Jimmy Changas

Really great food, the green dip they serve is wonderful. Absolutely addictive. I’m not sure what all is in it it taste as though it may have tomatillos, avocado, sour cream. Whatever it is it’s wonderful and I would love to have the recipe I have had other green sauces at Ninfas and Casa Olé but Jimmy Changas is by far the best I’ve eaten.

Please fix the playground, my son loves it there and being two his favorite part is the slide that’s missing… For a long time now.

Good service, and good food ! What more do you need ! There was a 10 minute wait but they text you asap when a table is ready. The severs come by every often to make sure your settled. There’s a play ground for kids and a beautiful small waterfall for some cute pictures. Margaritas are amazing

I enjoy coming to Jimmy Changas every single time. I can’t say I’ve ever had a bad experience in the several times that I have come here. The waitresses and waiters are all polite and are there for any and all of your needs. The food is great. I’ve had multiple entrees and appetizers and they were all very good. The décor of the place is nice. I recommend this place if you’re ever in the Deer Park area.

I love this place, but I looked online on Google, Unilocal and one other site to look up their hours. I called in at 9:24 to place a small to go order for myself and a girl answered the phone and said that they closed at 9:15… I always leave a tip in the to go room, but I guess they missed out this time. …and poor service if she lied and said they were already closed.

Lindi, the Community Relations Coordinator from the Gringos restaurant chain contacted me directly after my review. Her professionalism, compassion and genuine concern to continually improve the chain’s customer service and overall food quality earned the chain another star.
It’s difficult to keep consistent quality with these massive chain restaurants without completely losing the freshness of the product. My expectations are always low when I frequent these places, but it’s a nice assurance to be aware this particular restaurant chain isn’t arrogant and truly wants growth with their company based on customer satisfaction.

With all the Tex-​Mex restos out there going to Tex-​Mex resto again and again is not so easy, but with Jimmy Changas, I’ll make an exception and put my gastronomic exploring tendencies on hold. The atmosphere is always great here and you are sure to find a location if you happen to be in any major suburb of Houston. I’ve come to be fond of the Dirty Tostadas, which have a generous portion of shredded romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro and avocado. Beneath this top layer, there is a nice heap of pulled pork. Be careful not to eat too many chips and salsa; you’ll be surprised how quick you can down them and potentially spoil your main course!

Favorite Mexican restaurant! The chips and queso is different from any other restaurant. And my favorite is their frozen drinks. With the chunky monkey at the top of the list.

I was visiting family in the area but I was a bit early, so I thought I would stop by for some brunch. Now I’ve been to the Katy location (which set the bar very high in my opinion) and they are awesome. Whether or not this location can meet or beat them was yet to be seen!
I got there just before the lunch time rush and I was greeted with a warm smile by the hostess and I was promptly seated at a booth. I already knew what I wanted to order (fish tacos). My server’s name was Kylee and we were talking about foods, recipes and standards that both their restaurant and the one in Katy aim for. From what I was hearing it sounded like I was in for some good stuff. She was an amazing waitress! I also asked her if I could buy the Jimmy Changas shirt that says «Live every day like it’s Taco Tuesday!» but they were sold out. I was really bummed out about it.
The chips n salsa were hot n fresh, both salsas were perfect! It took a lot of will power to not eat the whole bowl because they are so addicting. My tacos were out in no time and everything looked delicious! Nice hefty fillets of fish, perfectly grilled and juicy inside with just the right amount of seasonings. I LOVED the side slices of fresh guacamole and the mango pico de gallo. As I was eating my meal I could see the crowd getting their food very quickly so I could tell this place runs like a well oiled machine that keeps customers happy.
I debated whether or not to get their famous coffee but I was already on my way to Catalina Coffee in town so I passed on it.
The service and the food was impeccable. Thank you for a great dining experience!

