Two words, «Lunch Special.» Three entrees is a lot of food. Me and my gf got three each and we paid around $ 22 for the meal and we have enough for another meal in leftovers. My new favorite lunch place!

First time here and probably not coming back again LOL Wanted to go elsewhere but the boyf’s sister wanted to come here so Gin it was. Parking was pretty full and kinda small in the back, anything else is street which isn’t plentiful either. Located on the corner across from a car wash. Came in and waited a few minutes before being seated. Booth was a bit messed up and I guess their solution was to use duct tape. I was a little worried since a bunch of pictures had bugs in there but I didn’t experience anything out the ordinary. The menu was a little overwhelming as there was so many dinner combos, dinner plates and then it was underwhelming at the same time. There weren’t that many appetizers that you usually see at sushi places. His sister and her boyfriend ordered the Gin roll, Pasadena roll and Mexican roll. All California roll based and then baked with loads of mayo. I tried the Gin one and it was eh. Definitely fills you up since its all baked and topped with something I wasn’t even sure what it was. Boy and I ordered — baked mussels(it was cut in half for some reason¿), sesame chicken appetizer(overlooked and flavorless), chicken teriyaki plate, and chirashi. If I don’t wanna overwhelm myself I just get the chirashi and it was $ 15 here so deal! Lunch price is $ 11. There was plenty of fish but eh. It looked better in the other Unilocaler’s pictures. I don’t know how they messed up the rice but it wasn’t cooked right and normally for chirashi it’s seasoned. And this was just plain.

The service is definitely good! They were very attentive and took care of us fairly well. The sushi was average’ish’. With the good service, we’re looking at a two star sushi place. The prices were very good though.

Service is awesome. The sushi tastes great but the presentation is sloppy. Did I mention the great service?

Gins sushi has been my go to sushi spot for a couple years now, I love their quick service and attentiveness. My favorite is their crunch roll! So far no other place makes it like Gins!

My go to sushi place. I come here with friends and family. It’s a chill spot. Food: dragon roll: raw salmon on wrapped around a spicy tuna. Not bad. I like the tangy ponzu sauce on it Bscr: CA roll with scallops, mayo, and some brown sauce. Creamy heaven! I like to put the left over scallops on warm rice! Salmon sake: always consistently good. Combo: beef teriyaki. If ur not a fan of too much sauce, ask for it on the side. The salad is this tangy thousand island type dressing. Tempura is always good here Service?! It’s like night and day. Some days service is awesome and they are so attentive. Some days it’s horrible. So horrible if I were to choke on my food no one would come by. Lol ok I’m exaggerating a little but u get the point. Forgot to add: they bring miso soup to start ur meal

This is one of my favorite shushi place. Very generous in portions and prices are very reasonable too. Hope that the Korean sushi chefs are as friendly as the usual Japanese chefs. The older lady that was working there for a long time is very friendly. I came back 6-19-2016. This was the time that the temperature was so hot. We were outside together with about 12 people, more than 100 degrees hot waiting for them to open, and they opened late. I think everyone who waited outside were in a bad mood as they come in. Then I ordered a combination of Sesame Chicken, Chicken Yakitori and Salmon Teriyaki. The Yakitori was not fresh, looked like a left over from last night and it was grossly covered with candy tasting brown sauce. Same thing with my salmon, it was also covered with the same sauce. The taste of 2 of my 3 selections had one flavor, dominated by the sauce. I was so disgusted, it will take for me sometime to come back to this place. In fairness, I have no complains on the sushi.

This was my first time coming here. It’s a big expensive. Maybe it’s because I’ve been to spoiled by my other two favorite places and they aren’t so pricey lol But the food is great! We ordered Crunchy rolls, lobster rolls, Philadelphia rolls and Sashimi. I loved the Philadelphia rolls because they serve a big piece of salmon and cream cheese. Most places don’t do that but they do and it’s officially my favorite place for this dish! I’ve tried sashimi for the first time ever and it’s great! We had the tuna and while it’s a bit salt, it’s really great. I wouldn’t mind having it again. The salmon sashimi was awesome I would really recommend it. Both sashimi were very fresh! I shared the tempura ice cream… didn’t really like it so much. I think it’s because of the cake that was wrapped around the green tea ice cream. Other than that. Everything was lovely, service was great and I wouldn’t mind going again… but with a little more money lol

Came for the first time for dinner on a Monday night and it wasn’t too crowded. I’m no sushi snob so I had a pleasant experience albeit nothing special. I’ve had better chirashi bowls with more substantial pieces of fish but this was still decent. My overall impression of the food, atmosphere and service was about a 3+ star not quite 4 star experience. Worth a try if you’re in the area but I don’t think I would go out of my way to specifically come here.

Been here twice with a large group. Seating accommodation is usually really fast and efficient. the service is pretty good — nothing particularly outstanding or awful about it. Their rolls are all very flavorful and delicious, but mainly because it’s often drowned in sauces. Their serving sizes are pretty huge for a sushi place, and will fill you up for sure. Not the freshest quality of all time, but passable. Their lobster special roll is heaven though. Parking available in rear.

Very good sushi. Not great. Excellent value. Friendly service. Nice ambiance. A neighborhood feel. They seem to know their customers. Large sushi bar and two flatscreens that usually have a ball game on. My biggest criticism. They use styrofoam for takeout. Bad! Apparently they missed the memo on the importance of the environment. Does Pasadena even allow this? Anyway, I’d return.

