Where is this place??? A week ago on Friday morning(8AM) I wanted to get donuts for the office. In my search for a good donut place in Pasadena I came across mentions of Astro’s MiniDonuts. I went to the Rose Bowl, which is the address listed for Astro’s MiniDonuts. Walked around and didn’t find them. Asked a security guard by the entrance to Rose Bowl, but he had no idea of what I was talking about. I showed him Astro’s Unilocal page, he still had no idea. I Called Astro’s number twice, but there was no answer. I left a voicemail but did not get call back. Wasted time and gas.

OMG I stumbled into DONUTHEAVEN !! As I was waiting in line I felt like barreling down and pushing people out of my way because the aroma was mesmerizing !! The French toast donut was delicious and literally melted in my mouth OMG just absolutely delicious and wonderful !! The lemon zest donut was sheer perfection and it’s a shame that they don’t have one of these places by my house but i sure will make the time to visit this place for sure !! I took a couple to take back to the kids and they absolutely loved them !! If you happen to be I beautiful Pasadena do give this place a chance it is truly a little piece of heaven !!

Delicious mini-donuts. We tried the lemon zest and french toast donuts. The french toast donuts did indeed taste like french toast. The lemon zest uses(surprise!) lemon zest, and the citrus flavor was nicely refreshing. All in all, donuts were great. But the guy making the donuts(Astro?) was as slow as molasses in February. I’ve seen these little mini-donut machines in other places before and they weren’t as slow. We were probably fourth in line and getting the donuts must have taken a good 15 mins. Seemed like maybe there were some technical issues. We watched him throw some donuts away, and throw some back into the grease when I guess he felt they were not done to his satisfaction. I suppose if you have a mobile setup, there could be some kinks to work out, but then as far as I can tell, this place is always mobile.

It’s been 3 days since I happened upon this stand at the 626 Night Market and I can’t get the taste of the Lemon Zest out of my mind. I only meant to eat one or two, but the zest was so good, I ate four! (And licked my finger to gather up the zest dust from the bottom of the tray. Which was more civilized than licking the tray, right?)

I love you, Astro donuts. Here I thought nothing could beat Krispy Kreme’s, In terms of donutty goodness But you took my breath away. Your golden crispy outside… And warm melty middle… Light snowing of powdered sugar… Served in a nice small guiltless portion size. Although I’ve only met your French side, I cannot wait to meet the rest of your growing menu. :D: — – BTW you REALLY need to update your website/facebook/twitter…how are people supposed to be able to follow you and all your wonderfulness?

SOOOO Good! I had the French Toast mini donuts tonight as the last treat from the 626 Night Market before leaving tonight. I’m glad I got to try it even though I was already stuffed. OMG the texture and the taste were money! It wasn’t every sweet and you can’t beat getting fresh made donuts. Until we meet again little gems…

FRESHMINIDONUTS! They have a little semi-automated machine that floats them thrown the deep fryer and then spits them out in the collection basket. HIGHLYCOOL(ok perhaps I am easily amused…). I had the french toast donuts, which was a dozen mini donuts, some whipped cream, covered in cinnamon and sugar and whatnot. Donuts could’ve been cooked a few seconds longer, and the ones on the bottom of the tray got a little mushy(makes sense…), but man, they were good. Was it worth the $ 6? For a dozen mini-donuts? For one or two people it might be too much, you’d be half-full after; but if you just want a taste, one order among six people is probably about right. We had four people and maybe a few extra, but all good– they were well worth it!
