Bottom Line: Good for home décor fabrics and some other fabrics.
Overall, I find the fabric selection to be better here than at Jo-Ann’s particularly when it comes to decorator fabrics. I also like that they have some cute home décor.
The store is big so it might take some effort to find someone to help you but overall, the staff is helpful.
If you are looking for craft supplies I recommend going to Michael’s up the road a bit since the focus here is fabric, sewing notions and such.

Worst fabric store ever. I tried for a week to special order fabric. They have my $ 200 but no one can confirm that the order has been placed. I get excuse after excuse. I will never purchase anything there again. Shameful way to run a business.

I went to Hancock Fabrics yesterday for the very first time to ultimately have a HORRIBLE experience.
Being new to the store, I went looking for someone who worked there. I found two women together talking so I asked them for help. They «pointed» me toward the back corner of the store, but never made the attempt to escort me there or explain exactly what I was looking for, they then just went back to their conversation. When I still was not able to find what I was looking for, so I asked one of them again and the response I got was «I’m not going to help you… I am off.» I found that to be very rude and disappointing since most craft/​fabric stores I have been in have always had really pleasant and helpful customer service.
When I finally found what I needed the woman I was able to get to help me was not capable to answer any questions about the product, nor was she able to make suggestions as to what I should use for my particular project. I finally picked the fabric I thought would be best and I went up to the counter to have it cut. I was then told that the counter I was at was closed and I had to go to the one in the front of the store to find yet another woman. When I got up there she was not at the counter, so I waited for a couple minutes before I finally went looking for her. She was very nice, but seemed confused with the dimensions that I had given her to cut. In the end I ended up with twice the amount I needed, but by this time I was ready to just be out of this place so I took what she gave me.
I went up to the cash register to find no one up there as well. I waited for a few minutes until another customer in the store told me I had to ring the bell on the counter to get someone to come check me out so I could pay. Apparently if the customer knows the drill then this is a common occurrence.
I understand it is a small store and probably family owned, but after dealing with 4 women all who seemed unknowledgeable and too bothered to be helpful, I will not be going back. I will drive the extra distance to Severna Park to go to Joann Fabrics instead where I have always had the best service.

I can’t sew but I am trying. I walked into this store and could not believe how inexpensive the fabrics were and how wonderfully helpful that the ladies who work here are. I saw several men in this store buying upholstery materials too. Having been fleeced at Calico Corners, this is now my store of choice. For ¼ of Calico Corners sale prices, I bought fabric I loved. With the fabric came free advice on how to make my project, as well as an invitation to a free sewing class.

Being a pretty ‘crafty’ person, I’m occasionally in need of a place that has all that my projects require. This is the place. I’ve never walked in here for a specific fabric and not found it. Just a few weeks ago I came in here for some black fur and not only found exactly what I needed, but when I went to pay for it it was half off what it said it was, pleasant surprise.
The women who work here are extremely helpful and knowlegable and I never have to wait to have my fabric cut. They have wonderful little classes that teach various crafts and sewing machine operation, and a fabulous variety of patterns from a large selection of catalogues.

Halloween costume accessorizing led me here this weekend. I was pleasantly surprised at how helpful everyone was. The abundant remnant tables alone would be reason to come back here. I scored two yards of high quality pleather for $ 4.25.
