Allendale Branch Pasadena Public Library

Colorful staff and great service. Barry and Roseanna are the best librarians. So much to see and do. Really great place for kids and other staff are great too!

This is a great local branch library. The staff are outstanding. Every time I come, they are very friendly and helpful (much more so than at nearby South Pasadena library). As a branch location, it is not big at all and due to its proximity to a nearby school, it gets very crowded and noisy after 3pm on weekdays. However, I appreciated how the library staff maintained order, despite the chaos in the afternoons.

I was pretty stoked for a couple weeks for an author talk, when the day came around, this library did not disappoint!
Greeted by the staff, they offered light snacks and beverages for all the participants. Upon entry, a raffle ticket is given to each guest. The author I saw wrote a book on Walt and Disneyland (I’m a huge Disney fan and a long time annual pass holder) so you can imagine my excitement.
The presentation lasted 1.5 hours with a signing at the end. The only part I did not enjoy was that the presentation was more of a Q&A rather than a full talk on the book. The author had a whole presentation ready, but the library asked him not to proceed with his usual presentation (major sad face).

They were super helpful today while I was looking for a specific author.

The beauty of this library is you can go online and request books even if this library is limited in space to carry so many books and you can stop in and get your books. The very best part of this library is the lovely and smiling Ruzanna who is often up front checking books in and out. She is such a joy to see that I love visiting this library. It feels like family at this Pasadena Library and is one of my favorite places to visit. Ruzanna even helped my daugher find books for her research paper (on the benefits of chewing gum – gotta love it.) The next time I saw Ruzanna she asked about the progress of the research paper and offered further help. You can’t get this kind of service in a big, cold library. I even like when the students arrive when school is out. They are often loud and they make me wonder if their parents keep track of them. They are in great hands at this library, though!

This is for the Allendale Branch of the Pasadena Public Library. Located in Allendale Park which has tennis and mixed use sports fields. A great low key library with easy parking; it is perfect for requesting/​picking up your reserved books – much easier than dealing with the Main Branch. It gets busy after school with all the kids from across the street. very friendly staff!
