Jamz Dance Center

My son is a student here and absolutely loves it. I’ve taught dance myself for a number of years in many studios and universities throughout the Baltimore area and I have to say this is by far the most impressive facility around. The staff is great. They go above an beyond to not only welcome you but ensure you’re getting the best instruction possible. They’re one of few studios that also bring in top talents for workshops that make it possible for students to get a variety of instructors. This place is worth checking out! Highly recommended.

My daughter took 2 years of dance classes here. Since she was not on the competition teams, she did not get the instruction or attention necessary to improve her skills. Once we switched studios, it was amazing the instruction she received. The new studio noted something she was doing wrong with her leaps and with minimal instruction her leaps improved immediately. This was her first night at the new studio! Why was this issue never pointed out at Jamz and noted immediately at another studio??? Probably because they only notice their competition team students. Where the competition team end of year performances were 3 – 4 minutes long, students in regular intermediate or advanced dance classes performed pieces that were about 1 – 2 minutes long. I see a problem here. At the beginning of year 2 with Jamz, there were not enough students in an upper level class. They attempted to tell us they were «combining» classes due to low student numbers. What they were actually doing was moving my daughter into a lower level class and changing the class name! This was purely an economic move on their part (they didn’t want to lose that monthly class payment if they canceled altogether) and had nothing to do with providing my daughter with instruction she needed at her level. My daughter is much happier at the new studio. She receives top notch instruction and sees improvement in her dance ability after every class. If your looking for a competition dance team or even a hip hop class, no doubt, Jamz is fantastic. If your looking for more traditional dance classes (ballet, lyrical, jazz) for your child, consider an alternative studio.
