The taste of the food is excellent. But my only disappointment here is that for the lunch special they always seem to skimp on the meat. I’m talking about the chicken and beef which is pretty much the only dishes that are included in the lunch special. I understand you’re charging 5 dollars for the lunch special but does that really justify putting only 6 pieces of meat in my dish and the rest all vegetables. The flavor of the food is on point, but every time I open my to go box I don’t want to always say«What the hell. wheres the meat»

I’ve lived one block away from this place for the last 5 years this May. Just last week I decided to go see how they’ve managed to remain in business, being that they are located in such a remote spot with such a hum drum storefront. Cars whiz right by them daily and probably don’t even notice they exist. Now I know why they haven’t closed down — their shrimp fried rice is great! Fresh shrimp was the highlight of the meal, and the rice wasn’t gummy. Their dumplings were decent, too. The service was fast enough, for freshly cooked food, which is VERY much appreciated. And their prices are phenomenal. Two people got full bellies off of $ 20 worth of food. We’re going back tonight.

Friendly front guy/waiter. I have to say though, the food has no Asian flair to it(even though my wife and I could see an Asian lady doing some of the cooking in the back). I was expecting a tasty stir fried soft noodle dish(chow mien/lo mien), get the idea. It sadly, very sadly, had no wok hay(no flavor that would indicate it was cooked in a high temperature wok), and to boot, it had a a sweet sauce on top that I guess pleases some more Americanized palates. But this is not even good Chinese American food. My wife, who’s Korean, and has had good Asian food growing up in New York, said that this is not the kind of establishment Asians would eat at. Well, well, yeah, I kind of knew that, but always try to give it the benefit of the doubt, and generally enjoy trying new places and the risks involved!(but even a place you liked the first time does not always mean you would love just as much the second time around – that’s one of the things a learned through Unilocal’s wisdom). Oh, another disappointment with the order: the steamed dumplings were undercooked. Please don’t even bother.

I came here for lunch after walking by and seeing that they offered chinese dumplings. I love din tai fung and similar dumpling houses in the SGV but hate driving out there. China Bowl is a teeny tiny storefront with six 2-person tables. Most patrons seemed to be enjoying the soups and chow mein options. I waited about 15 minutes for my lunch order of dumpings(8 pieces) and a small side of rice. A really long time in my book but I was not disappointed! They were delicious. I think there must have been some confusion in the kitchen, so I’m not too miffed about it. I would’ve liked it if my dumplings were served with a small bowl and spoon(to catch the juices) but otherwise, no complaints. You can’t beat $ 4.99 for dumplings!!! The place was recently updated(looks like a new paint, new menu board, and new to-go menus). Very pleased, will return soon.

The delivery person showed up about 10 minutes after the whole mix up. Finally! Been starving here! Come to find out they totally messed up on two of the orders!!! Called China Bowl again to have the order swapped, fixed, a something to receive 110% customer satisfaction, but sad to say they wanted to charge full price for the two orders they messed up on! Don’t even bother!

i tried their black bean peppered beef, w/lo mein, an egg roll, and fried shrimp. restaurant needs a major cosmetic overhaul. employees/owner was very friendly. very small place, only 3 tables, take out seem to be the majority of their business. black bean peppered beef was a little salty, but decent. lo mein was delicious and i could taste the flame from the wok. egg roll was a little burnt, but delicious and unique, filled with cabbage, carrots, and potato. fried shrimp was big, and batter was great! a little over fried though. sweet and sour sauce was not that great, and they didn’t have hot mustard. no parking lot, only street parking. restaurant hidden away in a business district. i would go back if i was in the area again to try different dishes. was pretty satisfied overall with the taste of the food.

i was craving fried rice a few nights ago after work so i Unilocaled for the closest open Chinese food place with a decent rating and found this little hole in the wall. it definitely doesn’t look very inviting at first… i mean, at all, actually but the dude was super friendly. he talked to me like an ol’ buddy, which i always love! and made recommendations that i appreciated very much. that first night, i went with the combination fried rice and then the next time, my husband ordered sweet & sour pork with half fried rice & chow mein and boooooy is it nommy nom nom. i saved some to bring to work and that’s what i’m having today. seriously. EATHERE!

These guys are still going strong, and now they’re open for dinner and provide free delivery! Woohoo! Nobody in town can touch this place for their beef chow-fun in black bean sauce. Get it extra spicy.

Oh man I stumbled into this tiny place just by chance. I was driving around looking for a new place to eat and this place was so tiny I almost missed it. It’s a total hole in the wall, I ordered the kung pao tofu with chicken and chow mein for $ 5.50 it was so much food! I also got an order of wonton soup which was good but –it was super hot– i had to wait a long time before i could actually eat it.(He did warn me but I didn’t realize it was this hot) I also ordered the black bean bell pepper beef, and it was soo GOOD! man it was by far the best I’ve had. Overall the food was delicious, their services was eeh okay… the only complain was that soup – i burned my tongue :(

A little hole in the wall with all of two or three tables. It really isn’t meant for dining in, but they are happy to serve you if that’s what you decide to do. The food is prepared fresh, and all veggies are fresh, crisp, and cooked perfectly. Their secret weapon is some sort of Chinese gravy on many entrees that is utterly delicious. The shrimp is fantastic — I almost always get shrimp with snow peas or shrimp with vegetables.
