This is one of the nicest shops I have ever wandered into. The service was impeccable and the quality unsurpassed. A must stop for great shopping for higher end women’s clothing.

I LOVE this store. I’ve shopped a lot in my life, been to every manner of retail store, and every now and then you come across something unique and beautiful and Global Arts is it. An amazing selection of Southwest goods and treasures from around the globe. Without intending to I found several things worth hauling back to the Pacific Northwest. It’s almost worth the trip to Patagonia just to visit this store, it’s that good.

I only get to Patagonia about half as much as I’d like – the town is a Southwest gem. Patagonia is to the rest of Arizona as Austin is to Texas, and the best shop in Patagonia, probably in Arizona, is Global Arts Gallery. If you go to Patagonia, and you should, do not leave town without going to this shop. There’s something to discover in every inch of it, and some of what you discover isn’t a material good. My last trip I purchased a pair of black, wood earrings, which the owner informed we were from Greece. I’m not one of those women with enough earrings to fill an oak tree. I have maybe a half dozen pairs – so when I buy earrings it means they’re special. I have to stop myself from wearing my Global Arts earrings every day, but I never would have got them without the owner’s nudge. Adrienne Halpert knows just what to nudge her customers toward because many come back again and again, and she makes a real effort to see who they are. Global Arts has a love-life vibe. If only every boutique in this country were as uplifting as Global Arts, the chain shops, like Anthropologie etc. wouldn’t have a chance.

I remember when I first walked into this shop 12 years ago — it transported me to a place more typically found in a much larger city. Owner Adrienne Halpert knows the story behind each and every piece of art, jewelry, clothing, and furnishing in the shop, which is colorful and filled with things that have the ‘mark of the hand’ as she calls it. Take the time to look in every nook and cranny of this place. There are special pieces from local artists as well as artists around the world and they are very unique. Years ago I bought a ‘lamba’ — a wild harvested silk scarf made with natural dyes and by a women’s co-op in Madagascar — and a really cool antique Tibetan pendant. I still get compliments on both of them.
