I couldn’t retain the basics. I had purchased a deal on LivingSocial as well and would never even entertain the idea of buying another package from this studio. Just to compare, I took a pilates reformer class at a studio in NYC and the instructor couldn’t have been nicer, offering more individual attention and yoga-esque instructions. I’m interested to try this chain’s studio in Englewood to compare. I’m just hoping they don’t share instructors.

Évaluation du lieu : 3 LONG ISLAND CITY, NY
I travel a lot and was in town for Thanksgiving for about 5 days. I saw that Living Social was offering a deal w/IMX Pilates for 5 reformer classes for only $ 39 — so I jumped on it. I figured I could do one class a day. I’ve done Pilates Reformers before and it was a great workout. I was hoping this workout would be great too. When I was in the airport, I called IMX to book an appt but they told me about a free 1 hr demo class for ANYBODY, and encouraged me to attend(so that I learn the techniques and can maximize my 5 classes). Since I had only taken a reformers class a couple times before, I figured I could use the extra help. I was all for it, and I brought my mother with me to the demo class. We went together to the class, and our instructor was straight up rude. She had a very cold demeanor, and was incredibly condescending to my mom. My mom did a pose the wrong way, and the instructor practically yelled«LISTENTOME, YOUAREDOINGITWRONG!!!» It was embarrassing for my mother, and it hurt my feelings to see my mother being treated w/such disrespect. My mother isn’t as physically fit as I am(hell, after 4 kids I wouldn’t be so fit either). So it was a big disappointment that our instructor couldn’t cater to her specific needs. Not everybody is going to be able to work at the same pace. Overall the instructor was just impatient. For a demo class, you’d think she would exhibit a lot more patience and would try to sell the classes to the participants. I had already bought classes so I didn’t need convincing, but other people sure could have benefitted from some persuasion. But nope. She was terrible. There were about 5 people in the class total, but the instructor had trouble giving individualized instruction. She embarrassed those who did poses wrong(this one girl in front of me needed a little more help, and the instructor yelled at her for not doing it correctly). The workout itself was fine. It wasn’t so challenging, but that is to be expected in an intro class. The intro class is just as long as a regular class, but it goes through way many more workouts than a regular class. That’s bc the purpose is to teach you all the workouts in a short time frame. It isn’t as intense though. There is a lot less resistance being used in an intro class. Despite that, I felt burning in my abs and legs and arms. I woke up the next morning feeling a little sore. Not too sore, but my arms were definitely aching a bit. That’s a good sign. Overall I got a refund from Living Social because customer service is important to me. I didn’t want to go through 5 classes with horrible instructors. I know it was only $ 35, but I’m not going to throw money at a business that mistreats it’s customers. I’d rather bring my business elsewhere. Good luck.
