Such good food, in store baked goods, and drinks! I also recommend their hamburgers, as they are made from local organic pasture raised beef.

This restaurant’s food quality was way down when we went there after a year. We ordered a veggie sandwich, and were told they were out of avocados, but they would substitute with black bean hummus. The bread was awful, they forgot to put the hummus, and the side of potato chips was a plate full of broken chips as if recovered from left overs. We decided this would be last time we will go there.

Best grass-fed burger South of Tucson. And the homemade strawberry-rhubarb pie was excellent. We had a party of seven, which partly overwhelmed this small boutique restaurant, but we all enjoyed our lunches. For our next road trip to Southern Arizona, we will be sure to take the side roads again through Patagonia so we can stop at the Gathering Grounds.

Patagonia, AZ, near winetasting destinations, is tiny, with few options for dining. But one option is over-the-top good for breakfast. The comfortable, hip Gathering Grounds would hold its own against any breakfast café in a bigger city. Waitress Michelle was so friendly and cheerful that we felt like best friends by the second day; indeed, on that second morning, she remembered our preferences from the day before(for me, extra spinach in place of feta cheese on my egg white omelet, with dry wheat toast). The omelets were excellent, as was my cappuccino, my friend’s roasted, nicely seasoned potatoes, his wife’s biscuits, and my wife’s beautifully balanced and seasoned quiche. The wonderful quiche was prepared by Heather, the café’s extremely talented baker. We also tried Heather’s superb morning glory muffin, great glutin-free carrot cake, and delicious cookies. The chocolate merengue cookie is in a class by itself: chocolate ganache sandwiched within chocolate merengue. The café is also open for lunch, which I regret missing, because it would have provided another opportunity to sample Heather’s quiche. This place is a gem.

Gathering Grounds is exactly that — a local spot where folks gather and talk about the hullabaloo of the day in Patagonia. Everyone knows each other and stops by to say hi. Nice that they have GF selections. We had some GF carrot cake, GF pecan bar. They weren’t dry or crumbly at all, which often plagues GF baked goods. For lunch, I had the quiche of the day and some soup. The quiche was a veggie one and the soup was broccoli cheddar. The quiche was a tad overcooked and rubbery, but the soup was great. It was actually a brothy soup, not a normal creamy/milk based broccoli cheddar.

What a great little spot. Fantastic breakfast and super friendly service. Pancakes and biscuits with gravy are AMAZING. They have quite a bit of variety, baked goods are difficult to pass up. Fantastic coffee selection. Awesome little café to have in town, and it’s definitely worth the drive.

We had the quiche, turkey Reuben, cheesesteak, and a turkey green chile sandwich. And it was all great. We passed on the homemade pies and baked goods, but definitely going to try them next time. Delicious food, very fast service, very reasonably priced.

Awesome little stop in Patagonia. My 2 year old and I stopped in for ice cream and coffee, she gives it 5 stars! Although I understand no food after 3, it would be nice to have had something other than pie or ice cream available — maybe some premade sandwiches or salads? That’s the only reason I took one star off. I’ll have to get back in here and update on the food but if any of my fellow East Coasters get out to this lovely little town, come in and try the strawberry rhubarb muffins! They are FABULOUS!

Random stop in because they had coffee. We were sucked in by the Patagonia pies which is basically a pot pie but not runny. Super tasty, goat cheese and rice and a chili colorado. Cheap prices, great food and coffee and cookies to boot. Quite a great little find in the Mecca of Patagonia!

Stopped here on a motorcycle ride with 15 others in our group. They called in another cook and took our orders once we settled down. We even had a couple of people come in late. They did a great job in serving us. The food was awesome. I had the 2 egg breakfast over easy. Eggs were done great, the wheat toast and the home fries were very good. From the time we ordered and had our food it couldn’t have been more than 10 minutes, not to bad for a group of 16. Kudos to the Gather Grounds team. As you walk in they have a bowl for dogs. There is a bike rack right in front. Parking for motorcycles and cars is just across the street.

A sweet, local café that makes sure that the town of Patagonia stays well-caffeinated, and well-fed! It is the perfect place to enjoy yourself while visiting this great little mountain community.

This is a great little all round bistro, expresso bar, breakfast joint, lunch place, bar. We found this place online and decided to try it for breakfast. We had our dog with us, and there was a table outside that we could sit at… and a large water bowl titled ‘Doggie Java’. Ordered the Bisquits & Gravy and it came with 2 eggs and some potato hashbrowns. The meal was absolutely wonderful! Service was great and no complaints here! Lot’s of locals hang out and gab and drink coffee. Definately the breakfast place in Patagonia!

Happen to be in Patagonia? Hungry? Gathering Grounds might be a good spot for you to stop in on. A cute little café in the heart of Patagonia. Patagonia is small so you probably won’t have any problem finding it. We came in for breakfast one morning and the place was pretty packed. It might actually be the only joint in town that serves breakfast, but I’m not saying that with any confidence that I am right. It was the place our friends took us to. Sue loves her coffee and there definitely aren’t any other coffee shops in town. I believe one of the small local markets had a sign that they had coffee, but they certainly aren’t a coffee shop. Sue had a latte and I had a spiced hot apple cider. Not sure why exactly I needed a hot drink when it was already getting pretty warm, but it felt like the right thing to do at the time. I was very happy with the drink. For breakfast I had the Binx Special($ 6.50). Egg white omelet stuffed with feta cheese, poblano peppers, mushrooms, and spinach. No toast on the side which was a bit upsetting. It was very good, but pretty small. Take a look at the picture I posted. The plate about eats up the food. This was more of the lighter fare they had on the menu. We came back a few more times while in town for coffee drinks. Nice that the locals have a place like this in town. Stop in if you find yourself in these parts. Your food will be served with a smile. I can almost guarantee it.

After spending the day hiking along The Arizona Trail a bit and then hopping in the car to go explore ghost towns Harshaw, Washington Camp, Duquesne, and Lochiel we were ready for a bite to eat when we got back to Patagonia. Gathering Grounds was the perfect stop. Friendly staff and great selection of food and coffee. The soup, breads, and blueberry muffins were very good. It was a casual and relaxing place to just hang out at the end of the day. We will surely return and try more of their sandwich offerings in the future since Patagonia rocks with so many great places to explore.
