For my purposes, this place gets 5 stars. I play kitchen table Magic: The Gathering and a friend turned my boyfriend and I on to this place to help refine our decks a little more. We knew that they sold individual cards, but we were not prepared for the huge variety available, and needless to say we were pretty excited. There are literally binders full of Magic cards from more current series, as well as older series. We had a limited amount of time the day we went, so we were only able to look through a couple of the binders, but we each found cards that were good for our decks, and the prices seemed very fair($ 0.50 for commons, $ 0.75 for uncommons, and a minimum of $ 2.00 for rares. Much better than buying a fat pack and hoping something useful turns up!). We will definitely be visiting again on a day when we have more time! Just wish they weren’t so far away from us(we live in Englewood).

I had not been to Collector Mania in a few years. In fact, although I knew the Cottonwood location had closed, I did not realize they had opened up on Hilltop, until I drove around the back of Vitamin Cottage. I popped my head in to see what was what, and to make a quick purchase. The place was jammed with young men participating in a Magic the Gathering new release tournament. I had no idea that Magic was still that popular. The mood seemed upbeat, energetic, and happy. I made my purchase, and was on my way. I am glad that this place is still around and that it serves a niche that still has demand.

This place has always been my go-to spot for comics and Magic: The Gathering. They have an outstanding selection of comics, posters, miniatures, some card games, etc. the employees are super friendly and always happy to help out whatever you need. This is not a collectibles store for baseball cards or anything of that sort, more of a hobby shop. Love this place, 5⁄5.

I’ve been a comic reader/collector for 23 years and I’ve been to comic stores all over the country, so I’m a bit critical of comic shops, so take my review with that in mind. I’ve been in a few times to find comics that sold out. Generally the store is okay, here’s a quick run down: + 1. Staff is always friendly and tries to help out whenever I go in. — 2. A lot of space is devoted to gaming tables(which is cool, I’m a gamer myself) but it’s hard to get around the store on a weekend because every inch is taken up. — 3. The selection of merchandise is fine, but on the light side. They have the full range of new comics, and TPBs, but not much else. They also had card game supplies. Overall, I like the staff, but the shop is too crowded and has too little variety in terms of merchandise to give it my recommendation. As another reviewer said, it’s a nice neighborhood shop, but it’s not worth traveling a long distance.

Having previously managed a comic book store, reviewing them becomes a double-edged sword for me. On one hand, having experienced the difficulty of keeping a brick-and-mortar comic and gaming store alive in this day and age urges me never to give a comic store less than a 3 star review. .. even if it’s terrible. On the other, the biggest problem with keeping these stores alive seems to be a combination of poor marketing, appearance, and general management knowledge. We visited Collectormania on a Saturday afternoon, the prime time for Magic tournaments. The store was crammed with teenage, young, and middle-aged men, no doubt enjoying the camaraderie of their game. However, the amount of tables in the store based on the size of the store made the shopping experience uncomfortable. I’d say the general collection of comics and trade paperbacks/graphic novels is small. There’s a wall of Warhammer and other gaming paraphernalia that I had to squeeze between the wall and tables to peruse. There seemed to be many employees(3 – 4 behind the counter) and everyone was amiable. We were asked if we needed help, so I can’t knock the customer service, but to be honest our visit was fairly brief due to the small collection and crowded shop. We haven’t returned to this shop and I doubt we will. Unfortunately, most comic book stores aren’t earners of high revenue. They make due with the space they have, and since Magic and other games are top earners for these small stores, I understand the need to fit in as many tables as possible. Collectormania isn’t a bad store, but is definitely one in need of improvements, primarily regarding space. Less gaming, more comics, brighter ambiance(it was dark and dingy). I can’t give them less than 3 stars, especially for having such nice employees, and I wouldn’t. They’re right in line with«A-OK», but I’ll continue driving to Time Warp in Boulder for my comic fix.

I’m not a huge comic book geek but I do have a few different series I go thru and collect periodically. I got tired of ordering them off the Internet so went and tried to find one locally. Not surprisingly, there was almost nothing that wasn’t downtown. I finally found this one in Parker and figured I’d go in and give it a shot. The first thing you’re struck with when you go in is that half the store is comprised of tables and chairs filled with a bunch of guys playing Magic the Gathering. I almost backed out the door, but persevered. There’s not much to the store itself. The front has row upon row of movie posters and on the sides are play sets for Magic and other card games. In the back they have a section of new comics and then some older comics in boxes. I found exactly what I was looking for and quickly made my exit. I’ve been back a few times and it’s pretty much the same experience every time, altho the staff is always super-friendly. I was looking for a comic once that wasn’t on the shelf and mentioned it to the guy when I was checking out and he went looking for it and found in a section where I guess the staff keeps the ones they’re currently reading. He gave it to me and I went happily on my way. Overall, a great experience!

Collector Mania is the best comic book shop that I have found within a 25 mile radius of Denver. When I moved to Denver back in August of 08, I did a google search for comic books within 25 or 30 miles of my new apartment(just south of Denver). Collectors Mania was the first place I stopped and I really should have ended my search there. Tim and his staff are the best! The store has a great collection of games, posters and comics. And the best part is that if you don’t see it, Tim is more than happy to order it for you. Tim has even gone out of his way to order japanese graphic novels for me. All I did was give him a list of the ones I wanted and he just calls me when they come in(which beats trying to hit up Barnes and Noble every time a new book is suppose to come out). Collectors Mania also has Magic and Yugioh tournaments. They are also very friendly about explaining how to play to first time players(myself included). If you are looking for a great comic book store in the Greater Denver area, I would highly recommend Collector’s Mania.

I stopped in there a year or so ago looking for a couple of gaming books so the review is a little out of date. This is a smallish comic book sized shop with several games on a book shelf in the back and 8 or so tables. Most were Magic: The Gathering with one D&D(3e I believe) game going on. There was one miniatures battle being put away(Starwars it looked like). The shop seemed more like a little neighborhood comic book/game store which isn’t bad. Not some place you might travel to from elsewhere in the metro area but certainly good for folk in the area. It was nice that the staff actually asked if I needed help.
