Love this place. Great happy hour menu and prices. Love their sushi. Love the crab salad. Usually pretty quick to be seated. We eat here at least once a month.

Ichibon has two sections the one that is a sit down and order with a waiter and then there is a side that will cook your food right in front of you and give you a fun show while doing so. The downfall to sitting in the section where they do that is because if you don’t have a big party(I’m thinking that would be about 10 to fill one half of the table, it will be you and your date you want to impress after homecoming and then a lot of strangers sitting everyone else. However this food seems to be a lot more fresh and better than the other side. My parents and I went to the sit down and order side recently and it was AWFUL! The chicken meat was not fresh or good. My mom an I got the teriyaki chicken and had to spit out multiple times. The teriyaki chicken was dry, some pieces were fatty, and some pieces at the muscle that we couldn’t chew through.

Come here almost every Wednesday night for dollar sushi. The sushi is great and is decently priced. Their appetizers are fantastic & if they are fried appetizers they always come out nice and hot. I love sitting at the sushi bar when we go. The guys behind the bar are great and it is always fun watching them make the sushi. The fried sushi rolls are amazing(Kingfish Roll is a must try). The staff is really friendly and our waiters are always really great and attentive. We never have to wait long for service. There is a little wait for the food when it is a busy night but it is definitely worth the wait! This place is a must try for sushi lovers!

Ichibon is usually consistent with their quality of sushi. I don’t really know of anything that makes this place stand out, but I have never gotten sick from their food so it’s a win! The last time my boyfriend and I went there, we made the decision to order this huge platter called«the boat» which is like 50 bucks and it’s basically a huge bento box, you get chicken teriyaki and tempura vegetables and a bunch of stuff. I remember that some of the tempura was soggy but for the most point we ate way too much! I will go back some day and eat normal portions.

Ask for Jessica she was great and fun… But the sushi bar Not very sociable. Walked in and was greated but when I set down the sushi bar was not so nice… Food was great we had miso soup and tiger eyes on the happy hour menu from 3 to 7pm everyday.

My first time here… relied on recommendations from all that posted. I tried both the Tokyo night roll and Snow Crab Roll… and liked the Tokyo night roll better. I’m glad I tried this place out. Good food and great service.

We went for Sushi Happy Hour and got a pretty good little spread for $ 15. Decent sushi, not as good as Little Tokyo down the way, but still well worth the great HH prices!

As a self-proclaimed sushi addict, this has to be my favorite sushi spot in Pasadena. Unlike previous reviewers, I have never had bad service or had to wait to be seated. I can’t vouch for how hibachi service/food is either as I get sushi all the time. As far as sushi quality goes, it’s good. It takes a few visits to realize which rolls you like, and which ones aren’t your cup of tea. I found my favorites to be the Jalapeño roll, Firecracker roll, Shaggy Dog, and the Tokyo Night roll. I wanted to love the Mona Lisa roll because it’s a great concept(cucumber rolled instead of sticky rice), but it was lacking in flavor. I’d also like to note how delicious their house salad and appetizers are. The spicy crab salad will make your toes curl, it’s amazing. Prices are… pricey, but they have a great happy hour special every day(holidays excluded) that takes the pressure off your wallet.

The service was lacking a bit, we had to wait over 15 minute to be seen and on top of that waited 40 minutes for our food to come out. Once the food came out, it was pretty decent. They gave us complimentary dessert for being patient. Overall it was just okay.

Brother and I arrived midday, were seated and waited 10 minutes for a waiter. A couple arrived just at the ten minute mark and were greeted by name by the waiter and their drink orders were taken. We got up to leave, but I stopped at the hostess and explained to her what happened, heard them laughing as the door closed behind us. Its a shame, didn’t even get to try the food and their happy hour menu looked amazing.

My wife and I love this place, and in my humble opinion — is one of the(if not the best) restaurant in Pasadena. I’ve never had bad service there — no snotty high school kids who would rather be texting or goofing off with their friends instead of providing service(you hear me Chili’s and Applebees?). No, the waiters and waitresses are always polite and professional, and the food is always fresh and top notch. Our favorites are the snow crab roll and the various hand rolls, but never had anything there that I didn’t like. My wife and I always sit at the bar, and the nights when Gina is working is extra special. Gina is a hoot and one of the best servers in town — always polite and funny, and just an all around friendly person. For the sushi purists, you might do better at Miyakos or Azuma in Houston. But if you want sonething healthy and to be treated like a welcome customer and not a pest, there is no place better in Pasadena.

Not impressed, came here for lunch and went to the regular side to order off the menu. I ordered a California roll. I have had them at several other restaurants. This one had no flavor at all. We had poor service and couldn’t understand our waiter at all. We will not be going back.

I came here on a business trip for lunch. Decided to dine at the bar. Kim was my server. Happy and very knowledgable about their selection. She suggested few items after asking several questions about my food preferences. Ideal and fantastic. I ordered snow crab roll. Five stars. Comparing to Little Tokyo, which was two stars from service to food, this place is to die for. My second and third course were as good. Anyone can experience what i did. U wont regret.

I used to love this place, it’s still pretty good though to pales in comparison to places like Benihana. When we went tonight we noticed they started to skimp on the crab that comes in the salad before the meal. For the amount of money you pay, they should give you a little more. Also, the service of the waitstaff is rude and uncaring. The hibachi chefs are entertaining though. It’s definitely far lower quality for only a slightly smaller price than other hibachis. I do reccomend the dollar sushi wednesdays tho.

Food & show was amazing for Tuesday night! BUT!!! The manager or waitress who ever she was. I will get a name later. Was all upset about us coming in an hour before they closed to someone on the phone loud enough for us to hear. So sad after I tipped them 20% and we order quiet a few things. Never going back to that location!!! We spent over $ 100 dollars in food & drinks!

Awesome place for friend or family dinners it’s awesome when they cook in front of you I recommend hands down good service price us at level with food. Favorites for me are the teriyaki salmon, teriyaki steak and chicken I always upgrade my steamed rice to fried rice. If it’s someone’s bday let them know they’ll sing and get them a fried ice cream.
