I’m done with this place. Waits of over 45 minutes every single day, lines out the door, RUDE employees who don’t speak English, and gross overcharges. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. The restaurant is also filthy and they never answer their phone to take phone orders. Just ate there 2 minutes ago and I will never be back. Never. Take a look at my photo: 2 sides of chicken, 2 sides of steak, 1 small soda and an order of chips with queso cost me $ 37.52. That wasn’t a typo, let that sink in: $ 37.52. WHAT?!? Highway robbery. If they’d just add a burrito bowl to the menu it would be so much easier for everyone involved. I should’ve walked away and left the food on the counter. This is what happens when a restaurant is poorly managed and its employees don’t have a basic understanding of the English language. Sorry but it’s the truth. EPICFAIL. Café Rio, I hate you!

We were looking for a nice meal after hitting the slopes in the morning. Café Rio looked(from the outside) like a good option. Inside we got horrible service with ok food. Its like Chipotle but lacks the charm. It’s a fast food in disguise and the food sitting in large pots doesn’t seem very hygienic. I won’t go back!

To be fair, we weren’t exactly in the mood for Mexican but this was close and it was open. Meats were ok. Beans were ok. Rice was crunchy as if it weren’t cooked thoroughly. We ended up throwing most of it away. Hate to waste food but we were not going to eat it

Food has always been great, but the service definitely seems to have gone downhill of late. My three most recent trips went as follows… Trip #1…while eating by myself, I get up to refill my drink. That 30 second window is all it takes for the overzealous table cleaner to snatch up my tray and begin to make off with my half eaten burrito. Fortunately I was quick enough to chase her down– obviously an apology would be too much to ask for, so an abrupt«you get up, so I think you go!» would have to suffice. While I appreciate your enthusiasm for your job, stealing someone’s sweet pork burrito is most definitely a death wish. Trip #2…passing through town late and hungry, I stop in for a snack. It’s a Thursday, so they are open till 11:00. I enter at 10:25. All the food appears to have been packaged up and I’m met with glares. The person who appears to be in charge mumbles something about closing up since they hadn’t had any customers for awhile. With exasperated looks, they quickly through my order together without offering any of the customary sides, then throw a to-go bag my way. Given that I’m starving and have nearly an hour drive to get home, I don’t really want to wait, so I plop down at the table closest to the door and begin to eat. I’m then told rather forcefully that I need to leave. It’s still only 10:30 at this point. I respond that no, your posted business hours are till 11, so you can either leave me alone so that I can eat fast and be out in 10 minutes, or I WILL be a dick and sit here until 11. She rolls her eyes and walks away. Yeah, business hours exist for a reason. Don’t do that. I see from other reviews that this type of encounter doesn’t seem to be unique, so you’re likely to get less than stellar service if you go late. Trip #3…this time I almost get through the line okay, but then have to wait for a good minute or two in front of the register as the cashier has her back turned and is engaged in an animated conversation with a coworker. Ultimately she took care of me and was apologetic, but it seems like not the best business model to have the money collector not paying attention for minutes at a time to the people coming through the line. I took an extended boycott from this location in between #2 and #3 and suppose I should continue, but this is the closest location to me and I’m such a sucker for a good sweet pork burrito. Plus I’m kind of intrigued to see what could possibly happen next!

This was my first time at a Café Rio because they aren’t in CT! We walked in at 6:30 where there was a long line to get food. Luckily we were determined to stand on that line to get our food and try it out. I got the pork barbacoa burrito made enchilada style. It is massive but so delicious. The pork was a little sweet so I may want to go with the chicken next time. However, the cheese was melted on top and so delicious. The pork was cooked really well and delicious as well just maybe a little too sweet. The tres leches cake was also so delicious. My friend’s grandmother makes delicious tres leches cake and she said it was just as good as what her grandmother makes. They moved the line along pretty quickly. They were all working as fast as they could to get us through the line which I appreciated and there was a lot of room for seating which was good. It was a little cramped but there was no one around us so we had space to eat. All in all it was a good experience. I wouldn’t go here all the time and I would definitely think of ordering online next time to skip the line.

