The store itself has great products. But unfortunately I will never shop here again. We went into the store and purchased a sign. We specifically asked the person working there if we were able to return the item if it didn’t fit where we want to display it in our home. She said returning it would be no problem as long as I had a receipt! The next day we took the sign back and we were told we could have store credit. I informed the employee that we were told we could return it as long as we had a receipt. She called the owner and the owner said«no, only store credit.» I choose to come back the next day and talk to the owner directly. The owner informed me that I was told I could return it and get store credit. She also informed me that it is my responsibility to know their return policy and I could have read the small sign posted on the wall. She even said it is posted on the receipt that all sales are final. I was shocked by her rudeness and asked her if she was going to honor what her employee told me. She said«No. I was told I could return it but that didn’t mean I would get my money back. Not even Target and Walmart have to explain their store policy to every customer.» Living in this small town, I am truly appalled that someone as rude as her could stay in business. I have never gone into a store and gotten into an argument with the store owner. I will never step foot in this place again.

I’m a huge fan and collector of the style of items carried in the Cottage. However, everything in her store is extremely over priced. A lot of her DIY stuff is over priced. Every time I’ve walked in, the owner has been grumpy and snippy. Doesn’t even acknowledge you when you walk in. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

I called to buy a piece of furniture I had seen the previous day in store. It’s fairly normal for antique furniture to offer some discount if there is a bad scratch or other«ding»(my house is all antiques, i do this regularly). When I called to ask if there was any discount or if the seller was willing to fix the scrape the women on the phone was extremely rude, and felt the need to explain that it was an antique(because I obviously was trying to shop in pottery barn and had no clue). This women was so rude and condescending I decided the beautiful piece wasn’t worth giving her any business. Also just a note, I saw the exact same pine piece at reminants for 100 dollars less and in perfect shape,(just passed it up so I was excited to see this one).

I recently moved to Paso Robles and stumbled upon this store. They are so nice and the items they sell — used and new — are amazing. Such great taste and the store is so inviting and welcoming. You just feel good when walking in there. The prices are great also — very affordable. I would HIGHLY recommend shopping there. Check out the Christmas décor now — so beautiful.(Every holiday is decorated so beautifully).

The Cottage is a very special store to me. I have been a huge fan of Sandi and her talents for over 30 years. I always knew she would find a way to share it with others and to make it a charming experience for all of us to enjoy. I have watched her combine her wonderful talents with her flair for art. Her ability to turn a old treasure in to a new found treasure and make it become a beautiful piece of art whether it was a old piece of furniture or a window display for any given holiday has amazed me for years… The storefront is always a welcoming warm surprise for me as I pull up in front of her very cute neat, shiny cottage windows trimmed with in a shiny black paint and pretty flowers that shout out a feeling of some wonderful European countryside speciality home and garden type of store. Sandi is usually right there to greet me with a warm hello and a friendly conversation of whatever is on our minds and I usually find a cute pair of earrings as we catch each other up on the latest news. Her kindness, fun and lively spirit shines bright as it always has over the last 35 years. I can’t think of a better person to run this fun and wonderful store. I think it brings a lot of charm to downtown Paso Robles and I am very proud to say that I am a friend of Sandi. She knows how to turn something ordinary into a gift of love like no other with her special kind heart, I am sure you will see it when you visit The Cottage and its super easy to get to with parking right up front. Her gifts of color and her eye for finding something and turning it in to a one and only that you want to take home with you or give as a gift are amazing. I first visited her little store in Atascadero and I enjoyed strolling thru shopping for gifts as I entered and wondered in to the back garden area. I travel thru town on the 101 frequently and stopping to to see what Sandi has created next has always been a must do for me. Now that she is in on Pine Street in Paso I often times pop in just to see what she has going on in her Cottage. I love hearing the music as I wonder thru and see the pretty aprons, the vintage furniture, the jewelry, the photos with a antique look always make me think of a day in Paris or a country picnic. Since I am a local but replanted in Norcal at this time, I have also wholeheartedly enjoyed her Blog it keeps me close and warms my heart evey time I check out what’s new at The Cottage. I could easily say that whatever it is you are looking for to add that extra special touch to your home or business or if you are looking to find a extraordinary gift, Sandi at the Cottage can help you. She will even go the distance to look up that special something in one of her catalogs or maybe on one of her adventure filled shopping trips wherever that may take her. She will make the effort to find it for you and once you make that purchase she takes the time to wrap it herself in a a very pretty package with the prettiest paper and her own special design shared on her pretty Cottage Card. Thank you Sandi, as always it is fun to see what you have found and how you have turned it in to a very special work of art and a treasure to share!

This little store is is the kind that becomes a habit once you find it. A place that you can stroll through and find just about anything. The little venues are so creatively positioned that they snap you back to the vintage places in your heart. Each piece of furniture is so unique, you will never see it again if you don’t buy it there. The store oozes character and charm and the minute you step inside the door, you feel as if you have been handed a wonderful treasure chest. The store is always celebrating the latest holiday and you can always find something if you are looking for a gift or accent for your home. From Kitchen to dining room to powder room to garden you will not be disappointed when you discover this special little store. The owner reminds me of Mary Tyler Moore, always cheerful and making sure that everyone feels welcome. Once you walk out the door… I have no doubt that you will be back! Prices are affordable, parking is ample and if you are a local you know that those are two musts!