I ordered the teriyaki chicken and tempura the chicken was spoiled undercooked in generally the food was cold after a few hours at home I had diarrhea for two days straight. I reported this Gin sushi restaurant to the health department for a full inspection of the kitchen and the improper storage of meat in there walk-ins I’m posting this review and recommend that you do not eat at this restaurant eat at your own risk poison.

This is an enjoyable sushi spot: Freshness: 3 Selection: 4 Portion size: 5 Friendliness: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Value: 4 Come here if you are hungry. Their combination plates are larger than a manhole cover. Portions are bountiful. They don’t skimp on the fish in their sushi either. The selection of sushi and rolls is decent. I wished the quality and freshness of the sushi was a notch higher. But I really enjoyed the taste of the mackerel… buttery and slightly tangy. This is the kind of place where sauces are used judiciously to cover a less than desirable level of quality. But also dinner will not break the bank.

Prices have gone up since the last time I came. I saw a completely new serving staff. Very friendly service. They updated the logo on the outside. Hot Tea — $ 1 — The tea pot is really cute. I want one of these at my house. Basic green tea but it was great for a chilly winter night. You can share it with the table for this price. Great deal. Spicy Salmon Sashimi — $ 10.75 — Went up from $ 10.25. Taste and portion are the same. BSCR — $ 9.95 — Went up from $ 8.95. Tastes the same but the portion shrunk by a third. Salmon, Tempura, CA Roll Dinner — $ 14.95 — Huge dinner combo. Salmon was actually cooked well, not over cooked or dry. Tempura has a good mix of shrimp and veggies, you get 3 shrimp. Comes with your basic CA Roll and salad.

A consistent, quality, fast, and affordable sushi place in Pasadena! I go here pretty often and it’s definitely one of my go to places in the area. I’ve gone for both lunch and dinner and really enjoy both! For lunch I usually get the two item lunch combos: SPICYTUNAROLL — this is a staple for me everytime I come here — always good, also my favorite simple roll TERIYAKISALMON — I would ask for sauce on the side so they don’t drench your salmon in sauce — super good! Salmon cooked really well SESAMECHICKEN — kind of like a popcorn chicken type dish — comes with a tangy sauce on the side SHRIMP&VEGETABLETEMPURA — come with 2 shrimps and a variety of vegetables — super good! A little on the oily side since everything is fried For dinner I order rolls and specialty rolls from the sheet that can be written on and edited! My all time favorite rolls are: CHERRYBLOSSOMROLL — it’s basically a spicy tuna roll wrapped in salmon sashimi — I like that it has more fish than rice which is definitely a selling point for me! EEL(UNAGI) ROLLWITHAVOCADO — I’m biased because I already love eel — but this is the roll I will always order even if I’m trying new rolls just so I know I’ll have something that will for sure satisfy me! One annoying thing that happens mainly at lunch recently is that they won’t accept cards if your total isn’t $ 10 per person which makes paying a little difficult. All in all this place is a solid sushi place that I will continue to be a customer at!

I have never been a fan of Gin Sushi, I usually dread it when someone suggests it for lunch or dinner. Usually everything is covered in way too much eel sauce. The wait for 9 for dinner on a Saturday night wasn’t too long. I ordered the salmon nigiri, California hand roll, B.S.C.R.(baked scallop California roll, as well as the beef udon. The salmon itself was ok, decent size but it could be cut better. The rice from the hand roll was really mushy and didn’t have the taste you’d expect sushi rice to have. Scallops from the B.S.C.R. were overcooked but at least you get a lot of them. Udon is not something I ordered regularly from a sushi restaurant, but I had a weird craving for it. Even before ordering it I knew i would regret it. The udon wasn’t al dente and was too soft. The broth that it’s served in isn’t too bad, but there were way too much onions. Most of the time service is pretty bad, but today’s was pretty excellent. Average prices and portions.

Hands down the best sushi in the SGV! A friend brought my husband and I here about three years ago. We have been hooked ever since. The staff is wonderful. The sushi chef’s are fantastic. We usually sit at the bar and chit chat with the chef’s. They are super clean. These guys are super talented. They are super clean too. I highly recommend it. Enjoy!!!

By far the best sushi spot I’ve ever been to. Only reason why it’s not a full 5 star is because the last time I was here on a weekend, our server was horrible and rude. To the point where I did not come back here for months. But now that I am Back today for lunch, all of our orders were on point! Very generous with the size of the rolls, the food is very fresh and must have been delivered this morning. I highly recommend the lobster special roll, a must have if you are a sushi lover.

Came here around 8:30 Friday night. Met a friend there so she already put her name down and by the time I got there I basically got seated right away.(Parking lot was a little crazy, Asian style parking, but we found probably the last spot right away). I ordered the tonkatsu appetizer which I thought was delicious. Probably because it was pretty thoroughly deep fried. Our table also ordered sushi. They thought the salmon was much better than the seared albacore. But approved of both. I was saving my stomach for the tempura green tea ice cream though! I was excited when it came out because it looked huge. Sad to say I was a little disappointed. The outside tempura deep fried goodness and ice cream was yummy. Buut in between those two layers was some kind of cake layer. I know I know, what kind of monster doesn’t like cake. I normally do, just not with my tempura ice cream. My sister liked the cake part though. So I’m glad to say I’d be coming back!
