Across the Street

We called Claire on Christmas Eve Day and she agreed to deliver flowers to a home of a dear old friend who was gravely ill — when all other florists were unable to make a delivery. I was extremely grateful and would not hesitate to use them again!

I have been going to this wonderful store for over a decade and started with the propietors back when they owned Morningfields-​a Park Ridge institution. When the propietor Marilyn told me she was opening a new store dedicated to the finest in home furnishings and decorative items, I was there! Marilyn has an eye that very few in the industry have-​over the years she has become my personal Go-​To for all my designer, entertaining, and floral needs. Truly spectacular. What makes this business truly special is that it is family owned and operated and has unflagging customer service. Marilyn and her daughter Claire know all their customers by name, will special order things and will tailor a flower arrangement so gorgeously you will never go elsewhere. Everything in my home has come from them and I have received so many compliments over the years on particular decorative pieces, displays, furniture and floral arrangements.
Walking into this store literally just makes you happy! There are dozens of nooks and displays that upon wandering through you just have to have even though you never knew you needed this item. Recently they have branched out into gourmet food stuffs, and feature a line of ready made sauces that when used to make my standard weeknight chicken dinner, my finicky teen age sons and husband literally inhale it.

The store specializes in custom floral needs and provides flowers for many of the local area business establishments and residents. They also feature a wide variety of the latest and greatest in spa needs-​lotions, soaps, and don’t get me started on candles! I literally buy them out of their candles because they order hard to get lines that smell so wonderful everyone will be asking where you got it! They also started carrying jewelry a few years back which range from funky fun pieces that give your outfit that final touch to some incredibly gorgeous handcrafted necklaces that make the perfect gift for that special someone.
One of the best parts? There is something for everyone in a wide variety of extremely reasonable price ranges. You can satisfy your shopping itch without breaking the bank or go hog wild furnishing your entire home. The one caveat-​you know how you should not go grocery shopping when hungry? Because of their eye for design, the displays are so appealing that on some days I literally cannot allow myself into the store because I will buy up half the store!
To sum it up-​if you have not gone in to this little slice of heaven here in Park Ridge yet you should do it –I guarantee it will just make you happy and put a lift in your day and a smile on your face.

I was in Denver and needed to send my wife flowers at our home in Park Ridge. I asked Siri for florists in Park Ridge and this place came up. I called at 9:00 pm on a Friday night and was able to have a beautiful floral arrangement arrive at my home to my wife’s open arms 12 hours later. Thank you Across The Street!

We had Across the Street do the table design and floral arrangements for our son’s Bar Mitzvah. The place looked over the top fun, tasteful, terrific and I cannot say enough wonderful things about Marilyn and her staff. There were flowers brought in with a very unusual color then accented by LED lights to match our theme and then take it to the next level. They took my theme and SO improved upon it. We could truly not be more pleased. We wanted to avoid the look of a wedding and yet get the glam effect and she pulled it off. If all of that isn’t enough, she is SO fairly priced.
Our event was for approximately 150 people, I would recommend Marilyn and her staff for an event of almost any size.

It just happened to be that I was looking for a Vera Bradley store around me because I wanted to find a cute carry on for my vacation. I also wanted to find a retired Vera Bradley bag because I noticed online that they were actually cheaper than the newer ones. One place I called would only offer me a retired bag at 25% off the original price, which made no sense to me. Not to mention that store wasn’t very helpful.
Nonetheless, I called Across the Street and the person who answered the phone was lovely. She was kind, respectful, and really understanding of what I was looking for. She put me on hold for a minute and went in the back to see if they had any retired bags in the style I was looking for. When she got back on the phone she was actually able to find the bag I wanted and placed it on hold for me. IT WAS SO NICE of her! The effort she made was truly appreciated!
While on the phone the lady was able to direct me to the exact corner of which it was located. She also told me what I would see around it which gave me a mental image as to where it would be. The directions were actually really helpful and made it really easy to find!
When I got there I was amazed at how amazing the place looked! It’s in a vintage style building the interior is SO WELCOMING! It’s really a comfortable setting and the prices on the items were so reasonable. I saw rings that would easily cost you a bundle in a large store for less. Not to mention the rings were really fashionable. I absolutely loved the way the items were placed around the store. The place was very organized and the Vera Bradley’s were so easy to find.
The ladies brought the bag that they had found and it was REALLY NICE! I wanted to see what other retired bags they had and the ladies actually let me go in the back and check. As it turns out I found a really SUPER cute messenger bag that was exactly my style and what I was looking for. The best part was it was half off the original price! We’re talking about a bag that’s original price was $ 82 and I got it for $ 41. That was even less than what I could find it for online.
So I say if your looking for unique things at a GREAT PRICE, this is the place for you!