I would give it no stars. It’s 9:25pm 7÷24÷15. Sign on door shows open till 11:00pm. They kicked us out and locked the doors on my hungry kids. Short girl with brown shirt said we ran out of food and people. Yet let two women in behind us as we walked away. We are from Southern California on vacation. No the service we expected here. Could have said sorry for inconvenience or something but she was so rude she wanted us out. Not trying this place again.

Do not order online for this location. I ordered online for my parents and I, and was given a pickup time of about 15 minutes after I place the order. Wonderful. I got there a little after the given time, maybe 5 minutes late. And they hadn’t even started on it. There was another guy waiting for his pickup as well that he had placed online, also hadn’t been started. After he had been waiting, they came out and told him they were out of one of his items. He held it together and got something else, but I could see steam coming from his ears. After about another 10 or so minutes, I inquired as it if we were getting close on my order. I am usually pretty patient, but not when I could have just gone through the assembly line twice by then to place my order. The girl working the register was sincere and apologetic, hence, the two stars, but it was not a great experience with the online ordering and watching people who arrived after me order there and be on their way long before I was out the door. No bueno.

Terrible service. My burrito was not even wrapped and when I went to ask for an extra tortilla(to wrap it myself), the manager snatched it from my hand and angrily remade it with much less than I had asked for. Definitely not going again.

I had a burrito. It was huge. I ate about a third. Seriously, if you can finish one if these, you’re just being a pig. Special note… the soda machine spits out crushed ice. I think that’s rare.

My family has been eating here for about 5 years now. We are fans. It’s a good value for the money and the food taste good and fresh. Yes there is one employee there who annoys my wife but that doesn’t deter us from going. I have not witnessed any health code issues as listed below but I would imagine every restaurant has an employee who breaks those codes whether we like or know it. No, it’s not fine dining but it’s not supposed to be. I recommend Café Rio to all of our friends who visit, especially those from the east coast who have never tried it and think that Chipotle Grill is the best fast food Mexican. Chipotle is good, but Café Rio is better.

The food is good and service is too unless you have Alex help you. He is not there to take care of your needs and is a real jerk! I went there tonight and tried to get a Pork Burrito with a salad. Alex always gives me a hard time and makes me feel like I’m begging. My wife and I eat there enough that we had a punch card for a free meal. He tried to charge me $ 3 more for what i don’t know and was very inflexible. I wound up refusing the meal and they threw it away rather than trying to do the right thing. My wife likes to eat there and that is the only reason I go. from now on when Alex treats me this way I will refuse it and let them throw the meal away. This is not the first time Alex has been nasty. I have contacted Café rio in the past regarding This poor employee and they don’t seem to care. I guess their motto is «Why do Good when you can do just good enough?».

Another horrible visit to café rio. I guess it’s time to stop branching outside of St George’s location. Not to busy of day, so, the customer service should be at least decent. It was horrible! There was rotten lettuce and cilantro. It was a «chore» for them to have to remove it and put new on. I thought we were the customers and are paying for the food. Smile please!

I am a fan of the Café Rio chain. This location is the exception. The food was not prepared well and the manager slopped pico on my burrito when I asked him not to. When I asked for it to be removed he got upset and was very unprofessional. The owners of the franchise should take a look at this location because it makes the brand look bad.

My first time to eat at a Café Rio and I have to say I really like it. The sweet pulled pork burrito was so tasty. As cafeteria style burrito places go, it is a good choice. It is a bit pricey for what you get so wouldn’t be a regular stop, but worth it every once in awhile.

Café rio is a good alternative to fast food. I order gluten free dairy free with corn tortillas and it is satisfying. My favorite is the tostada salad it’s a cheaper salad and no huge flour tortilla to avoid. I can finish it and not feel like a pig. I love the bee sting mango hot sauce and use it as my dressing. I really wish they made brown rice and served coffee, then they would get all five stars. The stamps are a nice bonus so are the daily specials. Make sure you try tamale Thursday, great tasting. I also order half and half with the beans, a little taste treat mixing them. Sometimes the service is slow but I don’t mind. Seating could be more comfy and the place is showing wear but It won’t stop me from eating there.

I have tried multiple times at this location. I want to have a good experience but never do. Bad service and bad food continually are issues and I won’t be returning.

The staff was very sweet and helpful, even if they weren’t the most knowledgeable about their gluten free options. I personally love café rio tortillas, just not for breakfast, so only the hubby ate here today.