I would give this place 3 ½ stars. I know everyone likes this place. I used to love it. It seems to me everything has changed a little. The fajitas taste different. The flour tortillas taste different. To me the food is ok, service is ok. The last 2 times I’ve gone my server has not been great. Personally prefer Johnny tamales and my #1 pick is always Lupe Tortillas. If it wasn’t too far I would’ve gone there instead.

The location is beautiful. There kitchen is HUGE. Loved the food. I got the chile relleno. It’s huge and so filling. I also got a strawberry margarita. So yummy. Great place to go for special occasions.

I’ve been here a few times and haven’t been disappointed yet… friendly, prompt, and accurate service in spite of an always busy and full restaurant. The food is always hot and tasty, and your glass is never empty. Today I enjoyed the Juanita Plate and my sister loved the Chile Relleno Plate, both are highly recommended. If you’re looking for good Tex-​Mex food, this is a great option. Bring the whole family because the kiddo’s will enjoy the food and fountain and play area outside.

We used to drive by here and wonder why it’s always so packed. Then we discovered they have a playground! The drawback is that it’s outside so thus unappealing during anytime but perfect weather.
We’ve always had excellent service. But, I’m not that crazy about the food. I prefer Chuy’s.

Always great food and great service! The sampler was so delicious, wings taste so unique. Beef fajitas were tender and juicy as was the chicken. Food was served promptly and my kids were very satisfied.
My only complain is that the hostess in the front aren’t always that great! You won’t ever be greeted with a smile, more like I need this job to pay my bills :/

We were so disappointed. Our waitress Bree was very good otherwise I would only give the review 2 stars. Though it was a busy Sunday afternoon Bree was the highlight along with the ice cream. Don’t leave without having a cone. Definitely not the cheap ice milk but real soft serve ice cream.
We each ordered the Bad Daddy Chimichanga. The beef was okay but not flavored. The tortilla dough was too thick. You needed a steak knife to cut it which was not provided.
As an appetizer we had the cheese dip. This was a warm thick and tasty white cheese dip which everyone liked. The chips were good as well as the red and green sauces.
The main dishes were disappointing for each of the 4 adults.
We will not be returning.

Just don’t like this place, the food is not that great. I don’t like the margaritas at all. The servers are usually not friendly. Worst part is the wait; you wait to get a table, you wait for the drinks, your wait to order, and you wait and wait for your food. Even worse is waiting for food that is not that good.
Probably won’t return and I will NOT recommend.

We went to dinner with some friends on 09÷26÷2015… To my surprise the food and the service was outstanding ., the green salsa is yummy and the shrimp diablo was excellent… the 2 frozen margaritas were tasty.
Will visit again …

I was not impressed.
The black beans tasted canned.
The breading on the fried avocado tasted like a donut. And the amount of cheese inside was ridiculous! Too much cheese!
I will give this another try sometime.

Jimmy Changas is a place that needs to be available all over Texas! This place has soooo much to offer and the service is fantastic! We had a last minute large party lunch and Jimmy Changas accommodated us (20+) in a flash on a Sunday! The interior is polished and easy on the eyes, you can tell they spent a lot of mula on this restaurant!
We were quickly seated and served hot tortilla chips with their amazing creamy green salsa and regular salsa. This place is Tex-​Mex all the way and the prices are nice on the wallet. I had my first chimichanga here and the rotisserie chicken filling was a dream! The charro beans were my absolute favorite with large chunks of meat and the best broth ever.
This place is kid friendly too with a playground and free yummy soft serve ice cream. Service was completely on point and our server (Andrew…I think) was always making sure we had everything we needed.

The food was pretty good, I got the rio grande plate and my boyfriend got a chimichanga.
I ordered a margarita and my boyfriend ordered a beer with a couple of waters. The margarita and beer come in these regular glasses, but when you charge 8 dollars for a margarita, you expect a little more than 12 ounces… And we never received our waters.
The service was meh. The waitress came and took our orders and then disappeared… Another guy brought us our food. After we were done eating we waited about 10 minutes for her to come back around again to get us our check.
The free ice cream was good though!
If we do go back, we won’t order any alcohol and hopefully will get better service.
