Thousand Peaks Snowmobiling

Great experience! Wife and I did the 2 hour tour and was enough time for both of us. Went in March and weather was great with a lot of snow still at thousand peaks area. We both got our own snow mobiles and feel this was the right decision for us to both get the experience. They had all the gear needed and guides/​staff are great. Would highly recommend thousand peaks and will definitely be back again!

Today we went to Thousand Peaks and we are still excited over our experience! Our guide Sam was incredible along with the ladies in the office. At first we were on the fence– we aren’t athletic or thin and so it left us a little unsure if this was something we could do. The staff made us feel extremely comfortable and assured us we would be fine– and we were! My husband was able to rent their snow pants (3X for some comfy room) and I was able to ride comfortably myself. The trails were so much fun, lots of curves but just as much straight paths to go fast enough to feel the rush! The views were completely breathtaking all around, photos seriously do not do it justice. If you are on the fence like we were I say: go for it! Seriously you won’t be disappointed. This is an experience we will never forget and we thank Thousand Peaks and their lovely staff for being so wonderful. This Texas couple will gladly do this adventure again!

I’ve only had the chance to snowmobile in Idaho and loved our experience so I was a little nervous that trying a new place would be a letdown… boy was I wrong. It certainly didn’t hurt that we had what our guide described as the 2^nd best day of the year. They had 30″ of snow the week before we got there and even better was the 8″ of new snow the night before so we were the first group out the next morning on virgin powder.
I arranged for a private guide for the 3 of us so we wouldn’t have to deal with an inexperienced (translation = slow) group. It’s an expensive option but in my opinion well worth it.

We were first timers. Had a fun time with a great guide, Dan. He was very attentive to making sure we knew what we were doing. Stopped and waited for everyone (6) to catch up. We followed each other, but you can go your own speed. Then he turned us loose twice for about 20 minutes each. All the previous reviews are correct. We had a great and exciting time. This is my kind of «extreme» sport!

Good time. Nice guide — Casey. Snowmobiles were adequate but worn. The only negative is that from Midway it is a 45 minute drive. However, I would do it again.

We had a fabulousssss time! Our guide was amazing and make our day! He led us the way to a huge piece of empty land that we can drive around in circles and practice before heading up the mountains. Next, he led the way up the mountains at 10,000 feet, overlooking the sweeping views of the valleys! I was speechless when I got up there, the views is so beautiful!
How to get there:
Follow the address given in the website (but it will not get you to the snowmobile place). Watch for the diner on the left. Turn left at the diner onto Weber Canyon Road and continue about 11 more miles until the road ends at the Thousand Peak Ranch!
Tips:
~ Renting of gear is not expensive:

~ Face mask is a must, it protects your face from the cold
~ Only the driver has heater on the pedal, for passenger suggest you put some heat warmers in your gloves, you’ll definitely need it
~ Use ski/​snow gloves, using normal glove will numb your hands from the cold
~ We booked the earlier flight at 9am, it was less crowded compared to the afternoon slot, was very crowded when we got back

These folks run a top notch tourism attraction. We went during Christmas week and they moved crowds of people through with great efficiency. I would suspect any other time of year would be a cake walk for them comparatively speaking.
The snow mobiles were great quality with comfortable back seats (back support and grab bars), and easy to operate (our first time). The back country terrain was spectacular and we had a unique opportunity to see it and spend a few hours in it. The tour includes trail riding through forests, open meadows and up a wide cat trail to an incredible view point. It’s varied enough to keep your interest and we really enjoyed our first time on snowmobiles.
Our guide was great, nothing negative to say here. Dress warm and enjoy.

This is a «must do» on your next visit to Park City! We had an absolute blast and it was the highlight of our trip. It was in the middle of a 57,000 acre ranch and was the perfect backdrop for our ride. Don was a phenomenal guide and made sure we had the ultimate experience. The views from 9500 ft up are breathtaking! Best of all, they keep the groups small, so you get the most of your time out on the trails. We will be back for sure!

My entire family agreed that our 2hrs snowmobiling today with Thousand Peaks was the highlight of our whole week on Christmas Vacation in Park City. Beautiful scenery, great staff, awesome new snowmobiles, great price… worth every penny! Riley, our guide did an awesome job! We wanted to go again tomorrow but they were booked:/.
We will be back!!!

We initially were supposed to go the Canyons snowmobile rentals… but luckily our fate was that we ended up at Thousand Peaks!
While it was a good 50 minute drive from our hotel near Red Stone, it was well worth it! It was a beautiful, scenic drive where we saw huge mountains and even stopped to take a picture with a group of alpacas.
Once we arrived sign up and gearing up was relatively fast. Our guide, Chris, was upbeat and super cool.
We had one snow mobile for two which was very comfortable.
Chris took us up the mountain and we took pictures of the amazing landscape, about 10,000 feet high!
We also had time to play around and practice our newly learnt snowmobile skills ;)
My one recommendation: make sure to use feet and hand warmers!!! It gets bitter cold. Face mask is a must.

Tons of fun, great machines and tons of beautiful land to ride on. The staff was friendly knowledgeable and very nice to newbies. Bring warm clothes and have a great time.
We did the two hour your that was just right. They have all the great if you don’t have any. Do the morning trip for fresh snow.

