I came this place for work lunch, and I like this place a lot. This is the best diner in Park Ridge. Sometimes, it could be crowded.

We had a bad experience here, ordered Southwestern Chicken Spring rolls that was supposed to be served with salsa and sour cream and instead they were served with Thai Sweet Chilli sauce, we have the same one in the fridge. The spring roll itself looked like the one you can buy frozen in Costco. We also ordered Cuban and BBQ Panini, Cuban was ok but dry and BBQ has very little barbecue sauce so it was even more dry. Onion rings that were served with the sand which weren’t cooked, at least they took them off the bill. Poor experience. You can’t expect much from a diner I know, but we’ve been to better ones. 2 stars for fast service, and affordable prices.

Nothing has changed in 20 years. The service was O.K. The food was horrible. The utensils were dirty as well as the drinks with strange things floating in them. Yuk! This was really the last time.

Just had Sunday brunch. Only had to wait for a table for about 10 minutes which isn’t bad at all considering the time we went. The waiter got my table coffee right away & took our orders quick as well. The wait for our food was longer than usual & I did think at one point that they may have forgotten our order. When the food did come out though it was delicious, as usual. When I got the bill I did not realize that their was a brunch special today so that was a pleasant surprise as well.

By far, one of the sh! ttier diner experiences I’ve ever had in New Jersey. First of all, this place looks like it hasn’t been redecorated since 1971. I mean this place looks like the Knights of Columbus hall in The Deer Hunter. Yeah, it’s that bad. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap. Let me preface this by saying I’m no food snob– I eat everything. Just don’t half-ass it. Two bites and I had to send it back. A tortilla filled with limp brown lettuce, over ripened tomatoes and rock hard morsels of diced fried chicken. This wrap was more hard fried batter than chicken. And it seemed like it had Tabasco sauce on it. In all seriousness, it’s like the cook just gave up. Like I said, I kindly sent it back and asked for something basic like a cheeseburger deluxe. You can’t screw that up right? Let me tell you, this cheeseburger was so over cooked that the carcinogens in it made it taste like a forest fire. And again the lettuce and tomato they serve with it… limp, colorless and something I would NEVER put in my mouth. They totally drop the ball on the customer service end too. No sooner did I receive my meal that the waiter asked me if I wanted dessert. Dessert…you just served me pal! I didn’t want dessert and he just dropped the check on my table. I just got served and they dropped the check on the table!!! Never«How is everything sir… can I get you another drink?» Sorry, but in NJ which is the land of diners– you really have to step up your game. I will never EVER come back to The Ridge again. And if you like to enjoy your meals, I suggest you never walk through these doors.

Can’t review. Waited 20 minutes for service. Staff seemed to look right through us so we walked out. No response when we told the cashier.

This is everything a diner should be, good food, waitresses old enough to be my grandma, newspaper reading townies, all packaged in an old doublewide. The only downside, which I can’t fault them for, is that it’s always crowded.

Cool spot and also James Gandolfinis childhood hangout. He would go back with his son and tell him stories of his childhood. If James liked it it must be good. :)

Not sure what the big deal is at this place. Had an omelet. Just ordinary. Service was average at best. As soon as we sat down, we were asked what we were having. When I told him coffee, he wanted to know what we wanted to eat. I explained that we just sat down and needed a minute. Seemed annoyed. A fine place to go but nothing to brag about. There are other diners I like better

I came across this diner via Unilocal last night and decided to give it a try. Other Unilocalers complained the local kids like to hang out there and yes indeed lots of teenagers however it’s not a big deal the kids are well behaved and we enjoyed our meal. My husband had the Gyro and I had a Greek salad. DELICIOUS! The waitress was nice and attentive the owner seems to be an older gentleman and a younger man whom stand near the entrance and serve as hostess. Both men were polite and directed us to our table. All in all I’m glad I use this app. The food was fresh and quite delicious. My husband and I are trying to eat healthy and his gyro side had fries. The fries were so good he made me to believe they were baked! They weren’t but they were soooo yummy, crispy and barely any grease for that I thought they were baked.

I live near this diner and people always talk about how great it is, but I think its decent. The food is ok, nothing amazing. I stopped going there for meals, and if I do go in its for a dessert or a small snack. In terms of diners, there are better ones in the area. The diner has prompt service and a friendly staff however which make it a great place to go late night or after you’ve been out getting hammered. All in all, stop in for some pie after you had a couple shots.

Stumbled upon this place just passing thru Park Ridge. My husband and our two young sons really enjoyed. Friendly and prompt service. Wide variety on the menu. Food was delicious, portions were generous, prices were very reasonable. While I doubt I will find myself in Park Ridge again, I would highly recommend the Ridge Diner.

My favorite hometown haunt, The Ridge Diner has a loyal following, and it deserves all the praise it receives! The late(and great) James Gandolfini, a Park Ridge native, called The Ridge his favorite restaurant, and the magazine he’s quoted in hangs proudly on the wall. The Ridge is family-owned, and you feel like family whenever you’re there. Servers are attentive even during the busy dinner rush, and you’re always seated with a smile. I’ve come here with my family. I’ve come here on dates. I’ve come here with giant groups of friends — groups so giant that tables need to be pushed together. The Ridge can handle pretty much anything. Favorite menu items? I always love a good BLT or a grilled cheese with tomato. Disco fries(fries with melted cheese and gravy) always hit the spot. Their salads are hefty and full of fresh ingredients. Their matzo ball soup and French onion soup are comforting on a cold day after a high school football game. Breakfasts come with a generous serving of home fries. They make a decent egg cream with lots of chocolate syrup. Whenever I come home to see my parents I always hope we’ll grab dinner(or breakfast, or lunch) at The Ridge. It’ll always be THE diner, in my opinion.

FOOD: This place is very local to me and one of my favorites. I decided to buy the triple decker ham and Swiss sandwich. I honestly did not find it very delicious as it didn’t seem too fresh. But, I’m not taking a star off for it because I never order anything besides breakfast. My friend Autumn ordered disco fries which she thought were good even though they were drenched in gravy. Autumn and I split mac & cheese wedges with marinara sauce and they were amazing!!! We laughed because one of our wedges were heart shaped. My other friend Bertha had mozzarella sticks and she ate them very quickly. Like Berta says, «you can never go wrong with mozzarella sticks!» For dessert we got brownie delight(with vanilla ice cream) and we devoured it! It was so delicious that we ate it in under five minutes. It was so big and you definitely got your moneys worth. Bertha especially loved the fudge brownie. Please note there are nuts in it. SERVICE: Service was good. No complaints. I’d just like the servers to have more emotion! ATMOSPHERE: People of all ages go here because everyone loves the food! it’s a nice and comfortable place that you will definitely enjoy.

it’s a stable diner in NJ, if you are in HS you know everyone who works there, if you retired, you know everyone that works there. It’s exactly what a diner should be and is. Stick with the basics and you’ll love it.

Everyone hails this as the best diner in the area, and I have to agree. I’ve been coming here since I was little and the service and food quality is consistent. Some of my favorites: chicken caesar wrap, cheese fries with gravy!!!, combo wrap which is everyone’s dream meal after a long night of drinking, a simple grilled cheese with bacon, and most of their breakfast items are reliable. They also have especially crunchy pickles which come with coleslaw. They’re open late and on the weekends are open 24 hours. Overall, a great way to start your day or end your night.

Teenager hang-out spot. Prices are reasonable. My husband ordered a double burger and they brought him two burgers. We thought it was funny and didn’t bother calling the waiter back. He just removed the bun from the other burger and made his own double burger. He said that it tasted well. Will be back again so I can order food and decide for myself.
