Yes, I was lucky enough to be invited to Marcel Campion’s soirée on 18-Decembre at L’Aventure. This place is posh. In a vintage art deco kind of way. Located a few steps away from L’Arc de Triomphe on avenue Victor Hugo, L’Aventure is a nice upscale restaurant with a large club downstairs. After I found my way to the restaurant, I descended the staircase into what I can only describe as a 1920’s Paris/Chicago style supper club. I felt like I just walked into the most festive party of 1929. There were oysters on the half-shell everywhere. Tasty finger foods on large silver platters. The best Pommery champagne was flowing all night. Chris Campion, Tchavolo Schmitt and Yorgui Loeffler(from Alsace) were playing Manouche-style swing on their fancy acoustic jazz guitars. What a night. The dresses, the music, the smiles on everyone’s faces. Wow. I am lucky to have had the opportunity to party with so many Manouche and gadjo musicians. L’Aventure staff never missed a beat. Once the level of my glass of Pommery dipped, they were right there to fill it back up again. Food was delicious. Dessert was popular as well. Fresh and hot Sliced apple tarts that made me close my eyes. I changed my plane reservation from 12-December to 24-December so that I could attend the soirée. Boy was that the right decision. Merci beaucoup to Monsieur Campion for inviting me to what became my most memorable night in France. Merci beaucoup to all the musicians for the«douce ambiance» Merci beaucoup to all the staff at L’Aventure for delicious food, drinks all night, and the best service in all of Paris. Michto! A+++