My friend and I did the 2 hour tour. It was simply awesome! We got to ride in a big open field for awhile… Like our tour guide said, it’s like NASCAR out there. Then we up a trail on the side of a mountain to an elevation of about 9,500 feet. The views throughout the trip, but particularly on top of the mountain were absolutely breathtaking. We had Sam for our tour guide and he was really great. He stopped a couple of times to let us take pictures and was super patient when one guy tried to off-​road and got stuck.
I’ll definitely come back here next time I’m in the area to try some of their other tours.

The best experience of our ski trip was the snow mobile tour. Make sure you do the 3 hour tour, get the upgraded snow mobile if you’re into speed, its worth every penny. We went one day snd decided to go back for seconds the next. Ask for Don if you can. He was an awesome tour guide. Took us to a huge bowl with fresh powder, amazing views at 11k feet and let us rip around catching air off of little hills. We will be going every time we visit Park City.

You MUST do this if int he Park City/​Salt Lake City area. My husband and I took the 2 hour tour and both got our own snowmobiles. Do not share, unless you need to. The views are spectacular from this privately owned ranch. You start out on the floor of the valley at about 9,000 feet and then you begin the trail up the mountains where you end up at 11,000 feet with an awesome view of the valley and surrounding mountains… BREATHTAKING! Our guide was extremely helpful and patient. By the way they do rent all gear needed, so you can come in your street clothes and they make it completely painless. Added bonus the snowmobiles are heated… Grips, throttles, even the boot holders. Highly recommended!!!

With a day off in SLC, my 16 yr old son and I headed out to Thousand Peaks for a 2-​hour afternoon tour.
I splurged for both of us to have our own snowmobiles. It was a good choice as my son had a blast. Two hours is a good choice for an intro and won’t leave you tired.
Time speeding around the open prairie was great as was the trail up through the aspens.
Our guide, Byron, was great. Helpful and watchful for one of the slower drivers.
Will do it again next time we’re in the area.

Great time today at Thousand Peaks! My wife, teenage son and 12 year old son had a ton of fun. Guide was terrific always checking to make sure everything was running well and that we were having fun. No up charges for helmets or boots as included in price. Snowmobiles were in top form, clean
and very fast. Guide started them for us each time we stopped. Would highly recommend!

What an awesome adventure! My wife and I went snowmobiling for the first time ever yesterday. It was an awesome day and we had an outstanding tour. Our guide Chris was excellent! He was very helpful and understanding. We would definitely do this again and will recommend it to any and all of our friends who come to the area.

I was there last year and I had the best time. I found their information on my phone so I will bookmark it and recommend them to friends and family.
The stuff is very nice and we got there late and they give us a privet tour and they gave us two snowmobiles instead of one. Made our vacation truly rememberable.

Only one word to describe: AWESOME !
Yesterday, my wife and I came with another couple from Indonesia, who have not snowmobile before… it was truly amazing.
It takes around 30−40min drive from Park City, we were kinda concerns as the location is not available in the GPS and it is out of range for our iPhone GPS, so we need to call halfway to ensure that we’re in the right direction. The location is truly in the corner north east of Weber canyon road (you drove till there is no longer any road available).
We were welcomed in the cabin by a nice lady that asked for our reservation and then we were allowed to borrow the ski pants, boots, googles and gloves for free… yes, this is the service that made me putting a «5 stars» because other location is charging for this type of services. Thank you Thousand Peaks because this is truly helpful for tourists coming from tropical country like Indonesia (they don’t have winter, let alone ski-​gear !!!). Thank you again, as there are so many sizes of the gears allowing us to pick and choose what best suits our body size.
Tyson came-​in and introduced himself as our guide. We need to wait around 15 minutes as Tyson is waiting for another two people (I guest it was a couple), but they never showed-​up. I felt like Tyson/​Thousand-​Peak should not wait for guests who were late and put them in the next tour instead…
We started the tour and Tyson provided the instruction on how to operate the sled, it was really clear and he is patiently answering any questions. We started to go to the meadows, which takes around 10min or so and Tyson let us play for another 20min… it was awesome, as it is private properties, so there are literally no-​one else was there.
The more exciting part is going to the mountain to the 9,000 feet elevation cabin… it was AWESOME ! Tyson is patiently warmed the cabin up and taking photo from every one of us… he is a really nice and knowledgeable guide. Truly good guide.
The scenery was very nice, as we’re in the middle of nowhere, with this secluded cabin. On the way back, we realize that my cousin with his wife was lagging behind too far and we could not see them … I’m kinda worry, as we could not see them, but Tyson kindly returned and looked for them. Apparently, they took the wrong turn. Tyson: Thank you for sensing quickly on why they could not be seen for minutes and quickly fetched them or else we could not imagine what happened if they get stranded in the woods. Thank you again.
So, again, this is simply the best adventure in Utah, by any measure, that any tourist MUST experience during the winter visit …

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing.
I branched out from the rest of my park city ski trip group, took a day to check out the snowmobile tour. It was totally worth it. They have both 500cc/​600cc model ski doo’s, their new and they are pretty powerful for probably being governed. The tour guides and scenery are awesome. I did the half day tour and spruced for the 600cc model (~30 bucks more). We started off in some flats at the base, worked our way up to trails, stopped at the mid canyon cabin, then went all the way up to the top and played around in the snow bowls. If you think you’re more interested in driving less than 45 minutes to get to an amazing location, you should probably stay in park city and not snowmobile. there is no better location than this.
I brought my own gear, but they had a variety of things available for free. which is a luxury, compared to the guy that said there was no one there to help him. I guess you need help putting on snowpants and boots. it’s pretty easy dude. get with it.
To say the least, it was worth every single penny. I would do it again in a heart beat.
