Most of the country is knee deep in generic ass, emasculating Master Cuts and Super Cuts type hair salons. New Yorkers know how to maintain tradition. The local barber is a time honored ritual for us extinguished gentlemen types. Mr. Nick’s is Tops. They aren’t going to bug you to purchase product. It’s clean, It’s quick, It’s manly. The shop is 3 or 4 chairs and blue collar all the way. Your not going to hear top 40 and have to flip through a glamor magazine. Today was a new haircut style for myself so I actually brought in a photo. Initially I felt like a douche for bringing in a reference but was quickly put at ease. Tim, My Barber examined the photo of the Pompadour and gave me a quick consultation and we were under way. I got the perfect haircut complete with the straight edge razor to clean up the sides. They have air compressors at each station– Pure Genius it totally minimized the hairs getting into my shirt. I look forward to going back. They charge 12 $ per haircut. 10 $ per crew cut. 12 $ per Hot Towel Shave. I haven’t had one from Mr. Nick’s but that’s coming. Metro Cities the Hot Towel Shave can cost anywhere from 30 – 50 $ per shave. Highly Recommended.
