A Pataskala icon. You go back in time when you walk into the nutcracker. My favorite is an early breakfast with real coffee(and endless refills). This is real old school food(think how people are in he 50’s) served by the nicest waitresses who know their regulars and their orders. The food is comfort with nothing unique but always good quality. Try the toasted cinnamon roll for breakfast!

The nutcracker was quite the busy little diner when we were there, but the service was great and super friendly. I ordered a Cuban sandwich that was quite good not the best one I have had but my craving was certainly satisfied. My only negative was we decided to order dessert and each one scoop sundae was $ 4.99 that to me seemed quite pricey.

I’ve been in this place four times over the 10 years I’ve lived in Pataskala and the food is average nothing to write home about the first time I ate at this restaurant they charged me close to $ 4 and a half for a bowl of grits instant grits ! I figured any place that would try to rip you off for a bowl of grits probably isn’t a place I want to spend my money. Pataskala lacks family style restaurants and that’s why the NC has business it does but I wish the food was a little better quality.

Stopped in for breakfast. Prices are very good. Unfortunately the«home fries» were pure white, or grayish, crunchy and under done. Totally gross. Bisquit was fresh, sausage gravy was decent with mildly spicy flavor. Great service, clean. Not really interested in returning.

Food is average and probably only deserves 2 stars but the theme and décor are adorable and fun! While we waited for our order we all picked out our favorite nutcracker. The entire 50’s soda pop shop restaurant is lined with them. We ordered an app of fried green tomatoes – delicious but dripping in oil. Ordered the chicken and noodles atop mashed potatoes with a fried corn-on-the-cob as my side for $ 10. The mashed potatoes were definitely from a box which made me sad and the noodles had a funky taste. Large chunks of juicy chicken though. Never had fried corn before and wasn’t sure if it would come breaded or not. It was flash fried and dipped in melted butter – about a 3″ section. It was guilty but good! My friends ordered the Reuben and a breakfast platter. Ate them, but again it was an average meal. They have lots of house made pies and desserts which we didn’t get but they looked yummy. They also have retro candies you can grab at the register when you pay. Fun little place.

Seriously, I don’t like this place. I ordered french toast, scrambled eggs with cheese and potatoes. They delivered my food with the eggs and french toast on one plate and the potatoes on a separate plate. My french toast had cheese on it. Also, I don’t eat meat, but they cook their potatoes on the same grill as the bacon. So, my potatoes had pieces of bacon in it. I sent it back, but they still billed me for the potatoes! I brought 2 small children with me, but they failed to offer extra napkins until I asked.. . twice. It is worrisome when people who are preparing food lack common sense! Yikes! The food is average. I won’t be back.

The food was excellent but the customer service was what was truly outstanding. Very family friendly. We will definitely be back!

Best country fried steak I have ever had and so good with their cheese potatoes. We also ordered a grilled cinnamon roll which was really tasty. It’s definitely a solid, dependable, breakfast spot. The atmosphere is cool with the 50s diner country store theme. I look forward to bringing friends and family here.

This is the worst by far. The food leaves so much to be desired. No taste and no seasoning. Pataskala really does need a good restaurant, this is not it.

Amazing food and service. We had a group of 11 in town for wrestling tournament. Was able to call ahead and have our seats ready. Food and prices were the best. The homemade pie is the best I’ve ever had. Everyone of all ages left happy and we can’t wait to go back when we are in town again!

This could be so much better. It has a great atmosphere, friendly people. But there is NOTHING special about their menu or food. This is a place that we would expect Diners Drive ins and Dives to visit, but it’s just simple cheap ingredient. A missed opportunity for something special.

Classic dinner with good food, homemade root beer and old fashioned pies. It’s a tribute to 50’s dining. Overall, a great place to visit and well worth a drive.

Always enjoy coming here. The menu has a nice variety, the food is simple and good, prices are reasonable, service is friendly And the 1950’s décor is adorable! Try their desserts, they’re all good. And they have an incredible candy selection. Two thumbs up!

This place is kind of like the local watering hole or diner. I think their collection of nutcrackers is pretty cool but I come for the cheesy hash browns. These hash browns are THE best. They have just enough cheese in them. They have a variety of foods to pick from including grilled cinnamon rolls, Ashleigh’s omelette and prime rib breakfast. I usually end up with Ashleigh’s omelette with everything in it, including jalapenos, a side of rye bread, cheesy hash browns and coffee. The last time I went with my family, they served home made banana cake as part of their anniversary. Free! Note: They only serve cheesy hash browns until 11am.

This place has such a cozy feel. I love to bring my mom here when she visits because she loves the home-cooked style food. The breakfasts are very tasty. I usually add a side of sausage and gravy biscuit to whatever I get and sometimes have to bring it home because I’m too stuffed to eat it, but it’s so good even reheated! For dinner I usually get the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. This is something I begin to fantasize about when it’s been a while since I’ve visited the Nutcracker. It is amazing!!! I also recommend the jalapeño bites and the grilled cinnamon roll is also out of this world. I’ve actually never gotten anything I didn’t like here! Make sure you try the root beer in a icy mug too!

After 5 months in the area, we finally headed in for a Saturday morning brunch. It was bustling, but not crazy busy. Service was very diner-ish, with few pleasantries and extras, but quick coffee refills and delivery of everything we needed. We all got breakfast, and those of us without the cheesy potato casserole were sad about it. I got a basic eggs/toast/potato mix and everything was cooked well. With a breakfast entrée and coffee, four people ate for about $ 40 before tip.

If you’re anywhere near Pataskala, this is a pretty solid breakfast choice. They do serve breakfast all day but cheesy hash browns only until 11. Service is fast and friendly, coffee is good, biscuits are awesome. Comparable to Grill & Skillet or Frank’s in Eastmoor but not divey. It’s more of a 50s diner theme but since the owner collects nutcrackers, there are lots and all sorts of them. Dinner is not quite as good as breakfast but good, great pies!
