We had bad service Sunday night. Had reservations and still was seated 20 minutes late. They had run out of one dessert, one side, and tried to serve us an obviously flat beer. Garden salad was mostly whitish lettuce(looked like we got the last ones maybe). We thought Restaurant week had ended. Place was packed and they kept taking walk ins. Why bother with reservations if you’re not going to reserve us a table. So we get the last one right by the entrance to the main restaurant. After horrible salads, food was fine and our server was very good(Rachel). We just picked a bad night to go there. I have been going here for over 10 years. This night was not up to their normal standard which is usually average, so it irritated me that the service got worse. I’ll go back(of course b/c their food is USUALLY) great and we like the atmosphere. Or maybe we’ll try Cockeysville. The Salmon was done perfect. The asparagus was al dente. The crab cakes were tasty and prepared perfectly. Someone in the kitchen was doing a great job. Too bad about the shortages and the bad beer.

Great food, amazing friendly service. Their Crabcakes are TODIEFOR! Seriously. They don’t compare to anything else in Baltimore. They have a bar, fine dining, and space upstairs for parties and events.

Pappas is a nice family owned place with great service and great people. After a 15 minute wait we were seated and greeted by a nice lady(can’t recall her name) and some cucumbers and celery. I thought this was a little strange until i tasted them and let me tell you they were UHH-MAZ-ZING, they definitely get a star for these homemade pickles alone. Coming here I already knew what I wanted. The crab cake. I ordered the crab cake with jackknife potatoes and asparagus.(Only $ 19.99) The food came out in a timely fashion. The asparagus was a tad bit mushy, bland and overcooked and the jackknife potatoes left much to be desired. The crab cake on the other hand was pretty good, it had nice lumps of crab meat and was filling. The only thing I disliked about it was the occasional lumps of bread filler that i would run into. Overall i think this place deserves 3 stars. One trend I notice with crab cake places is that they always have bland sides and that really takes away from the experience for me. I hope that they switch things up a little in the future. I would come back just for the crab cakes and the pickles.

Had a friend in from Columbus, OH. Had to have crab cakes since he was in Maryland. We had dinner at the bar. The bartender was friendly, the service was quick and the crab cakes were just the right balance of big chunks of crab meat and spicy flavor. The Cole slaw was good and the jackknife potatoes? were very good. You can’t go wrong at Pappas.

Yes the crabcakes here are good and are some of the best, but that is all they really have going for them. The wait staff is a hit or miss, and the rest of the menu is just okay. Parking here is always terrible, which is the main reason I hate eating there. Half the restaurant looks like it was updated, and the other half is still stuck in the 70’s.

Pappas’ crab cakes have to be one of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of devouring ! I’ve yet to be able to conquer an entire one by myself, even when eliminating the roll if it’s the sandwich, or the side orders if it’s a meal. The atmosphere never changes, it’s always a beautiful dining experience even when just popping in and dining at the bar. This is and probably ALWAYS will be, a classic favorite spot to meet family or friends for that special occasion.

Carry out order of crab cakes. Lump crab and little else– how do they stay together?! A mystery. No sauce required. A glass of wine. Heaven! Will definitely pick up again.

Best crabcakes in Baltimore! Sports Bar is a good casual spot if you just want a good beer and a sandwich. I really like the seafood club except you could definitely share because it is a monster sandwich! We sometimes split the crab melt which is a crabcake on an English muffin topped with melted cheese. Very tasty! Belinda makes a killer bloody mary!

I’ve lived in this area for at least 12 years and had never been to Pappas. Stopped here for a gift card for a gift and decoded to eat while we were here. Boy was I missing out on the crabcake! One is plenty and the chunks of crab are huge! Held together with very little filler. I don’t think I’ve had a better one! Will definitely be back!

Whenever you’re asked about where can you get the best crab cakes, Pappas Restaurant should be listed in the options available. This is just one of the locations around the Baltimore, Maryland area, and anyone who lives around the Parkville/Towson area should at least have been to Pappas. I came here for my 40th birthday, and got the crab cake sandwich, and it certainly never disappoints. There are also other options available for you if you’re not a fan of crabs or seafood in general. Although, I would highly recommend trying one out. Another great aspect about this business is that it has it’s own carryout section, as well as a liquor store too. Definitely recommend this business to anyone.

Pappas in Parkville holds a special place in my heart. We hosted our HUGE family reunion here in their upstairs area and it was a monumental event. Since than several of our family members have passed away and we visit now for the good memories Pappas preserves. The outstanding food doesn’t help either! I stick with the Crab Cakes when I go and they are just as delectable as they are at their other locations, very consistent. I was notified by my wife that Pappas made the Oprah favorite list and that is really saying something. My family and I will continue to come to Pappas and will hopefully pass the tradition on to our younger ones.

