As a long time diner here they have been hit or miss over the years but lately they have been excellent. The seasonal menu adds some really nice dishes that are not your typical diner fare. I had the glazed salmon and it was perfectly cooked and delicious.

Nice local place. Service was good and the staff was friendly. I did like the deep fried jalapeños on my pepper jack cheese chicken sandwich. It was a nice twist. I also liked that this place was an old fire house. It gave it a unique feel.

Delicious food, cute atmosphere. Got the she crab soup as an appetizer and the Black and Green Po Boy with gulf shrimp and fried green tomatoes(my new obsession), all very satisfying. Nice service, great food, location on a cute little street. GPS is helpful, but if you don’t have it you have to go toward the end of the street on the right.

Best steaks in downtown Pascagoula! There are 3 entrances to this place(restaurant, bar, back). Walking in the restaurant side, you are greeted by a friendly hostess. The main dining area looks small enough for multiple small groups of 2’s &4’s. They can combine the tables if needed. The bar side is called, «The Engine Room». With a full stock of alcohol and spirits to keep you happy. The bar side also have dining tables & booths to enjoy your meals if you choose to order your food there. The backroom is like a banquet room for larger groups. Some reserved events are held there. The men’s restroom needs some work /attention, in my opinion. This is the reason why I’m giving this place 4 stars. Because there was some kind of oily slime on the sink faucet that was NOT cool. The staff here are all super nice, energetic and attentive to any and all my questions and concerns. My drink never went below half cup. That’s a BIG plus in my book. My waitress was so awesome that I folded a heart out of a dollar and gave it to her as a tip on top of my 50% tip. The food here are most excellent! Traditional American cuisines from steaks, sandwiches to finger food. I ordered their«New York Strip» special & their«seafood stuffed mushrooms». The Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms, again, is the best I had by far. 6 pieces came out hot right out of the oven. It was awesome! The New York Strip is the best I had within walking distance in downtown Pascagoula. With someone without a car to go elsewhere, this place is «the place» to go when you’re craving a piece of steak. The steak was cooked to my liking. I asked to have it cooked medium and my hat goes off to the chief. I do have to comment that the Caesar salad, even though the toppings of tomatoes, cucumbers, croutons and hard boiled eggs are delicious and on point, the lettuce did not tasted like it was prepared but more like pre packaged. All and all, if you’re looking for a nice place to relax dine and drink. I highly recommend this place.

It’s kind of like an upscale Applebee’s or the like. Cool old firehouse. My boss certainly loves it.

My cousin had her company holiday party here, so we thought it would be a good place to catch dinner while on vacation here. Little did I know I was about to have one of the best meals I’ve ever tasted. I started out with a bowl of creamy decadent she-crab soup and fresh hot rolls and salad. Then my mom & I both got the daily special which was a big juicy porterhouse pork chop with sweet & tangy bacon honey mustard sauce and white mac’ n cheese(also with bacon= win). Kinda hard to find this location without GPS, especially in the dark. Once inside, the atmosphere was quiet & laid-back, set in a local landmark– a building from the 1920’s that once was the local Fire Station and the City Hall.

Since we had been going from our first visit they changed the menu and sometimes they don’t pay attention to what is on it themselves, your not always getting what it says as much as I guess what they have on hand, want to give you. Our very first visit was great! Only on a weekday, they cater and are closed on weekends. I really liked their gumbo but is inconsistent, have gotten it every time since that first visit, been different each time. I had the, they call it Robert’s bread now, which at other places I’ve had it, it’s suppose to be loaded craw-fish bread. Theirs was some tomato paste topped bread with melted cheese and not even a 1 craw-fish on it, was disappointed and sent it back. Had a club salad on my last visit and did not get everything on it that was listed on the menu, we will not be back anytime soon. Service was OK and in time if I hear they start doing better by the food may visit again. Is out of the way to go to and as it has history it also has the local loiters at the bar, adult enjoyment atmoshpere/ambiance. None of our visits seen anyone with their kids, something i thought should be noted.

