I can only comment from being a prospective renter. This company took FOREVER, it was only after I sent an email to prompt them, that I heard a reply. I spent $$, my time and effort applying for a listing. We have a cat and found one listing with«Pets considered», hence my application. Moxie’s definition of ‘pets’ is ‘small dog’. Their lack of clarification and professionalism is worrying… Find another property managers.

Moxie handles my HOA dues. They are unorganized and quite slow at processing payments. It has been a month and a half since I sent out the last payment and they have not cashed it. They offered online payments but have since stopped it and have not restarted. This is a common occurrence with them. It’s 2015, I shouldn’t have to worry about something so simple as cashing a check promptly.

We were moving from out of state and in the market to rent a home in AG. We found a place online that looked suitable, offered by Moxie. I had my husband look at the house, and called the office about it and was invited to apply. I spent $ 50 for the application fee for my husband and I and an hour of time to fill out the online application. Cue crickets chirping… for weeks on end… not a single response. Lucky for us we found a great home the same week we applied to Moxie through California West(highly recommend them btw). I called Moxie about the $ 50 they took for nothing and got a woman on the phone. She said they had 6 applications and they submit them all to the owner and the owner chooses the best one. Ok fine but at least have the courtesy to respond with a call or email to let us know… I would avoid this company — at least call and get a response of how many other applications are in before you apply because I think they just get your application money and run. Big fat zero stars for Moxie if I could, one star is too many.

I have been renting from Moxie for several months and have treated extremely well, in a very professional way by all their staff, the 4 star is due to their outside hired help choices, the rental agency and especially Christy are extremely kind, professional and appropriate. I am still pleased with my decision to rent from them.

We were renting from another company before Moxie took over. The level of unprofessionalism from this company was evident immediately. Upon taking over this property(small apartment building) there was no introduction to their company, we only had the phone number thanks to the previous company giving a heads up. Our apartment started having an outrageous ant problem, ants were coming in through bathroom vents and from the walls and when I called I was greeted very rudely. When I asked for them to come spray the lady got very rude and told me that was not their job. We had called several times to address this issue as it is their job to spray for infestations. Our water would randomly be shut off without any notification from the company as there was construction going on. When the construction started they started closing off parking, I had been out of town. When I returned, there was no notice in the mailbox or on our door stating that we would need to move our cars, I only found out because there was construction tape around my car and a note on the front windshield warning that they were going to tow if not moved. When I called to ask why they had not contacted me as my car was registered on the lease, they had a very rude reply about how luckily it did not get towed so I had no reason to be upset. After moving out, it took 3 months for them to return our security deposit. One time I was to pick up the deposit check on a date and time they had said to pick it up, when I showed up she said she was about to call me(the check was suppose to have arrived 3 hours before I had showed up) to let me know it was not there. This was not the first time they had failed to call us to update us on the whereabouts of this check. When I had called once to ask for the status of the check, my husband unknowingly had called at the same time and was talking to someone else in the office when the lady on the phone with me told me I needed to hang up and just talk to my husband. I have never been treated so rudely as a renter and we have been renting for many years. I will never use this company again and do not recommend!

We were very interested in renting a property from this company. Unfortunately it was like pulling teeth to get a return phone call or email, and of course they are not open on the weekends when people who have jobs are available to look for a new house. Things went from bad to worse when we tried to apply. When I finally got someone on the phone, we learned that the house that has been on the market for 45 days suddenly had multiple offers this weekend. We were invited to apply for a $ 25 fee. I got halfway through the application when I learned it would be ANOTHER $ 25 for my wife to apply. So they want $ 50 for a chance to apply to a house that has a dubious level of competition suddenly? No house is worth putting up with a company that cannot perform basic services.