After hearing friends rave about Pappas Restaurant, I decided to treat hubby and myself to lunch there. I must say that the staff is very courteous. Nice spot and very tasty food at lunch

I’ve eaten here about 3 or 4 times. I go when I’m visiting MD from NY. They have the best crab cakes I’ve ever tasted anywhere in my entire life. I could sit there eating them all day long in unlimited quantities(and they’re large). Other than that, the restaurant is very nice. It is a bit pricey, but that’s because you’re paying for fresh crab meat which has been taken out of the shell(fresh lump crab meat is expensive in general anywhere you get it). I absolutely recommend coming here and eating the crab cakes.

My husband and in have always ordered from the carry out which is always pretty great but this? time we went into the dining room since my cousin and her husband were in from out of state and she wanted a great crabcake. I really regret not taking a picture! I was just so excited to dig in lol. The crabcake platter they have for 19.99 is a fantastic deal! You get not only your amazing crabcake but two sides, a soup and your drink ! That’s a great value, especially since other places charge more for less food and not as good of a quality of food . They have a mix of things on the menu so there is something for everyone, the dining room isn’t super big or really updated but it reminds me of a «fancy» place my grandparents would take me and we all dressed up. Its nice to go somewhere with this environment. I have a three year old that generally does well in restaurants and the staff was so nice to her, that’s big for me. She was given a small toy(she LOVES that tiny zebra) and crayons, she ordered grilled cheese with fries and a sweet tea. I ordered the 19.99 Pappas crabcake platter, this is absolutely what I recommend!!! The crabcake had CHUNKS and CHUNKS of high quality crab, my mouth waters just thinking about it! My sides were the mashed potatoes and gravy and asparagus with the crab soup. My sides were the perfect size and fantastic! The mashed potatoes and gravy had that nice homemade feel and reminded me of my mom’s potatoes growing up, asparagus was tender but not mushy and it was a good size serving. The crab soup wasn’t my cup of tea but it wasn’t awful, just not my ideal(total personal preference). The sweet tea was real tea, none of that pre-made tea crap, although it wasn’t as sweet as I liked(think older generation sweet, needs an extra pack of sugar). Everyone seemed to really enjoy their meals and the staff was friendly and attentive, we will be back soon., I can’t stop thinking about that crabcake! Just remember for the dining room to dress nicely, think casual work wear, no ballgown or suit required lol.

This place doesn’t look like much from the outside. It’s in kind of a run down looking strip mall. But inside, the place is pretty nice. We sat on the bar side. They have an impressive looking bar with a nice selection of draft beers. What everyone comes here for and what draws people in is the crabcakes. For 20 $, you get a giant crabcake, 2 sides, and a cup of soup. The cream of crab soup was a nice starter, but the real star are their crabcakes. Huge pieces of crab meat are held together without any filler. You’re really getting quality at this place. In fact, I don’t think I’ve had a better crab cake in my life. I would recommend this place first if you’re in the area and hankering for a crabcake. I doubt you’ll find better.

Disclaimer: I came here just for the crabcakes and so that is mainly what I am reviewing. That said, the crab cakes lived up to the hype! I can’t claim they are the best in Baltimore because they are the only ones I’ve had in Baltimore, but I was pretty satisfied with them. The are a good size, filled with HUGE chunks of crab meat and there is very little filler. Seasoned well and the accompanying tartar sauce was great. Other than the crab cakes, I got a salad(good, but hard to mess up) and chose the vegetable of the day(asparagus) as my side. The asparagus was very ‘meh’ and nothing to write home about. Pappas is very much a locals bar. Lots of folks in there that seemed to be regulars. I ate on the sports bar side and sat at a high top table. The service was very mediocre at best. TL;DR Go here if you are looking to make a stop in Baltimore for some crab cakes! If you don’t want crab cakes, you can likely get better service/food elsewhere.

We got there and they seated us right away. The staff was very nice. We waited over 20 minutes for our food. But when we finally got our crab cakes… boy was it worth the wait. The meat was so juicy. There were no cartilage in it. Fresh crab. Little bread crumbs. It was so good that for once I took my time to eat it which everyone who knows me, knows that I’m a beast in a tiny body. Hubby got the broiled seafood platter. He said his stuff was dry except for the crabcake. For sides the one we recommend getting is the potato cooked in a tin. It’s the size of a small cupcake but so rich. I wish I got two of it. Gave it a five based on the crab cakes and the nice staff.