For outsiders this place was a bit hard to find since it is buried back off the main road. Eventually you will find it. That is about the worst thing that can be said about this place — everything else they do once you get inside is pretty perfect. I had Unilocaled it in advance and knew it was a safe pick for the evening meal. I checked the menu and already knew what I wanted based on the photos they provide on their website(an excellent touch b-t-dubs.) I was slightly disappointed my advanced research on the $ 10 happy hour bucket of beers and the«new behind the bar» Abita beers had been for naught. However they did have my desired dinner in stock, so my googlin’ and Unilocalin’ had had some legitimate business purpose behind it at the end of the day. This is a typical Southern, neighborhood, charming kind of restaurant. It has history. It has that«slow down and appreciate life» atmosphere. It is not loud and boisterous and impossible to focus in. Even though it has a bar and serves the devil’s elixirs, it is still a family-friendly neighborhood restaurant at heart. I liked that. Even though I was mostly here for the devil’s elixirs and I am an outsider. The waitress was super friendly. And if she couldn’t answer a question she hurried off to get an answer. She had to break the bad news that the $ 10 bucket of beer no longer existed, or at least tonight and for us. And she had to break the bad news that the Abita brews were disproportionately priced for what they cost to pick up back at Disco Kroger in Houston. But they still did have a Wild Blue 8% ABV beer for $ 1.50 and a Wild Raspberry 8% ABV beer for $ 1.50 as well for happy hour. So yeah, awesome price. The beers tasted more like wine coolers than beers, but they were 8% and empty stomach and all that, so it fulfilled its purpose. Fried pickles: $ 4.25 for a decently sized portion for two people to split. There were leftovers behind. Not sure that is a good thing or a bad thing, or a large portion, but it was an enjoyable fried pickle experience. Black & Bleu salad: $ 10.75 for a salad so large I could not finish it. Unlike my lunch at Azteca’s the salad actually was mostly lettuce which is an important component of a salad I find. The candied pecans were delish. The blackened steak was not kidding about how blackened it was, might scale it back a bit. The blue cheese dressing was one of the highlights besides the pecans. And the cucumber and tomato were important parts of the larger picture. Recommended if you are a traveler passing through town, or if you’re a local checking out Unilocal to try something you have heard about but have not yet given it a try yet. Try it.

This is a local favorite but I’m not really sure why. When I eat here I have the BBQ pork sandwich which is wonderful. I’ve had the crab bisque which was gross and have also had the red pepper gouda soup which tasted alot like tomato sauce from a jar. The service is ok. If it wasn’t for the pork sandwich I wouldn’t bother.

After spending summer 2010 working in Pascagoula I frequented Scrantons several times since it was next door to our office. Excellent restaurant with a variety of items. I haven’t had one meal I didn’t like! The lunch specials are great and reasonably priced. The staff is extremely friendly and the service is fast! One of the few reasons to stop by in P-goula!

Ate here for lunch today. Been meaning to try it, but they are closed on the weekends… don’t quite comprehend that but it is Pascagoula. Scranton’s is named after the city by the same name that merged with three other cities in 1912 after a Chicago~style fire wiped out most of the city infrastructure. Fortunately, the city hall survived and is now the current establishment. For lunch I had the crab cakes with a side of cole slaw. The slaw had a good balance between the tanginess of the sour cream and a slight bite to the cabbage. I was surprised by the size of the two crab cakes. They were more like crab ‘cupcakes’. I suppose they were lunch sized if you want to be generous. Based on my other experiences on the coast, however, these were diminutive. To be fair though, I did not end up having enough room to finish my turtle cheesecake. Overall experience was good. Cheesecake was a bit dry, and I’m always suspicious of non~homemade desserts(not quite sure of the identity here). I will consider tagging on another star if subsequent visits turn out better. My partner’s gumbo and chicken salad was apparently phenomenal.

We ended up eating at Scranton’s twice during our recent visit to MS. We were very satisfied both times. My husband and I had lunch here one day. We were excited to order the deep fried pickles since our favorite local place that served these closed several months ago and we’d been having a collective hankerin’ for some. Scranton’s version did not disappoint. My husband ordered the Atlantic Salmon Sandwich. The piece of fish was HUGE, especially considering the very reasonable price at which it was offered. He reports it was quite delish. I had the Blackened Chicken Sandwich, which was just about the best blackened anything this northern girl has ever had.(Too often, folks seem to think«blackened» has to mean«so hot you can hardly taste it»; Scranton’s version, on the other hand and while certainly packing a punch, focused more on the overall spice and not just the heat.) We came back for dinner a couple of days later, this time accompanied by my husband’s(adult) daughter. We all ordered entrée salads that were full of fresh, crispy vegetables and topped with various tasty meats. Our server was super friendly and kept checking in on us(without making us in any way feel rushed) while we sat gabbing away long after we’d finished our meals. Oh, did I mention the really cute décor at Scranton’s and the restaurant’s overall homey and comfortable feel? We very much enjoyed both our visits to Scranton’s and will definitely return the next time we are in MS.

In old firehouse in Pascagoula. Excellent food. Tried them for both lunch and dinner. What first got my attention was the quality of the lunch appetizer crabcakes. My sister makes the best crabcakes. Scranton’s crabcakes are in the same exalted class. Loved the little pieces of green, red and yellow bell peppers in them. Good service; nice local interest atmosphere.

I found this place on Unilocal and went there today. The restraunt is in downtown Pascagoula, really cute little setup. The service & food were great! Between the three of us that went, we ordered red beans and rice, the bacon cheeseburger, and a shrimp poboy, all were really good and there was plenty of it. We got the food within 5 minutes of ordering. Very satisfied and still full :)
