As a Medi-Cal patient I wasn’t expecting to get the care I was used to with normal insurance. Chap DelMar surprised me with their friendly staff and doctors. They take time with you versus rushing you out, they explain everything to you in terms you can understand and they give you options for treatment. You’re not treated like a number there. The only reason I gave them 4 stars is their parking lot is way too small. They also need a better phone system so you can reach the front office instead of going thru an answering service.

I’ve been coming to CHAP(Del Mar Blvd) Office since 2013 after I had a broken toe and no insurance due to being laid off by my employer. I was shocked at the quality of care, follow-up care and proactive care I received. Three years latter, I still consider this to be the best medical experience I have had overall. For 20 years through former employers, I was part of major HMO’s and paid $ 400.00 to $ 500.00 a month to insurance. The doctors under those HMO plan’s never provided proactive consul or care, were rather impatient when I asked questions, never followed up to notify me about yearly check-ups. It also took a long time to be approved for Specialized services. CHAP on DelMar(MediCal and other insurance). has done way more than I ever imagined or expected in taking care of me, providing proactive care, specialized services have been approved in a reasonable amount of time. I especially like that the Doctors take time to answer my questions. Both the nurses and doctors seem interested in me and my overall care. That’s kinda of unusual in the medical world. I have seen several different doctors at CHAP on Del Mar Blvd, and all of them have been exceptionally patient, friendly and caring; and isn’t that what a person really wants?
